James DeGale and Andre Dirrell battled it out to secure the vacant IBF super middleweight title and the DeGale came out victorious after a victory of slimmest of margins. Dirrell on the other hands claims that he won the fight as DeGale ran away from him most of the time. DeGale won the fight via unanimous decision, taking his tally to 21 wins and only 1 loss.

Why every loser these days says that his opponent was running in the ring rather than to fight?
Would love your comment!!!
It was a close fight, he came on in the second half of the fight. I can't be mad at him if he thought he won.
It's not like it was clear cut. I don't get the stupidity of fans that constantly critique fighters in close fights.
It was clear cut though, that's what I don't understand. Just because a fight was close doesn't mean it wasn't clear cut, if you break down the scoring.
If a fight is close and there are a lot of even rounds then yes, there is room for debate. The rounds in this fight were very clear. From 1-5 Degale won with an extra 2 point lead in the second. The 6th is a a swing round, could score it either way. From 7-10 it is all Dirrell, there is no way you could score them for Degale. The only rounds then up for debate are close 11th and 12th. That means at most you can score it 113-113, if you score all of the swing rounds for Dirrell.
With the knockdowns I cannot feasibly give Dirrell a win in the fight because there just weren't enough swing rounds. The closest you can have it is a draw.
well he aint wrong with this quote
everyone that dont like his style said he was "running" from froch even though dirrell clearly won that fight,,but they gave it to froch because of that very reason yet he loses tis fight?
Clearly didn't watch the first half of the fight then...
I did not score the fight... but for what it is worth I thought Dirrell won. I was counting rounds and I didn't see it the way the announcers were calling it.

So is he admitting he lost to Froch? :lol1:
I thought he beat Froch but he clearly lost to DeGale.
He wasn't really winning rounds, DeGale was coasting and giving them up.
I hope Direll comes back though, always been a fan of his skill and he finally showed some mental fortitude after getting dropped like a sack of sh1t in the 2nd round.
Dirrell only had two fights before 2014. In about 3 years he fought twice, he wasn't that active until 2014 when he started to fight more frequent
Wasn't that to do with his contractual situation? From memory he sued Haymon and then landed himself with 50 Cent.
He was slated to fight Ward which he wanted no part of.
Presumably then he couldn't fight again until the Super 6 had finished or is it just a coincidence he fought again 13 days after the tournament ended in the very same month?

***** crys on the floor and pretends he dont remeber getting knocked out, weak ass representing a weak ass race.
what you expect? for him to man it up? lmfao dont hold your breath
You just punched your ticket to permbanhood :banned:
Anyone else wanna be racist here??
the knockdowns seemed to make the difference, but my respect for Dirrell went up. i didn't score the fight, but besides the knockdowns he did fairly well. And DeGale took too many rounds off in a row. Usually you might see a guy take a round off and come back stronger, but DeGale fought like a 6 round fight and came back for 11 and 12.
What I can say is, Dirrell is recognized as a "slick boxer" (altho I think that has more to do with skin tone, a jab, and some movement on this website)...he continued to make fundamental mistakes and got hit because of it. He needs to keep his chin tucked and his right hand up....if Brandon Rios can do it, so can you.
Dirrell is what he is: a decent super middleweight contender who has pretty much lost each time he's stepped up. If he thinks he won the fight he needs to go back and have his brain checked again.
Then explain why he took so much time off after the injury

Conveniently forgotten is what happened next. SI.com reported on March 28, 2010, that Dirrell was treated and released from the hospital with the whole matter taking about three hours. BoxingScene.com informed us that Dirrell had several tests to rule out a possible concussion. Andres brain scans were fine and some sort of urine test was performed. Finally, on September 24, 2010, Dan Rafael wrote a piece for ESPN that provided, in relevant part, that alk had swirled that Ward and Dirrell, who are good friends, did not want to fight each other If anyone knows about boxing talk, it is Rafael.
