I have a feeling Cotto will choose Mayweather over Canelo. Andy Lee would be a decent option because he is a MW champ but IDK if thatd be enough to steal the September date. All I know is I am tired of paying for PPV's, Ive been watching better fights for free on regular T.V. or HBO. I wish Mayweather or Canelo fought on free T.V. for the fans.
Did you not see Canelo just sitting in the ropes? GGG isn't going to throw pitter patter arm punches like James was after 1 minute lol. Canelo is going to get demolished in that fight, Margarito vs Cotto type of beating.
I doubt it'll last that long.
And... didn't I tell you that they weren't going to strip Cotto if it wasn't GGG next?
IF GGG does not accept the step aside deal, which he will not without the agreement to fight the winner, Cotto will be stripped by WBC. If not, Cotto would not be trying so hard to get GGG to agree to step aside. So you are going to be proved WRONG.
And that GGG has refused unless the step aside includes an iron clad agreement that he gets the winner next. Cotto refuses to give that guarantee which means no step aside.
As for the belt meaning anything, and that they meant nothing in the May-Pac fight, someone should tell that to the promoters who promoted the hell out of the fact that it was for the titles and WBC as well who spent over a million dollars creating a new belt for the event. Yeah, sure the titles mean nothing.
Now someone can try to convince me that Canelo has done something that deserves his getting a shot at the LINEAL MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE. The guy is not even a ranked middleweight and the WBC should not even sanction it as a title fight.

its already been reported that cottos team was trying to reach to ggg for the step aside clause....
I never saw this, where was this? And, I'm not saying Cotto would rather keep the belt, I never said that at all. But GGG being the reason Cotto/Canelo gets made... gtfoh.

The WBC is in charge of that belt not GGG, they can change the rules on a whim, it's in the rulebook FFS. Step aside money or being stripped, GGG at the end of the day has no say on whether that fight is made. Belts mean something in boxing, a fight that big, they don't mean sh*t it's just truth. No one cared that all the titles were on the line for May/Pac, no different for Cotto/Canelo.

Of course you don't care.

The need our permission that's funny, they can strip Cotto of the title and not one will care. Cotto/Canelo not for the MW title?

Looks like Cotto might need to give Golovkin some step-aside or vacate if he fights Canelo next.

This fight is far from done. Canelo's side needs to be patient, specially Oscar, if they press too much it's not going to happen.
This is all I'm saying as well. Cotto likes to take his time, bullying him with press coverage a certain way isn't going to help him hurry things up.

Among the 31,588 at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas this past weekend who saw Saul Canelo Alvarez dispatch James Kirkland in three rounds were Dave Itskowitch and Michael Yormark of Roc Nation Sports ; which now promotes Miguel Cotto
But if Cotto defeats Geale, you can almost count on Cotto-Alvarez to take place in the second half of 2015 (HBO wasn't going to green-light this upcoming bout without some sort of commitment from Cotto and Roc Nation Sports).
Looks like Cotto might need to give Golovkin some step-aside or vacate if he fights Canelo next.
Tom Loeffler, the managing director of K2 Promotions, stated, ”We gotta give Canelo a lot of credit, selling 31,000 seats in a baseball stadium. It’s a great accomplishment. I know Canelo and Cotto would like to fight each other. The WBC has mandated Gennady as Cotto’s mandatory. They need our permission if they’re going to go ahead with that. They were supposed to do it in May – which was the original agreement with the WBC. They get one voluntary defense for Cotto.
Because there are sources saying it's done? The last source I remember saying Cotto/Canelo was done was Oscar saying they had agreed to terms. We then find it he agreed with himself, /thread is a bit premature.

Canelo wants a WBC belt
Cotto has one at 160
GGG has the Toy R Us version at 160
Floyd has one at 154
Floyd has one at 147
Floyd will not fight Canelo again because he already beat him. Therefore, Canelo is aiming for the 160 title but Cotto is a Diva and wants to fight Floyd the Cash Cow.
The Cash Cow doesn't want to fight Cotto because he already beat him.
GGG is next in line for the 160 but Cotto doesn't want to fight GGG because it would be low reward high risk.
So Canelo will have to fight GGG to knock him out of the picture. That will force Cotto to a mandatory defense or force Diva Cotta to biaaach out and vacate.
Canelo vs GGG coming soon

We'll see, I just saw the article about Haymon having no issue with working with RocNation, but that was about a month before this. Like I said it was always an option but I think Floyd is too.
well he already done saved boxing :lol1:

If Cotto defeats Geale and former junior middleweight titleholder Alvarez (44-1-1, 31 KOs) defeats James Kirkland (32-1, 28 KOs) on May 9 at Minute Maid park in Houston, they will meet in an HBO PPV showdown in the fall, likely in September.
Multiple sources directly involved in the fight told ESPN.com that the deal is done.
HBO, which has Alvarez under exclusive contract -- the Kirkland bout is his first on the deal -- and has been involved with Cotto for much of his career, was not interested in putting on the fight with Geale or any other B-level opponent unless it secured a big-time fight for him for the fall, which it has now done and the reason the network got behind the fight with Geale, which figures to be a solid matchup in its own right.
you have 200 posts and glowing in red...sarcasm is hard to detect with all the retards on this site
