I was joking about the racist part.....but I do agree with about 85% of what he says.
I only agree with about 83.5% of what he says. I think the other 16.5% is bs.
Or was it just me? I watched an HBO stream and I almost had to switch it off because the dickriding was getting too much.
Firstly of Cotto beating a weight drained version of Golovkin's leftovers. Well actually Darren Barker beat him before both these guys and he had the hips of an 80 year old man. Geale is sh1t. Don't give me this "former champion" nonsense. He is a distinctly average fighter. But then it was the constant praise for Roach that really got to me.
Did Cotto get some kind of extra payment from HBO for verbally sucking off Roach in his post fight interview? He kept banging on about how Roach was "the best thing to ever happen to him" (how must his wife and kids have felt?) and even snuck in an extra line at the end "Dis all for Freddie".
Were HBO trying to make people forget about Pacquiao's horrible performance against Mayweather which was orchestrated by Roach?
I was watching the international stream on Boxnation and it was literally one guy commentating the whole card. It was pathetic. I watched the HBO stream afterwards though. They do go a bit heavy on the praising Roach thing sometimes but he does seem to have done some good work with Cotto. Maybe I just didn't mind as much because in comparison with Boxnation it was nice to hear more than one voice over the fight.
And Cotto said that Roach was the best thing to happen to his career, not to him so there's no need to worry too much about his wife and his kids.
you know how white people have the token black friend they use in certain situation to get brownie points, roach is HBO token down symdrome charity case they use for those exact same brownie points.
You seem like a lovely guy.
Also seeing as we're disecting resumes, it's worth noting that Golovkin's two best wins are Geale and Murray. Geale had already lost to Darren Barker & Anthony Mundine whereas Murray had just lost a razor thin decision to Martinez, who you conceded was a shell of himself with all of the injuries and everything else. It's easy to make nearly anyone's resume seem thin except for a select few.
First of all, he didn't. Second of all, he didn't, third of all he is too hittable and landed mainly power jabs. Cotto did worse than Maidana and Pac.
Cotto's defence isn't good enough, he's too stationary, has no upper body/head movement and is too slow for Floyd, he cuts the ring off well though I'd give him that.
There's a very strong anti Pacquiao sentiment on here, because he didn't fight a certain way he doesn't get credit. Truth is Pacquiao put on a defensive masterclass in there and for the most part took away Floyd's right hand, something very hard to do!
Cotto does no better in the rematch. People are swayed with Floyd, the opponent has to do something "fight his fight" throw dozens of punches. You'll never get credit for making Floyd miss and countering him, because he's assumed to win every fight he doesn't get pressured non stop in.
These are the facts!
You lost me there. Compubox had Maywearher landing 48% of his power shots. In what world is that a "defensive masterclass"?
Because he's nothing but an "A side" collaborator with Roach at this point. Doing to fighters what he's complained about done to him. No respect for the sport or his opponents. I used to be a fan but I am no longer.
I don't recall him complaining about the Pacquiao catchweight if that's what you are referring to?
Hype you can stop with the damage control.. Officially, Pacquiao lost. You can't make Floyd fans see anything else. Injury doesn't count, compubox lies don't count, close rounds don't count, 5 years don't count. All they see is 10-2.
You're fighting a useless battle. If you still gonna be on the May-Pac issue, I suggest encouraging a rematch next May which should happen once Pac heals.
The rematch would be pointless. I didn't realise it until they were actually in the ring together but it's not a competitive fight. The only time it ever would've been was around 2009/10. Manny has declined too much.
So Cotto is going to fight Canelo if they can actually agree on terms this time. I don't know about the odds yet, but Cotto seems to get (in my opinion) alot of credit for beating fighters who were either drained or injured and his resume at 154 is pretty weak.
After Cotto gets destroyed by Manny Pacquiao in 2009 he decides to move up to 154.
Here are his opponents at 154 and up since 2010:
Yuri Foreman
Foreman was the weakest champion at 154, Yuri had a knee injury and slipped quite alot during this bizarre fight.
Ricardo Mayorga
Mayorga was old, washed up, got knocked out 3 times in in his last 6 fights prior to the fight against Cotto
Margarito II
A decent win, but Margarito's injury from Pacquiao's destruction played a major role, that broken orbital bone was no joke.
