If anything it looks like Spence and Al Haymond are the one who dont want this fight. They feel like they can make safe money matching Spence with their popular B+ class fighters, like Porter and Thurman. Or maybe another blown up lightweight?
Crawford is 31, he aint got much time left in his prime. Fight should happen now or never, theses are the two best welter right now. In my opinion, Thurman, Porter and Garcia are second class, behind Spence and Crawford.
IMO Benavidez is way more dangerous than Mikey Garcia. Dude is 5'11, long, reachy, weight around 170 on fight night, got a lot of skills, hit hard, he is tough as nail, got shot, he also look like a mad man. I think he beats Mikey fairly easy and give trouble to any of the top welterweights if not beat them.
He is easily the most underrated win on Crawford resume.
I am so glad Bud finally get the recognition. To me based on eye test en was the best boxer in the world about 8 years ago when i first saw him fight.
ppl have been so critical at that time, downplaying all his achievements, saying his resume was weak and that he was boring to watch.
funny how the narrative have changed since then. Now hes an exciting fighter to watch and he get all the praise. Happy for Bud and its good for boxing, this guy deserve all the praise hes now having.
I read many comments and i am kind of shocked about how much people are homer about their favorite fighters. Anyone who say one fighter would destroy the other is loosing credibility.
i’ve been a fan of Crawford for a long time, proudly so. But to me this is the best fighter of an era against the best fighter of another era. This is a true 50-50 fight, both have things going for them.
while Mayweather has the best technical defensive abilities i have ever witnessed, Crawford had to most accurate and effective offense i have seen. Both are 5’8 guys that fought around the same weights classes. This is the dream fight.
Crawford is unified at 140, he aint gonna move to 147 and be only a contender, he would wreck porter easy because crawford has power and he his too good using reach avantage, i even doubt Porter hit him with anything. I would have Crawford face Pacquiao-horn winner to get a belt at 147 and acclimate, then get a lineal fight with Thurman or Spence
Marciano record standing. Mayweather will make history as an exemple of how greed ruinned one's legacy. This will be shocking. Mayweather is only a shell of himself now
If cmg win, its very bad for boxing obviously. Casuals think Mayweather is like by far the best fighter in today boxing but they dont know ****. Conor got a fair chance to win here, or at least make it to 12 versus a old, done, wayyy past prime mayweather. But he would get destroyed inside 6 rounds by Crawford or Spence like very badly
I don't think he was injured but Postol is garbage. Who did he beat? a faded Matthysse? A prime Matthysse went life and death with a shot to bits Judah and lost a decision lol.
Postol was such garbage that Garcia moved up a weight to avoid defending against him. Odds against Crawford were about 1:1. Now that Crawford scooled him, easy to say he is garbage
I think he beats Thurman. They are similar in height & Crawford is still filling out. Crawford is faster, has better technique & solid power which I think will carry up to 147. He would catch Thurman in between his wild swings.
Not sure if he beats Spence, purely due to the size difference. Spence is a big WW and could be too much.
Overall, I think Bud is a more complete fighter than both guys and he is something special.
Really looking foward to theses fights, and i agree with all of what you said.
I think Spence is by far the most interesting fight to come, because i don't think Thurman stand a chance at all. But still i favor Bud, simply because he is a level over Spence is term of skills, i think Crawford have the defensive tools; movement, counter punching and enough power to keep Spence at bay for 12 rounds.
Get ready for the takeover people, i've been saying for over 2 years that Crawford is the most skilled fighter out there. Now he's bout to prove himself to every single doubter in the world when he beat 147 division.
Golovkin could not even win his last two fights, impose his will. How could he be number 1? Crawford is lineal at 135 and undisputed at 140, moving up to 147. And most importantly, he always dominated in his fights, got better and better, and look invincible right now.
Nope, you don't get P4P #1 for going life and death with Gamboa and an injured Postol.
Haters gonna hate.
Crawford toyed with Gamboa, and he's even better at 140 than he was at 135.
Postol was injuried? You just came up with that or what?
Beterbiev is no hype job, he beat Kovalev in the amateur and was seen as a better propect than him wich made Kovalev quit team russia. Now that he turned pro, he absolutly destroyed, annihilited all of his opponents. This guy have more punching power than even Kovalev, if you think he can't beat Stevenson, then go watch at least one of Beterbiev pro fights then you will be allowed to have an opinion on this subject
Oscar didn't pass it. They beat him. Y'all make it sound like Oscar gave Floyd & Pacquiao the torch, NO! He gave them the opportunity just like Floyd & Manny have given other fighters the opportunity. It's up to them to take advantage of the opportunity
Manny had the opportunity to fight Crawford instead of Vargas but he did not...I think Crawford will face the winner of vargas-pacquiao in 2017. Other good options are Danny Garcia (but Garcia won't agree) or Adrien Broner at 140-147. Broner would be nice because it would bring Crawford more exposure. Then there is Troyanovsky, but he is largely unknown and have fought terrible opposition, so i dont think this will happen. Or Burns, but thats pointless given their previous result
Terence Crawford: Manny Pacquiao Must Fight Me at 140!
.......
