He realized from watching wrestling that someone has to play the bad guy to pull in the casuals. PBF was exciting, in wars, and none of that got him the big paydays. Arum would not market him that way. Arum markets none of his fighters that way. GGG despite all his knock outs still cannot sell PPV on his own. No boxer has had no where near as many PPV fights in a row even selling good numbers with the likes of Madiana and Guerrero. Fighters that the casuals had no knowledge of.
Also he knew that he was getting underpaid for the fights that Arum was offering him. To think that he could have fought cotto for just 8 million if he had listened to Arum is just silly.
Arum learned from it. Look at what Mikey had to go through to get out of his contract. He wont let someone just buy themselves out ever again.
But when has an MMA fighter EVER tried boxing?!
Anderson Silva WANTED too but Dana White won't even let him. (Not to mention he looks awful in sparring and in his early pro fights)
And we got guys in MMA saying at least James Toney had the balls to get into the Cage and that No other boxer had the balls...
Well what MMAist in the modern Era has never made the switch... the same can be said about them.
FACT: COUTURE would NEVER EVER EVER EVER step into a Boxing Ring with James Toney. And Yet he was saying the very things I said above. A little Hypocritical, no?
End of the story. I give James Toney a lot of props for getting out there and trying something like this in the name of boxing (and probably a paycheck too.)
Anderson Silva already has a boxing record of 1-1. He was ko'ed in the second round of his first professional fight and he is their best striker.

Fighters don't need these useless belt organizations anymore. Your the best fighter to hold this belt as long as you pay us a percentage of your purse. Once a fighter gets a name they have no use for these organizations. Those belts have less value then the WWE Championship belt. Who you have beaten should define what type of fighter you are not which belt organizations you are able to afford to pay.
If you watch the video its clear that he is not pushing himself. He takes a break as soon as he get a little tired or starts to feel the burn. Who works the speed bag like that? But I guess he is surrounded by yes man who are afraid to push him.
I honestly could not be forced to ride someones nuts if I did not believe what was coming out of my own mouth. I would have asked Roy why did it take so long for him and Hopkins 2 and Calzaghe to happen. This is the pot calling the kettle black in my opinion.
Roy sounding like a pac turd when he said " if he fights him now hell have an asterisk because pacs not in his prime".. Dumb logic
Roy hopes it will be an asterisk with all the times he was knocked out after his prime.
Roy has some good points.
I wouldnt say Roy is dissing Floyd. Floyd is boring he doesnt throw punches anymore. If he wasnt undefeated no one would watch.
Its a diss. If someone said you screamed like a ***** when you were bite. Its a diss. You can bite through a mouthpiece if you don't know and most of the padding is on top of the glove. You can still get a good grip and it was clear that Marcos mouth was open. I don know if you have been bite by someone with bad intentions. You will have an reaction. Also mentioning that it is pathetic for you to be this generations top pound for pound fighter is a big diss.
i was waiting on the anti floyd post of the day! thanks guys!!!!!!!!
He is the only fighter that has something said about him nearly everyday. Its usually all negative as in this case.
hopkins was being a diva with the money split. he had already lost to roy and somehow thought he was a draw. i thought it was pretty clear who's fault it was.
calzaghe was pretty irrelevant and was too busy feasting on UK cab drivers. he had a fear of flying too, allegedly.
The only time I heard Roy state give him whatever he want to make the fight happen was after the Griffin loss.
Roy is more of a promoter and trainer now. He has fighters at his weight class. He would be doing them an injustice and probably get fired if he continued to give Floyd credit for everything. So more of this is to be expected. Every successful promoter has to be a hypocrite to be successful. He is trying to get his fighter Jessie Vargas the Manny fight. That's his job even though no one wants to see it.
We probably could have got more information if it were more experienced reporters. Ridiculous questions they were asking after he just said they would announce the only really important news. I would fire them if I were paying him.
He might be rich and all, but I would not trade and be in his shoes. Money isn't everything!
I hope she doesn't go too hard in on him. He's getting blasted from all sides. Doesn't sound like she's going to take shots at Floyd.
It looks like she does. She called him to tell him about writing the book and he didn't care. He told her "'Write whatever you want, it keeps me relevant.' She even mentions how he gave her 9,000.00 for her fathers funeral and then he asked for the money back on the day of the funeral! It paints him the worst light possible. It also mention how he held a girlfriend against her will for two days locked in a room with a security guard outside of the door. While he berated her with questions in regards to her being the cause of his home being burglarized for 7 million dollars in jewelry.
