Mikey Garcia was 39-0 (30 KOs) going into the Spence fight. José Benavidez Jr. was 27-0 (18 KOs) going into the Crawford fight.
Mikey Garcia went the full 12 with Spence and José Benavidez Jr. was stopped in the 12th by the referee.
José Benavidez Jr. is 26 years old and is 5'10" with a 74 inch reach, while Mikey Garcia is 31 years old and is 5'6" with a 68 inch reach.
If the Mikey Garcia that fought Spence fought the José Benavidez Jr. that fought Crawford, who would have won?
IMO Benavidez is way more dangerous than Mikey Garcia. Dude is 5'11, long, reachy, weight around 170 on fight night, got a lot of skills, hit hard, he is tough as nail, got shot, he also look like a mad man. I think he beats Mikey fairly easy and give trouble to any of the top welterweights if not beat them.
He is easily the most underrated win on Crawford resume.
Benavidez is a solid 6'0, not 5'11(i know, nitpicking). I'd definitely pick him to pick apart the mikey spence fought.

Benavidez is a waste of talent, dude got a gift against Herrera and almost lost to Santana(scores were a joke).
The win Crawford has against him(with a bum leg) is one of the most overrated wins I can remember recently.
I'm aware he walked himself into this situation, but I'm cutting Mikey some slack...I think it's incredibly difficult to move up two divisions in a short span. His body did not fill out for 147, he lost his speed, which was a crucial attribute to retain when moving up for a smaller fighter. He went about it all wrong. He got big headed and thought he didn't need to acclimate to a new division.
When Marquez jumped two divisions for Floyd, he looked fat. When he had those bouts at 140, you can see his body start transforming before he went to 147 again. It takes time and Mikey isn't the exception to the rule. So with time, Mikey could still compete near a high level at 147, but he's certainly better suited at 140. Anyways, it's hard to answer the question until I see Mikey get a little lighter on his feet and faster with his hands.
This is hilarious. So Mikey looking that bad didn't mainly have to do with Spence? What would Spence do to Benavidez? Does Benavidez even last 8 or 9 rounds with him?
Mikey is far superior than Benavidez.
José Benavidez Jr. aka the youngest ever Golden Gloves Champion at only sixteen years old, was ruined by the shooting at 26 maybe he can still become a champion soon day
Mikey could not handle Spence who is a great fighter who made Mikey look like garbage. Benavidez is an average fighter who mikey would easily KO. Everybody would have piked Mikey before Spence slaughtered him. Nothing has changed and average fighters can't beat Mikey just because Spence did.
No chance Mikey would stop Benavidez.
Mikey couldn't stop Lipinets, Broner, or Easter Jr.--- all smaller men, but now you expect him to stop a WELTERWEIGHT, one whom Crawford couldn't put away before the 12th round. That's despite the fact Crawford is a better and bigger fighter than Mikey?
Benavidez size alone would give Mikey troubles.
