roy jones. berto and lopez imo should go on bum runs and see if there's any possibility of improving (for berto it'll be more about staying healthy and regaining some confidence). i have absolutely no idea who trains lopez or where he trains at, but perhaps relocating to where an intelligent trainer can help him out is best for him. that or he can ride out the rest of his career fighting bums or guys more washed up than him. i don't keep up with green or spada's career so i'm not sure about them. i don't see a reason why vitali and viloria should retire right now.
there's also mosley and the winner of brook/senchenko. i'm actually okay with him being matched with any top 20 WW gbp can find for him. perhaps they can try to negotiate a van heerden fight just so he can try and grab hold of that ibo strap.
lots of people still riding with khan, clearly. this might not be the most exciting matchup on paper, but i'm def looking forward to it. i'll give credit to either guy that wins. rooting for alexander, but i'm okay with khan taking it. hopefully it's a good fight.
floyd is definitely not keeping boxing alive by himself. there was boxing before mayweather, and there will surely be boxing after mayweather. but yeah, he's the best of our generation and his ring iq and athleticism is unbelievable.
I said fighting shape, not weigh-in weight. A fully hydrated Chavez enters the ring at 180 pounds and that's the weight where he has little excess fat. The point I'm making is that he does not look anywhere near that magical 180 number so it's hard for me to believe he's only 185.
perhaps it's a muscle and fat thing? not sure, but putting on 20 pounds after weighing 160 the day before would probably look different then taking off 20 pounds after weeks of walking around at 200. either way, has chavez ever missed weight in his pro career? i think he'll be fine reaching the weight limit, he always balloons up in weight after every fight.
vera should just say fuck it, let the kid come in at whatever weight he wants and go on the juice if he feels he needs it. it's not like they'll be testing these fighters, chavez for all we know could be using diuretics for this camp.
yeah, rios is an entertaining fighter, but it'd be nice to see pacman get back on the winning side to continue his career. i'm sure most fight fans wouldn't mind seeing a fifth marquez fight, but some part of me wants those negotiations to fall through so pacquiao can fight other guys. if alvarado beats provodnikov, that'd be an easy fight for top rank to make. hell, i'd prefer pacman fight bradley again (regardless of the jmm/bradley fight outcome) before we see a fifth marquez fight (just to see him avenge an unjustified loss). i mean, what else is there over at top rank besides vargas? too bad this top rank/gbp feud is still going on, pacman would have some fun fight possibilities with gbp's stable if he beat rios.
he was on espn deportes's golpe a golpe on monday too. it's a longer interview, someone should upload it. i think he filmed it the same day as this interview. he was wearing a black polo as well. hopefully margs is enjoying life after boxing.
only time i've seen a fight at a theater was mayweather/guerrero. it was a pretty cool experience. no one really talked shit or yelled stuff (people obviously reacted when good shots were landed though). the theater i went to was in a good neighborhood, so maybe some advice would be to hit up a theater that isn't in a bad neighborhood. brawls could break out if you got enough drunk/crazy people in the room. try fandango's website to see the available theaters around you. that's really the only website that comes to mind right now.
i wouldn't rule out the idea that cano is still improving at the age of 23. he gave mosley a decent fight and gave malignaggi all he could handle. i haven't seen much of jones, i'll be honest, but if the jones that showed up against brook the other night got in the ring with cano, he would probably get another beatdown. i'd favor cano in this one.
Pac will need a bigger win that Rios, that's a joke of a fight
I think Pac should rematch Bradley after Rios, that will bring him back in to the forefront, he needs a win over someone young and rated, Rios is punch drunk and it's a joke that he got to fight Pac over Alvardo
if pacquiao destroys rios and stops him say under six, i think most people (especially casuals) will eat it up. i agree with you though, pacquiao should rematch bradley or get another solid win after rios before talking about mayweather/pacquiao again. sometimes things are rushed in this sport, so i wouldn't say a rios win for pacman would be too soon. i think people will start talking about pacman again after he beats rios. i still think arum won't allow it though (may/pac), and has the winners of marquez/bradley or alvarado if he beats provodnikov lined up for him next.
Is it this one? This is an amazing defense. Avoiding a punch right after throwing a combo.

that was beautiful.
here's the vid the other poster is talking about.
It actually works out for both fighters.
Floyd vs Pacquiao May 3rd
Khan/Devon winner fights again somehwere near or after May 3rd vs Danny Garcia
Winner of that fight gives Floyd anther opponent (that would sell) Sept 14th....