Floyd Mayweather
Cotto made a good effort, but eventually got outclassed
Austin Trout
Cotto got outboxed against a B level opponent
Delvin Rodriguez
Comeback fight against a relative weak fighter
Sergio Martinez
Good opponent on paper, but i think most unbiased boxing fans agree, that the 39 year old Martinez should have not been allowed to fight again after his injuries, he could barely move on his legs.
Daniel Geale
After Golovkin destroys Geale, Cotto fights the shot Geale (and also drains him down to 157) instead of fighting his mandatory Golovkin.
I actually do not see any good wins against healthy fighters.
Compared to Canelo who actually beat the dangerous Lara, knocked down and defeated Cotto's daddy, Austin Trout. He also destroyed Angulo and Kirkland.
So dear boxing fans, i ask you the following:
What are Cotto's best wins since he moved to 154? Which good, healthy fighters did he beat?
Canelo arguably lost to both Trout and Lara. And Angulo & Kirkland are no better than anyone on Cotto's resume at 154+.
First let's see him fight a live body. His chin and stamina are still very questionable.
Agreed but that's only because they haven't been tested, not because he's necessarily shown weakness in those departments.
Do you guys think Freddie Roach would allow Manny to train with JDJ? or will Roach became an A hole and hate Pacquiao if he lets him go and tells Roach he respects him and will always respect him but he felt Roach taught him all he can?
JDJ is a master strategist, he won't change Pac, but he will devise a gameplan. Roach talked a big game but forgot to actually come up with a gameplan.
I could see Pac and JDJ as a good combo. Maybe Roach will allow a second set of eyes like he did when he brought Moorer in to help train Pac? Roach brought Moorer in because he was a southpaw who was a boxer puncher and knew how to fight against bigger guys, John David Jackson is also a southpaw so he knows where Pacquiao is coming from and can come up with a gameplan from southpaw to southpaw.
I think it'd be a great fit to have JDJ as head trainer for Manny but it'll never happen. He's only got a couple of fights left and he won't leave Roach. And why would JDJ, a great head trainer in his own right, want to be no.2 in Manny's corner?
REBORN;15741386']Roach is the jealous type. Does he even have a decent relationship with and of the still active guys he's trained prior to them firing him?
Chavez doesn't like him.
Khan hates his guts.
Ariza doesn't like him.
Provodnikov? He probably feels left out since Roach has that little Filipino guy training him.
Ariza never lasts longer than a couple of years with any fighter or trainer. I'd say the problem is more with him than it was Roach.
punches feeling the same is irrelevant? haha wtf the whole point of plaster paris is to hurt ur opponent. and what effect did they have on cotto in the first fight? dont see any plaster effects

Go to about 5:50. Max Kellerman says that Margarito said to him in the past that he didn't feel any difference in his wraps for the Mosley fight. He also does a pretty good job of dodging the question that follows.
Well of course you are welcome to assume anything you like. I guess it is possible he passed all those other inspections by the commissions and opponents corners for all of those years. Just not very likely. But there is no doubt that Margarito had a poor training camp for the Mosley fight and had problems making weight. A little research will make that plainly clear.
Naazim Richardson said that a commissioner from the NSAC thought the wraps for the Mosley fight felt alright so it's entirely plausible that he got away with it for a long time.
Every fight likely had a different commissioner and certainly had a different opponent. You can't fool all the people all the time. Maybe what was in Margarito's gloves wasn't as substantial as Cotto fans make it out to be, explaining why the commissioner wasn't suspicious?
Exactly and they didn't fool Naazim Richardson. If Margarito used the wraps before Mosley it's very possible the commissioner missed it too. I don't think anyone's saying he's been using plaster since his first pro fight but there's a very strong case that he used it against Cotto and possibly before.
PAulie is an idiot, Pacquiao is one of the toughest mofos in the game, the way he never sat on his azz when Margo throw those two back to back bodyshots shows his grit and he fired back too, Margo pressured Pac super hard the same way h did with Cotto, only difference is Pac didnt crumble
Ray Mancini even said if Pac hurt his shoulder bad it was during the fight but you have to give him credit for still fighting and not quitting on his stool. Mancini said if Pac only showed up for a check he would have thrown the towel in easy check. But he had and obligation to the fans to fight.
Look at Pacs shoulder you can see the deep red thats from the tear
http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article10221887.ece/alternates/w620/mayweather-pacquiao-getty.jpg
thats what happens when hyou tear something. He had a small tear going in and Floyd ripped that sucker in the clinches, Floyd knew about it, the guy admit to having spies, dont believe it when he plays dumb, he also said he never watches videos of fighters, yet he said he wathed video of Pac and knows everything about him.
