Any guy who gets knocked down everytime he gets hit with a decent shot will never be a great fighter in my view .
But does prime Tyson have the feet to be fleetfooted?
I don't have any problem with Wlads tactical use of the clinch in that fight. I don't think it was excessive. He wasn't like John Ruiz or anything, he was protecting himself and I expect him to use that tactic for the rest of his career.
It's reminiscent of what Lennox Lewis used to do.
Chris Byrd is a fucking piece of fucking trash...
It is an act of god or allah or muhammad or some fucking divine shit that he has been able to keep his title for 4 fucking years...shit you can almost make the fucking case he hasnt won a fight in almost four fucking years.
Byrd is trash but he is also proof that religion is real, how else do you explain all of the fucking gifts!
Im not overstating any of this shit about Byrd-if anything I have grossly understated things.
Remember friends Byrd is trash and guaranteed poison to an already dieing HW division.
Fuck Chris Byrd!
I think I have an explanation for all your questions, .. . .
Don King.
Somehow I got even more respect for Byrd.
Wlad looked like he is going for a kill.
Byrd showed a lot of heart.
Hope he is allright.
I kinda felt bad for him, he took a real beating in the fifth. I've never been a Byrd fan but he's always been a pretty likable guy. At one point in the fifth. I was hoping the ref would show some mercy and stop the fight .
I looked for the rules on "holding", and found it more difficult than I thought it would be. I'm not going to spend all day looking for it, but I did find this in short order,
"Holding, per se, is only really holding when a boxer goes in, holds, refuses to break when commanded and simply does so with no apparent effort to score points, get in position, etc."
http://www.secondsout.com/RINGSIDE/scenes.cfm?ccs=357&cs=14394
According to this, I don't think Wlad wasn't holding. I call it clinching.
Why the fuck did the refree stop the fight, Byrd had him right where he wanted him. Wlad was tired and punching less and Byrd was starting to get his feet back. This was a terriable stoppage.
LOLOLOLOLLLLLL!!!!!! :D
I don't really have a favorite, but there are many boxers over the years that I've been a fan of. There is one that comes to mind that I would tell to "keep it in his pants, don't to marry that woman, and stay away from Don King".
I'm talking about prime versus prime, but thats just my opinion, Tua would not be intimitated, would have equal power, a great chin, great heart, Tyson would have to knock Tua out cold, which would be awfully awfully hard for him do with bare fists.
One things for sure, I would've loved to see that fight.
I tell you guys what, Tua would take Tyson in a real fight, i don't care what people say, David Tua is more of a man han Tyson will ever be, i'm sorry.
If they were to fight today I would agree, both fighters in their prime, Tyson kills Tua.
There was a time long ago when Tyson had the heart of a champion. Long ago .. .
See Tyson/Ruddock for one example.
Rahman looks like a powerful bull, Toney some bald cornerman with a gut. Maybe even the guy who carries the spit bucket.
Still have to favor Toney but he doesn't bear a passing resemblance to an athlete. The only definition on his body is the six pack of oscar mayer weiners on the back of his neck.
Seriously, the lack of pride he takes in his health and fitness is an embarrassment to his sport. Garbage in, garbage out, as it is often said. An athlete cannot succeed forever eating and abusing his body like Toney does.
If there's any justice in the world, Rahman knocks him out in the name of work ethic and for the good of boxing. Toney is a nasty, hateful guy who disrespects everyone in the sport, including himself, with the lousy shape he's showed up in.
I could care less about disrespecting Toney because he shows no respect for anyone else on the planet. A man like that is undeserving of honor and is owed nothing by anyone.
If Toney is interested in getting in shape and giving the sport his all, than good for him. If he can learn some humility and respect for others, I am all ready to be a fan. The way he is now though, and at 37 years old he probably won't change, fuck him.
Great post KA. I agree with everything. The saddest thing about it all IMO - is that he's a role model and some kids emulate his disrespecting ways and think it's cool. I'd love to be a fan of Toney but everytime he opens his mouth his verbal shit storm ruins what he's done in the ring. Some people even worship Toney for his lack of class. He can't retire early enough IMO and I hope rock kicks his ass.