Actually, Crawford said that because he meant: i'm going to make my way to the top, i won't beg Pac to fight me anymore. Pac could have faced Crawford intead of Bradley in his last bout ( Crawford was one of the 3 choices Arum gave him ). Crawford was hoping for it, yet Pac snubbed him. thats why he made that statement after beating Postol to unify belts
Also Roach admitted 140 is Pacquiao best weight class, he said Manny needed tune up fights to see if he is ready for Crawford, who he described as a young Floyd.
That's more an excuse for Pac fans to why he is ducking Crawford.
1) Terence Crawford: two weight linear champ. Can fight orthodox or southpaw, can brawl, counter punch, use movement, just too slick and probably one of the most accomplished fighter iv'e ever seen. Only argument people have against him is to try to downplay his opponents while he still fought some elite fighters and wold champions.
2) Gennady Golovkin: Well he's a beast. He's got both pretty high level skills and that bone breaking power and will to get in your face for 12 rounds. He's a gladiator like no one else.
3) André Ward: As much as i don't really like him and his style, he's still pretty hard to beat because he's slick and he do his thang.
4) Errol Spence Jr: Just a big Welterweight who's having quite some skills, but is far away from the likes of Crawford and Ward in term of skills and slickness. His big strength is his physique, he's very strong, he hits hard and wear down his opponents. He's a kind of Golovkin with less skills imo.
5) Roman Gonzalez: Well it's record speak by itself. Only problem i see is that he's fighting in weak divisions, without much if any big names.
Ward won by hugging Kovalev. This was half wrestling, half boxing match. Even with Ward winning, hes clearly not the #1 p4p, i think it showed tonight.
1) Crawford 2) GGG 3) Ward 4) Gonzalez
Ward performance against Kovalev as not really impressive. He did wrestle kovalev for the first 5 rounds until he got him tired. From there he started winning the rounds on points. Ward is a clever fighter, more clever than Kovalev thats for sure. But he lack the offensive ability that separate him from my top 2 p4p fighters. Hes playing too much dirty tactics instead of just boxing.
floyd had a similar ko ratio to Bud before he moved to 147 and 154....just saying bro
at 147 and up he was in his 30s just like Bud will be entering soon and his ko ratio will drop as well with weight and age
floyd had a high ko ratio at 130-140 lbs....at 140 he stopped 2/3 opponents and was the first fighter to ever batter Corely like that and drop him several times....this is when Corely was a good solid top ten guy. only lost to Judah and someone else at that point.
Well if you look at Crawford resume, only 3 opponents have lasted 12 full rounds with him, that's Burns, Beltran and Postol. And Crawford also hurt them all, or dropped them during their fight. I mean that's freakin impressive!
Floyd also got a huge KO streak early in his career when fighting bums and outclassing them easily.
I don't think there's much of an argument to make about Floyd having as much power as Crawford. Crawford punch are so crisp, with only the eye test and hearing the sound of them you know it hurt. Crawford can throw just one punch and hurt his opponents badly. While floyd was more throwing combos to get some results. Like Floyd, Crawford is also very accurate with his punching. He never seem to waist a punch and he seem to never throw one to get a point, he aim to hurt his opponents or to set them up. Whilst Floyd often punched to gain some points, like jabbing to the body and stuff like that.
Not to take anything away from Mayweather offense, you are right that he had also some good power, specially as Pretty Boy. But, like i've always thought and said that Crawford and Mayweather are at the same level. But i give Crawford a slight edge on offense and Mayweather a slight edge en defense.
Prime Floyd vs Prime Crawford would be an awsome fight, no doubt. Definitely close. I like Crawford style more, he's more effective than Mayweather ever was with breaking down his opponents. That said, Mayweather is the best ever to win on points. I would say Maywather win a close decision against Crawford, he outpoint him, but Crawford hurt Mayweather way more than he get hurt.
This thread make me laugh. Keith ´oneslap ´ Thurman got no power, only one stoppage in his last 5 fights. Crawford got 4 in 5. Thurman too big? Lmfao he is a midjet at WW, crawford is taller and got longer arms. I see this fight been a complete shutout for Crawford, Thurman landing some soft power punch early, then Bud adjust and punish him for the rest of the fight. Easy work for Bud, Thurman is no different than the Gamboa or Diaz
So GGG is in your list only if he beats Canelo... No Kovalev... what a stupid racist. Lomachenko needs to fight a man that's about to fight Broner at 140 in order to prove something? he's a 130 pounder FFS.
Lmfao, when it comes to accusation of racism im totally out of it.
I'm so racist that i have Lomachenko at number 3 spot with around 10 wins. This is also why Carl Froch is one of my favorite boxer of all time and Mcgregor my favorite UFC fighter.
No, i based my list of eye test, logic, resume and achievement. I don't pretend to be all-knowing, this is my list today and we can argue.
i gave your azz red k for your horrible attempt to troll with this list , lol, if its not a troll attempt, lol, then you shouldve thought harder of who really deserves to be on a p4p, lol,
Fine but you get one too ;)
At this point i dont care but îm paying it back.
As for my list, you can not like it, but its mesured and reasonable. Unlike you
No Kovalev on your list with War as #2, even though 73% of boxing media people and an equal percentage of fans thought he beat Ward?
Yep. Actually Ward went a weight up and beated Kovalev. Maybe it was close, but i felt Ward was getting better with every rounds. He showed to me he was a more complete fighter. Kovalev is not enough versatil to me to be on the p4p list, and he's fading way too much past round 8.