Another difference is that his gloves weren't loaded when he fought Pac.
Why is this a thread? Even if Broner knocked Maidana down three times in the last three rounds he would've lost a decision. That's how far behind he was on the scorecards in that fight. And he was hardly gonna KO Maidana.
DeGale outlanded him(albeit marginally) and knocked him down twice. You can say that Dirrell gave it away but if he'd won the last two rounds DeGale would've been accused of giving it away considering the start he had.
Haha, I knew a lot of people would just vote for Pacquiao regardless here but he still won rounds against Floyd, whereas others on the list didn't clearly win any rounds.
Not at all he's overrated as fk, he whooped Donaire but what has he done since? Nothing but beat on journeymen in Japan and other bums. He's completely overrated, if Loma beats Walters (very tough fight) he should without doubt take Rigo's sport in the p4p lists.
He dominated a guy that was 52-1(33KO) with one arm on the undercard of Pac-Algieri. That to me was his most impressive performance because he didn't look at all uncomfortable and boxed beautifully. He's got a subtlety to his game that very few fighters have and that's why people are excited and he's generating such hype. In my eyes it's not at all unjustified.
Hes inactive and waits around too long to counter punch
Not a big puncher in his weight class
Runs around the ring a lot but barely throws for long periods
And he lost against Salido FFS, Salido landed 300 more punches lol
Rigo is a far superiour and even Gamboa
So much hype because of his amateur record but I dont care how many pro fights youve had, if you are truly Elite and P4P you shouldnt be losing to guys like Salido. Salido is not elite.
People act like Lomanchenko is top 10 P4P or even top 5. Ridiculous.
About 20% of those punches Salido landed were low and that excuse for a referee Laurence Cole either didn't notice or didn't care. Also, the weight difference was about 20lbs, which is like Pacquiao getting in with Golovkin or a lesser version of Golovkin who's gonna low blow the f*ck out of him for 12 rounds and just about escape with a decision win.
I'm not sure about a KO but I have Walters winning that fight. Loma is good and I respect his skills. He boxes beautifully but he is a bit overrated on here. He hasn't quite done enough to be P4P yet. Him beating Walters convincingly would do it for me but I think Walters is too big, too strong and Loma won't be able to keep him at bay for an entire 12 rounds. His punches are beautiful but they're not all that powerful so Walters has a great chance to do damage. Big, tough fighters who can punch will give Loma problems. We'll see how it plays out this fall. Can't wait!:boxing:
Walter's is too slow I think, but it'd be an interesting fight. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Loma can render Walters ineffective with hand speed and foot movement....
Well, the thing is Loma is very good at switching up his punches... He'll throw pitty-pat punches and then come through with a power punch, he uses them to set things up which is smart (Loma is a much different fighter than GGG or Kovalev... Loma is a white version of that rare combination of 1 and million athlete talent with a life-time of built up and carefully honed skill (like Ward or Roy jones or Mayweather or Rigo)...
I really, really, really hope Rigo/Loma happens after the Walters fight... Watch Rigo fight... He'll paw that jab out and then fire off a powerful one-two... Rigo is so good that he will REHEARSE the exact combo he's going to do, then he'll actually execute it, and his opponent is still surprised(when the punches land) because his timing and speed is that good...
Now, imagine Loma and Rigo, both with great timing and speed, having to carefully measure each other out... Yeah, it wouldn't be Provo-Mattys... but both guys would want to MAKE SURE that they're winning on points at least... I guess it's possible that they would both be so good as to neutralize a lot of each other's offense/defense, leaving us with a fight in which few punches are landed... Or maybe realizing this, Loma takes a chance on his superior power and takes bigger risks down the stretch... and similarly, Maybe Rigo, realizing for the first time he's not CLEARLY winning on points, takes a risk himself...
So pissed that Arum got rid of/let Rigo go... and kept Donaire... Donaire gets his ass handed to him by Rigo, then gets dropped by Walters...and still he's on the Top Rank/HBO team...
In what world does Lomachenko have more power than Rigo?
Did you not see Canelo just sitting in the ropes? GGG isn't going to throw pitter patter arm punches like James was after 1 minute lol. Canelo is going to get demolished in that fight, Margarito vs Cotto type of beating.
I doubt it'll last that long.
broner-porter would be a more intriguing fight if porter could fight at his proper weight. if he looks like a corpse against broner then the fight is meaningless
It's the rehydration clause on top of the CW that makes an otherwise interesting fight into a bit of a joke...
