First props to a poster Trank who first mentioned the following scenerio in a thread. I think it is very possible. Floyd knows he could easily deal with Maidana. Floyd knows that a Maidana fight is a lot easier fight than a Kahn fight.
Knowing this one can only hope that Floyd is not advising Bronner in a manner that first and foremost considers Floyd's advantages and not Bronner's.
While it does seem correct to advise Bronner to go down a weight class, its kind of funny that Floyd advises Bronner to fight undercard at that weight and that Floyd seems very eager to fight Maidana!
I think Floyd understands very well that he will look like a king badass fighting Maidana, a guy who can be avoided, tied up, and hit with precise one shot counters, as opposed to Kahn who has some real assets that will test Floyd.
What do you guys think
MODS THIS IS A THREAD ABOUT FLOYD NOT BRONNER!
didn't know Floyd said that
if he did, it's probably just out of concern for his little buddy
doubtful he's trying to keep Maidana for himself
Floyd won't prioritize that fight while Khan's there for the taking
if he's gonna keep Broner as a flunky, he should endorse a rematch
Broner lost whatever stardom he'd leeched off Floyd to that point
he needs to beat him to get it back
unless he simply doesn't think Broner can win, he'd have a point
that fight was one sided enough that a rematch reversal is unlikely

And he is trying to build up the undercard to his fight because He knows it won't sell unless the undercard is strong
Broner MUST rematch Chino....no tune ups or rebuilding!!...right back into the fire and SNATCH back whatever mental edge that may have been beat outta him....time to man up and bet all the chips....that's the hand he dealt himself....gotta play it now....as a Broner fan, anyone other than Chino next is absolutely unacceptable!!!
Floyd is big bro but he need to stop that babysitting sh1t lol....lil bro got this everybody need to chill the f*ck out....bring Big Floyd on board and the rebirth of AB will be a success imo
Wait...you are a Broner fan......but you want him to rematch Maidana? How could you call yourself a fan, and wish such a violent end to one of your favorite fighters? Broner would be brutally stopped the second time around.
Truthfully he probably is smiling. Khan poses many many many more problems for Floyd than a guy like Maidana. With Floyd in front of him Maidana is a late KO or corner stoppage waiting to happen.
What is this nonsense? :lol1: Khan poses more threats than Maidana? Let's get this guy home folks, he's obviously drunk.
immediate rematch with maidana? lmao you trying to get lil bruh kilt'! broner should fight someone close to or on his level, maybe rematch ponce de leon again.
Broner one about 5-6 rounds in the fight it wasn't all Maidana.

I'd laugh if it back fires and Madiana knocks Floyd out which could happen if that lady in Georgia won the mega millions than Madiana does have that Ko chance of pulling off the knock out
Castillo was notably quicker, better pure boxer too plus he got dominated in the rematch and you have to imagine Floyd's ring IQ has improved since then. I genuinely don't see Maidana winning a round. Floyd isn't going to stand there not throwing while Maidana tees off on him, he's not going to stand there period.
Obviously anything can happen in sport, particularly boxing, but on paper at least I think it's very one-sided.
I think it was after but it was a retweet, it's obviously nothing conclusive.
All of this. It's about levels and Floyd is maybe 2-3 grades above Maidana as a fighter. He's above Khan too but if Khan had a chin, who knows where he'd be rated e.g. I don't think Garcia would have beaten him (my opinion).
On this i agree. Casillo actually boxed Mayweather and the key to his success was giving himself room and throwing in between Mayweather throwing his own punches and also trying to get off first.
That said Floyd will stand in front of Maidana and hold his ground in the later rounds an pour on the punishment. You can be sure of that. Floyd could make Midana back up from the very first round if he desired it, but he won't. He will stick that jab in his head and body, he will lead with his hook, he will pot shot and wear Maidana down, and when he sees Maidana is tired he will put his foot on the gas and become more aggressive.
Floyd can't believe his luck, the limited Maidana has just fallen into his lap as a legit opponent. I hope Broner ignores Floyd and forces the rematch.

That's 100% correct. After seeing what Maidana did to his little brother Floyd won't fight Maidana. He could beat Maidana but he would take lots of punishment and Mayweather hates to take punishment.
In his most recent interview when asked if Maidana was on the Team Mayweather radar, he said after that performance, "ofcourse"
You are a huge phaggot though. Anyone who jumps on any wagon saying Mayweather won't fight Maidana or he will take punishment from him is either being a complete liar or just very very deluded.
Mayweather will stop Maidana, or beat him sensless over 12 rounds and he won't get hit much at all. BANK ON THAT!!!!!