Why do people think that the night buster douglas beat tyson that he could of beat anyone in history or givin any great heavyweight such as louis or ali etc . The fact is the tyson who was beat by douglas would of being beaten just as easily by tubbs, thomas, biggs , holmes , spinks, smith, tucker etc . tyson was a sitting duck that fight he showed no headmovement and just threw one punch at a time , he was a walking punchbag . its not hard to beat a guy who just stands in front of you to be hit which what tyson did throughout the whole fight .
Yea he wasn't to "Fleetfooted" in that fight.
Klitscho's going for the IBF title because it's more prestigious and comes with less risk than the WBO title. Would you drive a Kia if an Acura was available for less money? It's just smart management to go for the IBF "FIRST".
Having said that, I'm sure Don King would do anything to prevent a Brewster / Klitschko rematch and risk losing another piece of the title. King will make sure Brewster only fights people under a King contract. For Don King, it's not smart bussiness to make a Brewster / Klitschko fight.
Tua is the prime example as to how far having a big punch can take you. It's also his only boxing skill.
Also I don't think Tua ever won a title, unless your thinking of the USBA or the NABF
In regards to Tyson, he and Tua both fight a punchers fight plan, but Tyson was much more skilled in every catagory.
I'm still trying to figure out how DF figures that Rahman "chased Vitali into retirement".
What did Rahman pull a "Tanya Harding" on Vitali's knee or something?
Lewis has beaten every fighter he's ever faced (some by way of rematch). That distinction means more to him than anything including money. Vitali poses a real threat to that and that's why Lewis will never return or rematch.
Lewis isn't stupid. He knows he almost lost it when he fought Vitali.
That's a fightI would have loved to see.. .
Forman with his eyes closing from Wlads jab and left hook, chops Wlad down with body shots to win by the fifth.
Toney will make Wlad come to him.
That will never happen...
Even Rahman won't fall for that again.
Wlad will follow only till he is within range, like he does in all his fights. It's a mismatch for Toney and he doesn't stand a chance.
Russia had slavery (serfdom) until 1861... most of rural population in Russia were slaves...
All this should be put to past though...
WOW I didn't know that.. . . .
Anyway, back to the topic.
Ultimately, I think it was all those lead rights to the body that slowly took the fight out of Brewster, and that's why Liakhovich looked more comfortable as the fight went on.
You could almost see Brewster wince after those body shots later in the fight.
Not that I want him to come back to boxing, but I want him to be known as a general failure in everything he tries. Who else flew to Kiev, disguised themself as a citizen, and voted against him?
How did you reach the lever?
That was the greatest heavy weight fight I ever saw! Congratulations Sergei! Brewster has the greatest heart ever as well! Wow, what a fight!
A great fight indeed, but the greatest ever? I don't know, i'll have to think about that.
Despite how exciting that fight was and how good that performance was by Sergie, I still think Wlad would get him.
SL displayed some skills last night, and some flaws. For one, he gets hit too much. An offensively gifted fighter like Wlad should have a field day with that. Good chin and all, SL wouldn't withstand the kind of punishment that Wlad would deliver if he left himself open like he did last night. At times he didn't protect himself very well.
This might upset some people but IMO - SL is a KO waiting to happen.
. . . ..I think it is a very exicting time in the HW division... . .
I agree. If there were no promoters preventing fights it would be fun to watch the heavyweight division work itself out. Unfortunately, I've been saying this for several years.
I agree with j
Four questions for those that think Wlad is ducking Brewster,
1.What belt would you rather have WBO or IBF?
2.Who would you rather fight for a title Brewster or Byrd?
3.What fight is more likely for Wlad to make, the one with the opponent prompted by Don King or the one not promoted by Don King?
4.Would it be worth more money to fight Brewster for the WBO title or to fight Brewster in a WBO/IBF unification bout?
There are many reasons why Wlad should fight Byrd "FIRST". Mostly it's just smart career and financial management. Anyone who thinks Wlad "chose" Byrd first to duck Brewster is just being an idiot. They believe Brewster has a better chance of beating Wlad so fighting Byrd first doesn't fit their anti-Wlad agenda.