Outside of Cotto-Canelo and Klitschko-Fury, what other big fights does HBO have lined up for the year?
Golovkin versus two softies and Kovalev vs two softies. Would love to hear of other fights.
Haymon still has Wilder-Povetkin/Perez winner, Stevenson-Fonfara II, Chavez Jr-Bute, Charlo/Bundrage for the IBF title, Charlo/Andrade for the WBO title, the return of Marcos Maidana, at least two Thurman fights, at least two Khan fights, at least 2 Danny Garcia fights, his slew of prospects (Spence, JRock, etc) looking to step up, Mares-Gonzalez, and the final Mayweather fight to go, and that's not even a partial count of what's to come for the year (Jack/Groves-Dirrell/Degale will likely be shown with Haymon, and Haymon's affiliation likely opens the pathway up for the US debut of rising prospects like Joshua and Luke Campbell).
HBO's year peaked with their participation in the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, and they don't have the fights in the que to continue that momentum forward all that far, especially if fans start to get wise to their blatant mismatches.
A lot of those fights are gonna end up on Showtime rather than PBC, so while they're still Haymon fighters it's not really the same thing.
Lil CARL isn't nothing special he loses to any elite fighter!!:friday:
Donaire may not be considered elite any more. I think everyone would pick a prime Donaire over Frampton but he's lost something in these past few years...
- He was too old, past his prime.
- Canelo kidnapped his twin brother.
- The judges were bought.
- Oscar paid him to lose.
- Oscar paid Abel Sanchez to spike his water bottle.
- He was fighting a cruiser weight in there.
Take your pick.
This is a legit concern. Canelo's had more gift scorecards than any top fighter in recent memory.
What's most the boring fight you have ever watched?
Mine's Fury vs Wlad, especially after the insane build up (batman costume...etc)
I honestly found that fight interesting. I know it wasn't action packed so maybe it was just because there was an underlying drama that Wlad might finally lose his titles...
Floyd Mayweather jr. vs Baldomir
This has to be up there.
I think Jacobs has been overlooked, underrated by the fact that he was stopped by Pirog as a young prospect.
But Danny was leading the fight on the cards 39-37 when Pirog stopped him in the 5th round.
Danny has a bad habit of not being responsible defensively for the full fight, so he paid his bills vs Pirog.
Jacobs has great boxing abilities and has never been CLEARLY outboxed in a ring as a pro.
GGG barely outboxed him, with a KD point as an help to get the decision.
Jacobs best performances as a MW:
- He stopped Quillin (MW world champ) in one round, pretty much impressive.
- He stopped twice Mora (SWW world champ), underrated perfomances.
Tricky Mora never had been stopped, was a very good SWW who actually managed to get a draw with Mosley and beat Forrest for the WBC belt.
-He fought a "could have gone either" with GGG world champion as an amateur and unified MW champion as a pro.
I think the Golden child reached his prime and I rate DJ as a A- middleweight.
I favor him over any 160 pounders in the world.
I would also favor him over De Gale if he avoids the english mate bigger shots.
How do you guys rate DJ?
Did he fight GGG as an amateur as well?
Thurman's style is most similar to RJJ, Adonis Stevenson and David Haye's style.
he's a very fast ambush fighter with legit power. you cannot outbox this type they fight on the outside.
Crawford's crafty pocket work is useless just like Toney's and Hopkins was against RJJ. on the outside it's a mismatch, Thurman punches much harder. and Thurman is faster.
You missed the Klitschko-Haye fight then?
EXACTLY about his style similar to Khan's.
answer me a question, has Khan ever been outboxed?
there you go. he's the worst stylistic match up for technicians like Kotelnik, Barrera, Judah and Malinaggi.
Thurman is a stylistic nightmare for the smaller technician like Crawford.
Khan and Thurman are completely different. Khan is naturally way quicker and Thurman loads up more on his shots.
Also, just because you think Thurman matches up well with Crawford stylistically doesn't mean he beats him. Crawford is a more well rounded fighter if you take both technique and athleticism into account - the only question mark is if he can take Thurman's power.
Klitschko is 5 inches taller than Haye with 30 lbs on him.
Not the same.
3 inches. You're moving the goalposts a bit now.
khan was boxing his ears off 4-0 before the KO.
No he wasn't. You could have made it 3-2 to either Khan or Canelo at the time of the stoppage and the rest of the fight was only going one way.