Some people try to argue as if he is only acting that way to play the villain. The article has stuff that I was not aware of. Like him getting promised to get 5 billion back on his 15 million dollar investment, retirement from boxing, and then never hearing from the guy again. Hiring a team Private Investigator to find the guy, then getting hit for another 7 million on a burglary. Then his return to boxing. It was news to me. Getting swindle for that much money are usually things most would want to keep quiet.
The sad part is that he may have been trying to turn this around by settling down with Ms. Jackson now she has messed him over. Also I doubt he can find a decent woman if strippers is were he goes to get them. I have dealt with people who have OCD and he definitely has it. He has mentioned before that if somebody beats his high score in a video game he cannot go to sleep until he beats there score. He has also mentioned that he cannot go to sleep unless he feels the entire house is clean and has called his maid at 1 am in the morning to return to clean the house again. It can be very difficult to get under control especially with all the enablers he has around him that will encourage his obsessive behavior. He likely gets rid of anybody that says otherwise. It is also very difficult to work for someone who has OCD. When Mayweather complains about Ellerbe does he mention the garbage undercard he put together for Mayham. No he mentions his family not sitting together and they fact that his light middleweight title was on the line. Another example, Errol Spence gave Mayweather a black eye while he was sparring. After the session Mayweather told him to get out of the gym and to never come back. He later calmed down and told him he could stop packing his belongings. It was a situation that he could not control so he could not handle it so he had to go to something that he could control, his property. He was able to calm down because he saw that he could control Spence that way which is why he was then able to allow his to say. He dates strippers because he feels that he can control them. Alot of people have OCD and are undiagnosed.
What's the worst thing for an OCD? ANXIETY! Unless he is mentally ill there is no point in making excuses for Floyd's OCD. It's a personality deal with it. Unless he is cowardly mentally ill.
I'm not making excuses. Its a condition that is hard to get under control. Most that I have met never truly got it under control. His OCD is also the reason for his skills inside the ring especially his defensive skills. That is why being a perfectionist is so important. He actually gets embarrassed when he gets hit with flush shots. If he did not have OCD he would not still be training as hard or hard then he was before he became champion. He does not have to ability to get bored with something he loves. Boxing is his obsession as well. That is why even when he is trying to relax he has to stop what he is doing and go run 4 miles. Because he obsessives over someone becoming better than him. GSP had the same problem is was his reason for retiring. He was not allowed to take breaks like Mayweather and could not function because he obsessed over the opponents that were constantly placed in front of him. A lot of successful people have OCD. Also alot of serial killers.
I would at least like to see it used in a close fight before they get rid of it. We all know that it makes a boring fight more boring but does it make a close fight more exciting?
I guess this is just how he tries to sell his fights. He has all of his little catch phrases that he uses and I'll admit that they are starting to annoy me and I'm a fan of his.
Spinks doesnt have the power or the stamina to beat Floyd. In his last three fights he gassed out after about 6 or 7 rounds. This fight is going to be a replay of Floyd-Zab except spinks doesnt have the power to make Floyd respect him.
There are much worse PPV fights. If Rahmam-Maskaev deserves to be on PPV then Floyd-Spinks deserves it. If you're going to boycott anything you should boycott all PPV.
The fighters and promoters play just as big a role in this as HBO or Showtime does. They all help convince casual fans to buy a fight that is not PPV worthy. The fighters also help this because alot of them believe that they are worth more than they really are. If a fighter wants more than 3 million for a fight they will have to make it PPV.
The reason Baldomir couldn’t pay his sanctioning fees was because of the 100,000 he received for fighting Judah. He only ended up with 30,000 and if he would have paid the sanctioning fees. He would have gone home with nothing. There are even worse stories from the earlier stages in the professional ranks.
Thats why fighters only care about the money!!! I wonder what snake is going to move in once Don King, Bob Arum, and Gary Shaw are gone. Hopefully the Boxer owned companies can push them out.
Just because Winky is bigger doesn’t mean that this fight is going to be easy. Floyd has extremely good timing, which could make Winky fighting style ineffective. The best way to land on Winky is to time him as he is throwing his jab because he pulls it back too fast. Floyd has been able to time every fighter that I've seen him in there with. Since Winky is right handed and has no power in his left, this fight will go the distance. I favor Floyd in a close decision.
Mayweather knows he doesn’t have one punch knockout power. However, he is a very smart offensive fighter. Watch any of his past fights. He aims at your temple to affect your equilibrium, he aims at your nose and mouth to take away your breathing, your eyes to take away your vision, and he is an underrated body puncher. He systematically breaks you down although some of you watching at home don’t realize it. That’s why this feather fisted but extremely accurate fighter keeps winning.
