great fight gotta love it and give props to lamon for staying on his feet. but this is hilarious i mean think about it.
they picked lyakovich out of nowhere, you know they thought he was a chump, he was rated 13th by the WBO, that means Brewster passed over theoretically more deserving fighters to fight him and got his ass whooped.
two things i will always remember about this fight..... Lyakovich must have landed 100 right hand leads to the body, it was ridiculous... and also, brewster weighs in at a career high for this fight, and loses.. coincidence??? im not so sure we shouldnt just stick him into the fat boy club with james toney. he will probably come in at 240 next fight.
instead of fighting brewster again lyakovich should say he feels like taking it easy and he wants to fight kali meehan and andrew golota before he gets around to defending his title against any top fighters. :boxing:
i wont forget lyakovich taunting brewster at the end of the fight. that was funny, someone get one of those snazzy video clips up
Yeah I do remember that, just not what round it happened.
To be honest, I didn't really think anything of it either,
probably because I was in shock at how well Sergei was doing lol
Sergei did ok, I thought we seen the best of him to be honest...Lamon didnt do much and paid dearly for obvious reasons. No excuses though Lamon got his ass handed to him and I dont see a reason for a rematch...Sergei should move onto bigger and better things. We need all the champs to move on and towards one another.
hopefully he will fight Sam Peter for the sake of the fans before he is done.A Samuel Peter vs Lamon Brewster fight would at least be an exciting fight for the fans and good for boxing, but in terms of skill, and deciding the best boxer in the divison, it would prove absolutely nothing, would be a great tear up though.
Did you notice Lamon whisper into the ear of Buddy Mcgirt I think in the 4th or 5th round and Buddy leans back and up and says "alright"....Wonder what was said, I am surprised the announcers didnt make note of it either.

Great fight.......probably fight of the years os far.I am very disappointed in Brewster god does he leave his chin wide open most of the time.Great heart and chin showed by both fighters........nothing much else to say but great fight fun to watch the type of shit that makes people boxing fans IMO. :boxing:
i just think it was more of a case with Lyko learning from the mistakes of other brewster opponents in the past like Klitschko, Krasniqi, etc...who were better boxers, ahead on cards, and ran out of gas...so I think Lyko took special note to their losses and did that little bit extra that they didn't..
He brought a chin.

Ultimately, I think it was all those lead rights to the body that slowly took the fight out of Brewster, and that's why Liakhovich looked more comfortable as the fight went on.
You could almost see Brewster wince after those body shots later in the fight.
lol, no way. Golota is a mental midget. that shit brewster did vs golota worked because Golota is a rather mentally unstable fighter. And He's a quitter too.
Also, you have to remember, that in order for Brewster to do that to you, you have to play along by standing in front of him like Golota did. Lyakhovich was smart enough not to make that mistake in the first round.
I don't know, Sergei still looked 100 times more relaxed than Golota did in the first round, and when Brewster did go after him he either made Brewster miss or just took the shots and kept fighting. I actually think that if Brewster had gone after him early we might have seen Sergei KO him late in the fight, as Brewster seemed to be dead tired for the entire second half of the fight.

i thought brewster had the opprutunity to come out and try to put lyko away early but instead he seemed intent on coming out and trying to show off some new found boxing skills.
if you ask me i thought lyko looked uncomfortable until about the 4th round, but brewster let him settle in and gain confidence. if brewster would have gone after him golota style i think he could have won the fight.
it was like brewster spent the first 5 rounds trying to display some skills that were never really there. by doing that he tired himself out while losing the rounds, i thought it was an extremely poor fight strategy all around.

A few hours before the fight, I was saying to myself that he is the savior of the heavyweight division.....:(
I think the majority of people were saying that whether they will admit it or not. Each of the current heavyweight crop has their bad nights so maybe this doesnt do much to damage Lamon...All I know is was that he didnt seem to be in the fight completely.

I was never sold on Brewster, ever since the fight with Kali Meehan. He has serious power, but he just doesnt have the boxing skills and you cant KO everyone. I pretty much saw this fight going to Sergei if it went to the scorecards, and he did have to walk through some heavy shots to make it to the distance. It seemed to me like the body shots really did a lot to keep Brewster zapped and fighting below his normal ability, that and Sergei surprized me a bit with his speed.

well thats definately not the case. nor will it ever be. he is an exciting fighter though and hopefully he will fight Sam Peter for the sake of the fans before he is done.
He always fights lazy I just watched the Sho telecast and didnt that girl who was interviewing him say something along the lines. That "Lamon you tend to get beaten in the fight and always leave yourself in a dire straights situation and come back to knock your opponent out" and didnt Lamon rebuttle with "Thats how I do, I will let my opponent get ahead and it drives me further to knock them out"....Didnt they speak something like that along the lines? It looks like Lamon was saying yeah I am lazy but I rely on my power to win fights and tonight will be no different.....
I like Lamon his style and his attitude but what he showed last night was his typical self but this time he stood in front of a guy that wouldnt back down....He reminded me of a old Mike Tyson who fought w/ nothing but power except he didnt quit when it got rough.
It's a shame I was really rooting for Lamon to be the type of guy to lead the HW division...It just got a whole lot messier.

When Wlad beats Byrd, 3 of the heavyweight champs will be Russian....This is like a nightmare come true!
he came in at a career high weight, its no wonder he fought lazy.
