IBF SANCTIONS SPINKS-MAYWEATHER FOR NOVEMBER 4!
By G. Leon
It appears that undefeated pound for pound Floyd Mayweather Jr could be moving up to junior middleweight to challenge IBF champion Cory Spinks. Although Mayweather advisor Leonard Ellerbe had "no comment" when we phoned him earlier, ********** can confirm that the IBF has decided to sanction Spinks-Mayweather, much to the dismay of Artie Pelullo, who promotes Spinks mandatory challenger Rodney Jones. "Yes I am aware of their decision and it's completely contradictory to their rules, but I've been in touch with my lawyers and they're already on it," said Pelullo. Spinks manager and trainer Kevin Cunningham had no comment as well. More to follow, until then Remember where you heard it first! (6:22 PM EST)
Update: Moments ago ********** spoke with IBF President Marian Muhammad, who also confirmed the sanctioning of Spinks-Mayweather for November 4!
Second Update: ********** also understands that Dan Goossen will be the promoter of record on the Mayweather side of the fence and that the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada could be the frontrunner to land the fight. Dan Goossen was unavailable for immediate comment.
this new makes me hate flyod even more. I spend 4/5 years in the STL for school and although spinks is a boring fighter, I hope he trains his ass off and wins.
Don't let us down cory! thats his name right?
LOL, ouma JUST fought on Sat you dum dum...................FLOYD HAD AN OPEN DATE AND NO OPPONENT...AND RAN!!!
LISTEN YOU STUPID LITTLE MAN, I'M NOT JUST TALKING ABOUT OUMA I'M TALKING ABOUT RIVERA, WINKY AND WHOEVER ELSE CALLED HIM OUT, AND ARE YOU TELLING ME MARG CAN'T MOVE UP TO 154 (1 WEIGHT CLASS) BUT FLOYD CAN COME FROM LW TO WW AND POSSIBLY LMW. YOUR A FUCKING IDIOT DON'T COME BACK UNTIL YOU MAKE SOME FUCKING SENSE!!!!!!
Spinks doesnt have the power or the stamina to beat Floyd. In his last three fights he gassed out after about 6 or 7 rounds. This fight is going to be a replay of Floyd-Zab except spinks doesnt have the power to make Floyd respect him.
LOL,are you really that stupid? seriously.....you just name three junior middles..Marg is a welter....
yeah they are calling him out,ok. Arum had 8 mil to give to Floyd...Marg wasnt just calling him out on interviews on websites. they are both ranked #1 and #2 in thier weight class...the fight made sense!!!!!!!!!!!!! unlike you!!!!! OR FloYd fighting Spinks :boxing:
are you that fucking stupid? i'll answer that for you YES. how many divisions did floyd move up dickhead and your telling me marg can't move up one weight class and ouma said it could be a catch weight 150. YOUR A FUCKING CLOWN WHO DON'T KNOW SHIT!!!
I am not a Mayweather fan, but I hope he knocks Spinks out. For me, Spinks' style is unwatchable. I understand the "science" of boxing: to hit without getting hit; however, Spinks just runs. As soon as Spinks won his last fight, I was hoping that Mayweather might get the chance to clock him. Also, this will give Mayweather a title at 154. This could be a lure for a DLH fight, which would be quite a spectacle.
You obviously never paid close attention to my posts. I always said I respected Margarito as an opponent for Floyd but he was unproven (though that is not all his fault). As a result I had no problem with him fighting Baldomir to become the recognized champ at 147 even though I felt Margarito was the most competitive match up out there. I stand by that. I also have consistently said that I never want to see him fight Cory Spinks, which I stand by. Floyd very well may beat Margarito (I would favor him to win) but that doesn't prove anything. Spinks offers no challenge or risk. Margarito may be unproven but clearly he can punch hard and punch a lot. Mayweather has proven vulnerable against guys that constantly pressure him (Castillo). So in conclusion I stand where I have always stood. I don't care who Floyd fights as long as its meaningful. This is in no way meaningful (I could care less about winning titles in different divisions because if he was going to fight DLH then he would be fighting for a 154 title anyways).
PS I still have never said that Floyd ducked Margarito. But now that he will spend the next few fights at 154... we are moving that direction. Then again if Floyd fights him later I will be alright with that (I'm just starting to think that is less likely).
fuck the headbutt the point is he didn't win a 154 and that's where he should be at the least. guys like you are trying your best to build this guy up by saying bullshit HE IS NOT A BIG NAME CASUAL FANS DON'T KNOW HE IS and as soon as floyd gets in there and embarrases his slow ass you guys will forget all about him. i can say one thing you let these guys get to you and jumped ship fast, good job

i never said that floyd should move up to 154 but i'm not going to bash him for doing it like alot of you idiots on here. as soon as there is any info on floyd and who he's going to fight you asshole come out of the wood work. why don't i just start a 100 fucking threads on here and talk about how marg is ducking rivera, winky, ouma and whoever else feel like calling him out. you guys are PATHETIC!!!
I guess we can agree to disagree. Spinks and Baldomir both have slim to no chance of beating Mayweather imo. Baldomir would have made for a more exciting and competitive fight. Trust me Spinks is not outboxing Floyd.
We can agree to that.
The Baldy fight would have been more entertaining.
I don't see alot of leather being landed in the Spinks/Mayweather fight. But just watch, Spinks will take this one.
No, I mean the better opponent.
I give Baldy all credit for what he has done but I think it's premature to think he can hang with PBF.
He beat a flaky Zab Judah who had him completely at bay for 7 rounds.
Joshua Clottey had the man beat but was DQ'd for low blows in the 11th or 12th.
He's too slow of an aggressor to challenge Floyd. Now Margarito on the other hand, is just the aggressor that Floyd does not want.

He makes weight at 147, just like everyone else.
Like it or not, fighters know Margarito is a high risk/low reward fight. That is why he is being ducked.
You mean he is a better boxer. To me Baldomir is a more dangerous opponent. You can't beat the best boxer in the game at boxing. Baldomir won't be the slightest bit deterred by Floyd's punches and will continually pressure him like Jose Luis Castillo did (albeit with less skill). If you blow on Cory Spinks' jaw it might break. Floyd actually could KO Spinks at 154 that is how suspect Spinks' chin is.
what people forget is that castillo fight was years ago. how old was floyd then? 24 or 25? he was still a young fighter just like paul williams or cotto now. so to have beat castillo a future hall of famer is just proving how great he really is.
were not talking about welter we're talking about people putting floyd down for taking on spinks at 154 (who came up from 147 and won a title at 154 and some are calling garbage and not worthy) but would rather see him fight marg who couldn't win at 154. so how can people put spinks down when he accomplished something that marg couldn't.
Fine... by that token then Spinks is unworthy because he couldn't defend his title for more than 1 defense. Margarito has made 6 defenses... so what. Spinks won the title at 154 and I can't take that away from him but it was one of the least inspiring performances I've ever seen (running in the 12th round?). I was more encouraged by Margarito in his loss to Santos than I was by Spinks in beating Karmazin. Karmazin looked like he was totally out of it and he shook Spinks' legs with the only hard punch he landed the whole fight (round 2 check it out).
The casual boxing fan is very fickle and suffers from short-term memory when it comes to boxers. Vitali Klitschko could have been on top of the world a few years ago, but ask a casual fan about him and many of them won't even remember his name.
Sure, maybe Corey Spinks has achieved things in his career worth mentioning, but if you can't point out something spectacular he has done recently many casual fans won't remember him. Baldomir would have generated more current interest.
