Andre has been working with Conte since 2009, why is Froch now suddenly acting surpised about it? Does he seriously want us to believe that he didn't know who Conte was? If we, the average fans, know who Conte is AND that he's been working with Ward for years then how could he not know? Why would he wait until his fight with Ward is almost here to act like he's suddenly concerned about it? Why not bring up his concerns BEFORE the tournament began? It's just mind games. A PRE-excuse if you will.
I really don't think Ward would have a problem with taking some blood tests before and after the fight, but why wait until the fight is almost here to suddenly voice his concerns about it? It comes off more as an accusation then a concern TBH. Just like what Pascal did to Hopkins - in the middle of the pre fight promotional campaign. As I said before, it's just more mind games and a way to try and rattle Wards cage a bit. Carl already said he wasn't impressed with Ward and that he basically doesn't punch that hard.
If they do end up doing blood tests, and Froch loses - it will set him up for another post fight excuse to add to Carly's list.
excuse #15 -
"I lost because the blood testing really did weaken me." :lol1: J/K
Side note: I like Froch as a fighter don't get me wrong, and he does bring it when he fights. It's just his super sized ego and his tendancy to play the poor me bit that gets tiresome. While he was waiting for the judges scores after the Kessler fight, he said "Those bastards are gonna steal it from me." He already knew he lost, but was already blaming it on the judges BEFORE the scores were even announced. He said numerous times, if the fight had been in Nottingham he would have gotten the win, which can only mean he thought the judges would have given it to him because of WHERE he was, and not how the fight played out. And remember, this is the same guy that throughout this whole tournament has threatened to quit atleast 2/3 times since the whole thing started. A few of his complaints have been legit (Ward never having to go outside his comfort zone), but threating to quit if you don't have a private jet pick you up at the last minute and take you to Denmark is a bit of a Diva move IMO.
Obviously you have no idea what you're talking about or maybe don't know that Saurland has it that his fighters and opponents take random blood testing? Could that be it?
Why would Suarlnad pay for Floyd and Mosley? Why pay for Floyd and Pac?
Why are you bringing up Floyd, Mosley, Pac in a Ward situation? That's the most disturbing thing out of all this.
I'm talking about testing in general, player.... reason I brought up Mayweather and Mosley who tested.
Now stop and imagine that this is not the first time someone has asked Ward for this test.
And, instead of starting to wonder why Ward hasn't done it by now. People start talking about Pac and his fans in a way to distract S.O.G pretty much downright refusal to take test, Even though he has said numerous times that he welcomes it.
The problem is, what excuses did Ward give and how many? Thats the difference.
So again, What if Andre Ward said no and gave 8 different excuses (like Pac) as to why he didn't want to test?
How about instead of pushing for fighters to have their own rules, you push for a standard, world-wide (hell even just national) commission?
Exactly. And not only do we get better testing, but a more unified and legitimate sport.
Better testing has to start somewhere. A few top level fighters pushing for it and demanding it has a much better chance of being heard.
That is harder and takes longer. Promoters have resisted that because they want LESS oversight.
If John McCain and Congress were unsuccessful in doing that, what is the likelihood that Floyd Mayweather will get that going?
But what fighters CAN control is their own fights. They can lead by example. And that's what Floyd, sauerland and Ward are willing to do.
Then, the testing will reach a critical mass where is is neither exotic nor feared.
All this guys are just grasping at straws, The thing is we have Froch who wants testing done for this fight so everything has been turned upside down for posters like MEDVED etc, So now they have to flip and make it look like they are critising Froch by not critising him, If Ward asked for it to be done they would have raise the coward flag more like they did when Mayweather ask for better testing, One thing has remain consistent since the Mayweather-Paq fiasco most poster who support testing then are still saying the samething NOW!!! While others have to flip flop whenever any other fighter says something different from what Pacquiao wants.

You grasing at straw here, Pushing for a world-wide commission? Lol, Isnt that what every boxing fan wanted over the last 100 years? Is not going to Happen period, Fighters have the right to protect themselves because all this bastard commission arent going to do shiit!!

Yes, they should.
Because boxing is the only sport without a national Commission and standardized rules. What are the rules for Basketball? Tennis? Golf? Football? Everybody knows. The rules for Boxing? Well, that "depends".
So boxers SHOULD be able to institute more stringent (not more lax) rules.

The problem is fighters shouldn't be able to make their own rules, they need to be universal. If the sport wants to do this I am of the opinion it should work out the kinks so everyone has to comply. Anyone can make a false allegation to get under somebodies skin. Should they have to pay their own money just to clear their name that shouldn't have been smeared in the first place? In my opinion no, not unless it is mandatory for everybody.
True.
good post.
You should rather push for YEAR round random blood testing by any active Belt holder or top 5 contender. Which means even if you dont have a fight you still get randomly tested since the best time to juice is not when you are in training camp but when you are on vacation.
That's how European soccer players do it...

I really hope we dont see the same level of excuses that came out of the Pacquiao camp with Ward.
I fully expect Ward to grab this opportunity since he has asked for testing in the past. This should be a shoe-in.

are you kidding bro? pac's team are world champions when it comes to excuses. i have never seen so many excuses come out of a world class boxer about such a simple thing.
it's also have to be said floyd doesn't like the sanctioning bodies in the slightest. so that's why he's been running alittle bit of his own thing there.
And I must add that the ball is now firmly in Wards court and he has to pick it up or look highly suspicious.

It's one thing saying you don't have a problem. But, it's another thing to actually do it.
This will be interesting IMO. Because, for all Ward talks about, on how he wants better testing. This will be his 3rd opportunity to do so. The last 2 previous times it didn't happen for whatever reason. And, I have doubt it will happen now.
Yeah, let's see what Ward says. Put up or shut up time. If Froch truly makes a big deal out of this, and it wasn't just popping off at the mouth, I think Ward will agree.
the usual tripe from you. They have a conflict of interest, and they have reinforced their position that their testing is adequate, even though it's not random, often and doesn't test for HGH or EPO. Sorry for thinking that's probably not good enough. If the relevant commissions, sanctioning bodies, or promoters won't commit, it is ofcourse left to the indicidual fighter. Froch is well within his rights to want this, just like any fighter is.

Would you really expect more from him?
I don't like Mayweather and I think he's wrong for trying to force these tests. I like Froch, but he to is wrong. These things should not be up to individual fighters to call for, but from the boxing commissions and sanctioning organizations.

every fighter should be tested..mayweather and shane are clean..look at duckqiao he's been dodging the test and arum helped him because arum knows they cant possibly have the old duckqiao back ..you know the old duckqiao who got whooped twice by JMM :lol1:
You could say that and in an ideal world it would be so. But in this case all they care about is money and so far a testing regime is an expense only and dont expect the alphabet boys or the commisions to pick up the bill. Now since the broadcasters apparently is indifferent it's really only the fighters that can demand it. So this looks like the way for progress.
In cycling you had a public outcry for more testing following several stars fall from grace, and the sport, via it's governing body, implemented a scheme or else there would have been no TV and no income and thereby a certain death.
So Floyd demanding tests and now Froch for very high-profile fights is the way forward. I dont think a strict OST like the expensive one before Floyd-SSM is neccessary, but a threat of random out-of-competition testing ought to be deterrent enough.
And I must add that the ball is now firmly in Wards court and he has to pick it up or look highly suspicious.
