Bringing up the MMA kills your arguekent though. Boxing and UFC both have over a million fans and are the top two combat sports in the world. Their will always be a thirst for watching pro fighters fight. And seeing as boxong does just as good if not better then mma on tv it will not die. Floyd thrives off people paying to watch him lose. Because to be honest hed be in rigo shoes without his personality. Before he became this bad boy arum was saying the same crap about floyd he is about rigo not being able to sell until he talked crap. At ww maybe, but he had power and was stopping people at his natural weight class. And really, if every time you step in the ring you win, people are gonna want to see you fight. Floyd is so far above any other athlete in this sport, that he is quite literarily making a mockery of it. He is the reason I started watching boxing, and is the only reason it isn't a dead sport. Increased punching power as he moved up in weight, head growing like he's ducking Barry bonds, so I don't consider him relevant in this discussion. And UFC isn't a sport so I don't know why you would bring it up. I'd pay to watch death row inmates fight to the death, but that doesn't make it a sport. Mma isn't a threat to boxing. It is a novelty.

floyd is definitely not keeping boxing alive by himself. there was boxing before mayweather, and there will surely be boxing after mayweather. but yeah, he's the best of our generation and his ring iq and athleticism is unbelievable.