I don't think Garcia will be sacrified just yet, he needs a couple more wins to build his fan base up. GBP will bank on Khan beating Devon so they get a Khan vs Garcia rematch @ 147lbs.....winner vs Floyd Sept of 2014.
It makes sense for both camps now. Pacquiao will get his final payday that he depretely needs.
still think arum, and especially hbo (isn't pac in contract with them or no?) won't let it happen. that plan you said sounds ideal though. pacman would make for a fun fight with mayweather still.
i remember reading an article about gbp making a deal with fox sports but i had no idea it was a monday night series with a card coming up this soon. another day to catch some fights? who wouldn't want this? is jacobs/lorenzo the only confirmed headliner?
because pac's back on the winning side. everyone should have seen this coming once pac/rios was announced. it was just a matter of time that this nonsense would start back up.
I read his stuff fairly regularly. Rafael has become increasingly hostile towards Rigo, as if the fat fuck has any right to criticize an athlete of Guillermo's stature the way he does. I mean, you're supposed to be a "journalist," for fuck's sake. Be a little more professional. He's a fanboy with a pen.
i have yet to read anything rafael has written about rigondeaux. i have to check that out. as for this article, that sucks to hear from hershman, but he is a businessman at the end of the day. hopefully rigo is able to get free from top rank and move over to showtime/gbp.
although what has been coming out, talks of a donaire rematch (at least what i last heard nonito talk about) and a potential showdown with lomachenko if he gets past salido sounds like two bouts that'll generate fans' interests. just like reed said, just keep winning.
:lol1: :lol1: i wouldn't put it past him tbh. after all this is a business. madiana's a real hot name right now, a fight with him would sell well after his last fight. that said, khan seems to be the most likely opponent next. i don't think maidana gets the mayweather fight next.
Below is a quote from Rafael's current write-up on Rigo in his 122 lb ratings, where he has Rigo rated #1. He updates these after every fight. It's just one example of Rafael's growing vendetta towards Rigondeaux.
Although he got knocked down in the 10th round, Rigondeaux, the two-time Cuban Olympic gold medalist, kept 2012 fighter of the year Nonito Donaire off balance all night and outboxed him for a unanimous decision April 13 to unify world titles. It was a boring but very effective performance. It was more of the same unwatchable dreck when he returned to defend his belts against former bantamweight titlist Joseph Agbeko on Dec. 7. Rigondeaux won a shutout decision in a fight devoid of action as Rigondeaux never once tried to do any damage to a clearly overmatched opponent. He was content to lay back and put everyone to sleep. Don't expect him back on HBO any time soon after those two performances as he probably had folks changing the channel in droves.
That's the kind of writing I expect from an anonymous poster on Boxingscene, not a paid journalist working for ESPN. The Agbeko fight was boring, we all agree. Why does Rafael feel the need to get Guillermo "fired," as it were?
i never really liked rafael to begin with (that's why i never read any of his stuff), but wow, that was just pathetic. i honestly don't know how anyone can respect dan rafael. i guess it just goes to show how espn really is a complete joke when it comes to boxing.
hopefully rigondeaux can get free from top rank if no big fights like a donaire rematch are put on the table for him. i think he might need to take a page out of GGG's book. fight as much as possible, wherever against whoever is willing to get in the ring with him.
was this made in order to justify a potential mayweather/khan fight? or are you just a khan fan who dislikes all the posts going around calling him a "bum"? either way, just because khan had better performances than other fighters doesn't mean he IS better than all these other fighters, or can beat them in a potential matchup (not saying you're implying that). styles make fights and triangle theories don't work in this sport.
that said, i too was thinking about broner/malignaggi and khan/malignaggi and how much better khan looked against a younger paulie. it sucks he's fallen pretty hard since then, at least imo (hard tough fight vs peterson, tko loss vs garcia, and struggling vs diaz). khan doesn't deserve a mayweather fight at the moment, but if schaefer, floyd, and amir can somehow sell it, more power to him. i would have liked to see him continue to climb the ranks back to the top, like maybe taken this upcoming year to get into a mando spot or something. is khan still with hunter?
He's been working with Hunter in the gym for the past 8 months or something.
So yeah the logical step would be to go back to Roach. Derp!
