If Canelo never fights GGG, his Mexican market will drop huge imo. From what I've seen, GGG is well liked by Mexican fight fans. All Golovkin needs is a name to fight so casuals will tune in and have a chance to see him.

In my opinion from what I've seen so far, Jermell is the better boxer with better defense and footwork. Jermall has more power.
I like their potential, and they have hearts of a lion. Canelo beats both of them though.
I can't speak for other countries, but GGG will BLOW UP in the states. America loves two types... dominant bad *sses with a golden smile, and humble polite bad *sses with a golden smile.
If you can beat some @ss, and remain humble with a million dollar smile... You'll sell in the states. Also, America loves accents. GGG is tailor made.
I'm speaking of American casuals of course, but they make up most of the market.
I think Amir's chin could handle whatever Lara's hands offered. Speed kills, but Lara's defense is great. They say styles make fights, and this one I'd like to see.
I got Khan in this one.
A guy with no professional boxing experience as a sacrificial lamb to pass marciano's 49-0 against the best of his generation in this sport
vs
An atg beating on amateurs(kids) for a potential gold medal he doesn't need just for the hell of it.
Both of these encounters are a farce and a slap in the face of boxing.
Canelo and Povetkin isn't the first nor will it be the last time a fight or two doesn't get made.
Very true.
I'm voting Manny vs. youngsters
I definitely don't want to see BOXING vs. mma because they are apples and oranges. Sure, a part of me wants Floyd to beat the hell out of Dana White's big mouth superstar, because they can't keep Floyd out of their mouths. Ronda Rousey was the worst. But Floyd kills McGregor in BOXING, and McGregor kills Floyd with mma rules.
To answer your question though, I'd watch Mayweather fight an mma fighter before watching an atg fight kids. I hate both ideas, but the Pacquiao in the Olympics is worse imo.
It amazes me how PRO BOXERS have been coming out saying just how damn hard GGG punches, yet we have FANS on here still talking about "meh, his power is overrated".
I'll never understand the mindset of individuals like that. Unless you've been hit by the man, or know someone who has... You know nothing.
If PRO BOXERS with lionhearts like Canelo are handing over WBC titles to avoid fighting the man, there's something to be said for his power.
My opinion
I understand TS is thinking of all possible options. I just don't see a WWE style "heel turn" going on here. When you have an entire country behind you, you don't try to make people hate you.
That's like Vince McMahon turning Stone Cold into a bad guy at the height of his popularity lol. You gotta wait til business starts drying up.
Too many posts it seems to me are "too short". Persons trying only to be *short/cute on words. Much of what I will read on boxing forums and other wise too. But, you try to be comprehensive!
Thanks man, I appreciate you! :beerchug:
Its a huge fight but khan canelo only hit about 400K in buys meaning this GGG fight would only do about 1 million at most. they are trying to squeeze out maybe another 400k
Maybe the man is legitimately worried of Golovkin. We can use the whole "building PPV hype" excuse all we want, but now Canelo can prolong the fight in hopes GGG ages. Plus, he is A side, so they'll be doing the whole 155 BS even though Canelo is a big boy. Also, the purse will be HUGE in Canelo's favor now.
When GGG turns down all of that BS... Golden Boy and Canelo can claim "GGG is ducking us!"
You're right, Canelo has a plan... just not the plan you're thinking. My opinion.
The more I've been thinking about it though, a Mayweather/McGregor PPV could be big for BOXING. I posted in another thread about it a few days ago.
Most young mma fans (kids) don't really know boxing superstars I'm assuming. They LOVE Conor McGregor. If half of those kids parents buy the PPV and see a BOXER knock their hero out... it may lead to intrigue. Could help BOXING gain some of those mma fans possibly.
wilder has been boxing 4 years longer than anthony joshua and is age 30 now, yet joshua is already better.
Put your faith in someone real like joshua, wilder will be a big disappointment to you.
lmaooooooooooooooooooooooo
if GGG truly believes he could beat Floyd at 154, then why not steal the lineal from Canelo at 155? Isn't that common sense as the perception that Canelo is inferior to Floyd? Is Canelo not worth the money?
Therefore, GGG wouldn't be able to beat Floyd, just wants the exposure and $$$ from listening to Abel and Loeffler. Oh wait a minute, its Abel and Loeffler always talking on GGGs behalf.
I almost think it's a respect thing. Floyd love him or hate him has earned respect. Canelo is trying to make up weight classes for world middle weight titles. It's a 160lb title. End of story. He hasn't earned that respect yet to be able to diva up the game.
My opinion.
GGG could've said, "I beat Canelo and everybody saw that I went through that diva demand at 155. I wanted to fight Floyd at 154 because he was going to retire and I wanted to fight the #1 p4p boxer in the world as I've always had respect for Floyd Mayweather Jr. That opportunity never happened so I fight Canelo for lineal you know this is boxing, juss, 154-168 is easy for me jusss this is is boxing you know." -GGG
That's funny :lol1:
