Floyd is very one dimensional, he never adjusts. He's just amazingly good at what he does and has never fought opponents who could take him out of his comfort zone that would force him to try and adjust.
Floyd is very, very overrated.
Fanboys bang on about Floyd adjusting when he's fought the same way for most of his professional career above lightweight.
Floyd does not adjust he just dominates using the same style because it's been good enough for him to conquer the men he has fought in this average era of boxers.
Could Floyd have pulled off his amazingly executed one dimensional style vs a Leonard, Hearns or Duran? Those men would have gave him two options >> 1. Die against the ropes, or >> 2. Fight back and show us what you got.
Could Floyd fight back if there was no other option?
Would he fain injury?
Would he quite on his stool?
Or would he never fight a man who he thinks might force those options upon him?
Thoughts?
Disagree. Inside/outside/forward/backward. He did it all.
yup agree with you on this he adjusted against Pac by stepping on his foot which he never did before.
How can you watch Mayweather fight Zab Judah then watch him fight Baldomir in the same year and say he fights the same ever fight? Clearly two completely different game plans.
Diego Corrales, Carlos Hernandez, Jesus Chavez.
Fought all 3 in the same year and fought all 3 differently.
Broke his right hand against Hernandez and fought the rest of the fight as a southpaw but you're telling me he can't make adjustments?
Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley.
Fought in the space of a year and fought both differently.
Even Maidana 1 and 2 aren't the same.
This thread is idiotic on so many levels.
One of the most idiotic threads I have read this year. I mean,
Of course Floyd will show Flashes of brilliance on the inside vs lesser company. He wouldn't dare pull that off vs a great pressure fighter because he knows he can't hang there. Please don't bring up Hatton.
he is effectively saying Floyd will choose an approach depending on the skill of his opponent. It's like he hasn't clocked onto the fact that choosing the most effective approach is something a fighter with multiple dimensions can and will do.
Floyd is great defensively but to call him a genius is a bit of a stretch. If his opponent isn't very good I'm sure Floyd can fight many ways.
When his opponents were a bit higher he is pretty samey
Well, I was hoping this wasn't a troll, but the joke's on me.
When have we ever seen Floyd going in and out of range mixing offence and defence with speed and fluidity while throwing combinations the whole time. I'm talking speed of body not hands. Watch Roberto Duran now that's what you call a proper dynamic fighter. Not Floyd Mayweather.
He went toe to toe with Cotto. It's not his fault Cotto didn't want to exchange back. And he has brawled but remaining defensively positioned. Watch the Gatti fight.
The Cotto fight he was offensive but hardly great brawling ffs. Infact I hate the word brawling, I prefer to use the term pressure fighter.
Gatti was garbage.
There is plenty Floyd couldn't do.
He can't integrate offence and defence with fluidity. He can't combo punch for ****.
Well, I was hoping this wasn't a troll, but the joke's on me.
Floyd has never brawled with anybody with a pulse.

now I know what they mean by alts... and is this the first time you mentioned IV in this thread? the real alt comes out
I'm not an alternative this is my first account on this forum.
Huh? He's shown us many, many styles. He even went toe to toe with Cotto while having a broken nose. He's brawled despite not being CLOSE to heavy handed and still came out victorious. What more do you simple minded casuals want?

didn't Ariza give Maidana ammonia inhalants vs Broner?
why tuck a piece of ''gauze'' in a napkin only to wipe what off exactly from Chino's nose, when Chino reacts to the napkin suspiciously and pushes the hand away? according to Ariza it was legal gauze which was concealed folded between a napkin. that's an awkward away of inserting something supposedly going into the mouth..
:boxing:
IV :wave::wave:
Floyd may not be james toney on the inside, but the dude is lethal there..
Just look at the uppercut he rocked cotto with late in the fight... That's an old floyd. And he is just carving up a younger, bigger cotto.. Look at the Corley fight anytime it gets to close range.. Floyd bombed away on famoso and chavez on the inside.. Anytime Corrales got close floyd wrecked him...
Floyd may not fight a lot on the inside, but the dude can be very effective when he does... And by no way is it true that he "can't" fight there