:lol1: yeah, why would someone ask this? better question would have been "who has a better chance vs may: khan w/ roach or khan w/ hunter?"
i put hunter in the poll because he's been with him for a while now, might as well just stick with him. it would be interesting to have had khan stay with roach and have them go up against mayweather though. either way, khan isn't winning this one, haha.
i'm 15 minutes into it. thanks for sharing! :fing02:
hopefully barker beats sturm and can get it on with murray, that would be perfect imo. macklin/lee would be a nice fight as well.
didn't roach even say it as well in that episode? either way, you don't need anyone to tell you this is a cherrypick/showcase fight for the pacman. just sit back and enjoy whatever destruction will happen that saturday.
i've seen stone cold steve austin fights in my youth more believable than this! :lol1:
angulo will always be remembered as trash after tonight. throw him back in that detention center or take his visa away, that clown does not deserve to earn big checks in high profile fights after pathetically throwing this fight. any moron on this forum that can't see that this fight was fixed needs to stop watching this sport, haha. this was just downright embarrassing. glad i worked during the telecast and ended up not paying for it.
paulie is the most honest commentator in the sport right now. showtime made a great move hiring him. hopefully he's here to stay. the world of boxing needs more paulie malignaggis.
boy was i wrong about this fight. i thought this kid was going to be used as a glorified punching bag. herrera is the uncrowned champ after tonight. so much respect to him. thinking about rocking an avy of him in his honor, haha. gran pelea, maestro! :beerchug:
and to think this dude started boxing at the age of 27! i fucking love it. :lol1: @ the people thinking this kid lost. so much nonsense on here, i'm reminded of it everytime i log on.
yeah, i only saw the ruslan fight once, when it aired live, and i thought provo deserved the nod. also, from what i remember he had a poor showing against mayfield. i can't remember all the contenders and names at 140 (since some moved up and what not), but yeah, right now after tonight's performance and fight he deserves to be ring/wba/wbc light welterweight champion and sit atop of the 140 lb rankings.
Besides the other full champions, which fighters do you think would make some amazing mandatory compared to Vera? Sturm is coming off two loses. N'dam is coming off his Quillin losses and has that rematch clause. Zbik is coming off two loses. Proksa was already beaten by Golovkin. Rubio is the mandatory for Quillin. Macklin would be fine (he's not even listed in the WBA rankings for whatever reason), but since losing officially losing to Sturm and Martinez, he's only win is Alcine. Murray actually made sense when he was the WBA interim champ, but he's fighting Martinez. Solimon is the IBF mandatory, but who knows what's going on with his positive drug test.
That pretty much leaves the fringe contenders in the Vera quality.
Yes, it's strange that Vera isn't ranked in the WBA rankings and suddenly is the mandatory, but some of the guys ahead of Vera in the WBA list are even stranger.
wba's top 15 according to fightnews.com
1. Martin Murray
2. Felix Sturm
3. Julien Marie Sainte
4. Patrick Nielsen
5. Sebastian Zbik
6. Gilberto Ramirez
7. Jarrot Fletcher
8. Grzegorz Proksa
9. Andy Lee
10. George Tahdooahnippah
11. Matthew Macklin
12. Jorge Navarro
13. Juan Camilo Novoa
14. Juan Ubaldo Cabrera
15. Gabriel Rosado
like i said in my first post in this thread, if golovkin can't get the other titleholders in the ring with him (or the top contenders like pirog, n'dam, macklin) than just keep fighting actual MWs that will get in the ring with him. but would hbo approve of guys like vera and rubio for golovkin?
Seems odd, i dont see him having success at 147.
lopez? his biggest win was at WW against ortiz. i think him and his trainer have hinted at problems making 140 in recent interviews. plus, i wouldn't suggest it after having his last fight at 154. maidana is also not a big WW.
ALL glorified contenders sporting paper trinkets. :slap:
Not one legit, lineal/undisputed world champ in ANY weightclass.
says the guy with bradley in his sig...
make sure you report BossHogs threads aswell then
so you made this thread in spite of bosshog? you're willing to get banned as long as the other guy gets banned too? you're both retarded and need to hang yourselves. just like bosshog is an embarrassment to mexicans/mexican-americans, you're an embarrasment to african-americans.
i swear, the idiotic scum that this site attracts is pathetic. both of you need to get ip perma-banned. the site is shit when both of you are active clogging up nsb like this.
russell's people wouldn't do it, too early for them. it'd be a great fight though, two young undefeated fighters going at it, it's a 50/50 fight imo. i like both fighters, maybe down the line if both are still in the same weight class and on top of their game.
