Former champion Joseph "King Kong" Agbeko has vowed to score a knockout in his rematch with IBF/WBC silver king Abner Mares. A few weeks ago in Las Vegas, Mares won a controversial twelve round decision over Agbeko to unify the titles. Because of the poor officiating by the referee, who allowed numberous low blows on the part of Mares and botched two knockdown calls, the IBF ordered an immediate rematch.

“I didn’t promise that I will knock out Abner Mares before but it’s now that I will promise that I will knock him out. I think I’ve now faced him and I know I will stop him so I’m just getting back into the training routine and when we finally get a date, I will beat him,” Agbeko was quoted by GhanaWeb.