I can agree with alot of what you said; my only thing is Floyd is a lot longer than Broner or Maidana is his range is impeccable. Broner was there for a stationary target in his shoulder roll ala James Toney. I dont think Floyd would be there for those looping shots which in his career has cost him the most trouble.
Broner cant even duplicated Toney's shoulder roll. Not only is he stationary, he doesn't move his head.
If Mayweather does have as much respect for Broner as he said he does then I dont think he takes the Maidana fight. He'll shut him out and that will only make Broner look worse.
many of those things are also things I took into account for my assessment. Also I factored in Broner's character, and Maidana's improvements in technique and stamina since the Devon fight.
I agree about Floyd's ring iq improving. Castillo had a bit of a speed edge though I think Maidana can be fast. His first hook/jab that preceded the thudding right hand to the body and follow up hook in the second knockdown of Broner was deceptively quick. (The one that sent a spray of sweat off broner's dome) Maidana also has a considerable power advantage over castillo p4p prime for prime. His looping, sometimes downward overhand right is a problem for the shoulder roll. As is his wide rangey hook. That jab is authoritative and almost a power punch on his own. He would train the best he ever has in lieu of a Floyd fight. Not saying he would win but he would prove he deserved the shot!
Khan is a pretty linear guy imo. His 1-2's are easier to time and defend, despite the speed. Maidana would have the harder to predict angles and he would fight worthily with tenacity and vigor.
You misunderstand why I asked. If he gave Maidana no chance against Broner that speaks of an overall bias against Maidana and a certain blindness and gullibility to what the networks feed the public as opposed to what is there to be SEEN

I had it 50/50 when I looked at the sparring etc...
Miadana has the power and Broner the boxing skill and speed. However from Rees I knew Broner wasn't the real deal because I let PDL slide. Rees is a bum and a midget from the UK where I have seen him look like **** often. To land that many shots on Broner let me know he has no defence. Styles make fights but Paulie was close enough so I was certain Broner was not better than Khan, and that fight was 1 or 2 rounds for Khan for me.
Maidana has always had a nice jab and although slow, everyone can get hit in a 12 round fight and he has a hard hook to judge and counter. What he has is, if you aren't fast on your legs, he will hurt you or his power will make you change your game plan.

Maidana success vs Broner has nothing to do what will happen in a Floyd fight.

It won't be the last time I post this if the fight indeed happens, but Maidana/Floyd will play out very much like Hatton/Floyd before he got KO'd, but I think Maidana poses more of a threat than people give him credit for.
Maidana doesn't have Hatton's footspeed, I think he struggles to close the distance on Mayweather. Broner was not hard to get to because he generally doesn't move much. If/when he does get too close, I can see Floyd tying him up, of the pressure fighters v FMJ only Cotto has managed avoid that.
Maidana doesn't have Hatton's engine either and I think his inside game is inferior but the one thing he does have over Ricky is concussive power as well as using the jab. His jab seems way too slow for Floyd though.
Puncher's chance imo. Would love to be wrong (and it wouldn't be the first time!).
an argentine journalist just tweeted that haymon and schaefer told contursi (marcos manager) to get chino ready for floyd in may, i don't know if he has a good source, but i would love to see chino take away that fight from khan
I had a look, he re-tweeted this:
"@troy786: @StephenEspinoza stephen just shows you HOW GOOD KHAN IS he beat maidana in a war bring on #floydkhan"— Stephen Espinoza (@StephenEspinoza) December 15, 2013
then he posted:
Don't know. Haven't spoken to Floyd/his team about it yet. "@ToasterHD: how are Maidana's chances compared to Khan's for Floyd?"— Stephen Espinoza (@StephenEspinoza) December 15, 2013
Reading his timeline he was getting a lot of stick about the Khan-FMJ fight being a possibility, I'm sure he's aware the hardcore US boxing fans aren't keen on that bout.
Hmmm, can't tell if he's trying to be coy or genuinely doesn't know ha.
If the plan is to keep is guessing then they're doing a good job.
I was certain it would be Khan but now I'm not so sure.
