Can Crawford really beat either Spence or Thurman?

He might be able to out hustle Thurman, but that would be a boring fight. Thurman has switched gears and prefers lateral movement and counter-punching now. Crawford likes to get his shots in and move. I can see that one being a chess mess where each one waits too long to get off a punch, let alone a combination. It would be a very tactical fight with a lot of waiting. I don't see him beating Spence. Crawford got rocked by a much smaller Gamboa, Spence would get to him in the late rounds and break him down. Hence, Crawford never speaks of Spence, especially when Kellerman asked him about moving up to fight Spence, he looked like he saw a ghost. I'm kind of a skeptic when it comes to him against guys like Thurman, Porter, and Spence. For one, he hasn't fought anybody great at 140 that makes me think that he will go up and beat those guys. I mean, think about it, Sadam Ali, Jessie Vargas, Jeff Horn, and even Danny Garcia are better than anything that he has faced and they are considered second tier welters. Second of all, he doesn't have elite speed, power, or defense which is essential for fighters moving up to higher weight classes. People are looking at skill but people are not looking at speed and power which Spence, Thurman, and Porter have on him. So, let's wait and see how he does against second tier welters first.

Crawford will fight and beat both. He'll walk Thurman down or catch coming in. Against Spence, he'll give him angles and move around a lot.

What's awesome is that they are 3 totally different fighters and I suspect we get to see them all fight each other in the next few years. Spence's body work creates huge problems for any opponent. Thurman is a well rounded fighter who can make in fight adjustments. Crawford is the most skilled, but he's going to be smaller. I say that Spence beats Thurman and Thurman beats Crawford, but Crawford beats Spence, I'm not sure at all though.

If Crawford lands to Thurmans body even close to the way he did Indongo's.......

I think Cotto should fight Thurman or Spence. He should fight Spence, its a fight he could win and would get a lot of credit for taking. He could fight him while he is still inexperienced and he could win too. Or he should fight Thurman and Cotto's body shots would ko Thurman. One thing that Thurman can't take, and he has shown this in multiple fights, is body shots. He just can't take it to the body. This Cotto would get destroyed. Prime Cotto 50/50.

Overall, I think Bud is a more complete fighter than both guys and he is something special. Crawford is not faster than Thurman and Thurman is naturally the bigger man. Thurman could go up and compete at 154 while Crawford is a natural 135 pounder. Crawford is slightly more technical but Thurman has hom on foot speed, athleticism, defense, and power, and size. I have a feeling that this fight with end up like Casamayor vs Corrales 2 where speed and power wins the day over skills.

But I keep hearing majority saying Crawford is a great defensive fighter, and can do counter punching well Marcquez was a great counter puncher but was he really a great defensive fighter? Crawford is a good defensive fighter but he is not a Ward, Oscar, Pernell, Looche, Pernell, Floyd, Wilfred, Bernard.

It was hard for him to keep Spence off of him do you honestly think Crawford is going to be able to keep Spence off of him? Brook doesn't have as many tools as Bud and skill wise isn't even in the same stratosphere! Brook's footwork is terrible compared to Crawford's! Spence relies on his size, jab and power to win fights! When Spence tried to box with Brook it was dead even it wasn't until he realized he needed to grind him down and go on the inside is where he has more success and Crawford would stay strictly on the outside unlike Brook who would sit on the ropes and take flush shots to the body and on the head moving straight back without any lateral movement! Bud just needs to be concerted with taking risks and make Spence miss and pay quickly and get out of range! Would be a very good high intense chess match fight! Too bad it will never happen! Plus, it could be argued that Golovkin ruined Brook, and took his prime away. Brook had no business going up that high just for a payday IMO. Essentially, Spence seized upon damaged goods.

Perfect, Bud will.time their punches being the faster man and just as cerebral or even more and catch then slipping with counters! Bud has proven he can fight on the front foot and backfoot! Thurman doesnt fight well going forward and Spence hasn't shown he can fight off the backfoot! If brook, who is a bigger and stronger man, couldn't beat Spence I know Crawford won't. Too small. Think about Gamboa.

Yes, I would favour him over Spence. Thurman would be a lot trickier imo and I would give a slight edge to Thurman because he is used to the weight and I think is quicker than Crawford.
