I was a fan of Canelo until he dropped the belt with now rumors of him fighting Liam Smith next. He made Golovkin wait for over a year by giving him step aside money so that he can bank from a Cotto fight, then strung him along with this "one interim fight' crap against Amir Khan just to drop the belt and give the finger to GGG and all the fans.
I bought his ppv's against Lara, Angulo, Khan but will no longer purchase this mismatch crap again.
Canelo banks while the fans lose.
Until he either fights Lara, Golovkin, Saunders or Jacobs, no one should care about him. He got tons to prove, especially after his cowardly escape from Golovkin.
What he did do though is agree to fight Golovkin after each have a fight which is of course how he was able to get the extension. He could have simply dropped the belt after Cotto and fought Khan without the middleweight title and Golovkin could have got the WBC belt back then, so he certainly did waste his time.
he shouldnt have fought for the wbc vacant title in the first place, but i didnt see any complains from team ggg at the time, you are the mandatory for 2 years and allow the wbc to just let canelo fight for the vacant title...
I'm not mad. Don't think GGG camp is mad, they wanted the WBC belt and they got it. I think the people that are mad are the people who don't like Canelo for whatever reason. If he is comfortable at 154, then let him fight at that weight. Same for GGG, if he is comfortable at 160, then let him keep fighting there. Canelo's 155 fights were mostly against 154 lb fighters and to say they were at a disadvantage is ridiculous. It's not uncommon for non-title fights to be a few lbs above a certain weight limit. Canelo has not even fought any true middleweights, let alone GGG. If 160, then it's best for Canelo to take a few fights before GGG. Don't know what's next for GGG, 160 is a bit weak.
It's not fair, because he doesn't have to squeeze out that last lb., and hrs technically a MW at that point. He can't make 154 anymore, but won't make the step to officially weigh in at 160, because the second he does that is the second there's literally no excuses for him to not make the fight at 160 with GGG.
He was talking all that **** after the Khan fight, but now Wright's an issue? WTF? He ain't no warrior. He's clearly ***** made. CLEARLY.
I bought the Cotto and Khan fights, and have been considering Canelo one of my top 3 favorite fighters. But at this point, if he doesn't take the GGG fight, I will not be buying any more. I don't really love boxing anymore, to be honest; we never get what we want to see when we want to see it.
My sentiments exactly. I honestly haven't been following boxing for the past year or so. It's not even a sport anymore, and the best don't even fight the best. Canelo is boxings biggest pussi.
If it's not against ggg or one of charlo bros, then I'm not watching his crap. He literally made his own division to avoid the best at 160 and 154.
That's seirosuly the saddest **** ever that it's allowed in a "sport" to make your own division. I get it, if it's a huge money fight, and you make it at a CW, but he literally made his own division in order to duck a fighter.
Mexicans should be ashamed to have him as the face of their nation. Guys a freaking pussi.

I wouldn't call it "boycotting" for me. I would call it "I lost respect for Canelo and have no interest in his fights anymore".
yeah that how I feel I loved watching canelo fight was a huge fan as was my son , but so disappointed in the dodging of ggg its bull**** , canelo talked it up and I thought it was happening but then ...no the whole weight thing is crap why should ggg fight below middleweight 160 surely canelo can fight at 160 for christs sake just making the ****ing fight !!!this is why boxings not what it was the good fighters just don't fight each other anymore.

The WBC said Canelo and GGG could have one fight each before fighting each other and then Canelo had to fight him or forfeit his title and he had 15 days after he beat Khan to make a fight with GGG. Canelo almost immediately gave up the belt. So fault him for giving up the belt and not fighting GGG if you want. He isn't the first guy to chicken out of fighting GGG and he won't be the last. Don't make a federal case out of it and don't act like Canelo is the only guy who ducked or is ducking GGG. Martinez and Cotto both ducked GGG long before Canelo ducked him and Saunders and Jacobs won't fight him either.
Boycott is not even needed, let Oscar and GBP find out the hard way the Boxing Fans are not as DUMB as they think.
Honestly, I think you give boxing fans, in general, too much credit.
The boxing community is still talking about Pac's shoulder, Conor McG and Caneloweight. Once they're hooked, they're hooked.
People are paying for fights hoping to see it go against script.
You are confused or misinformed and need to get your facts right. Canelo never paid GGG a dime of step a side money or made him wait a single day. That was COTTO who did that, not Canelo. I never buy pfv fights. I just wait 7 days and see the same fight for free on HBO or Showtime which I already have. It's worth it to me to save $50 to $80 not seeing the fight live. Go ahead and boycott all of Canelo's fights if you want. It will have no effect on his career and how much money he gets paid or how successful his fights are financially.

1. Fighting Liam is not a bad thing, he holds a belt (GGG nut huggers are about #allthebelts )
2. Canelo did not make GGG wait a year, GGG was Canelo Mando for only 6 months and I don't hink Canelo gave GGG any side money (I could be wrong)
3. If you're going to criticize a fighter, make sure you have your facts straight and not look like YDKSB, just saying.
I was an actual fan. Didn't think he'd beat Floyd, the Lara fight was one I was ready to see. Then Kirkland happened, then Cotto and him scratching back and forth at the negotiating table, followed by the Amir Khan fight.. WTF!!!
I think what's more embarrassing for him is how he had the balls to call ggg into the ring, tell him we can do this right here right now then outta nowhere have a punani blossom in between his legs. I guess he was right in telling Abel he'd be surprised to see what's in between there.
That's right. IDK how I forgot about that one so quickly

I never was a Canelo fan because I felt like he was a manufactured star know what I mean? Guy's like May and Pac they were different.
But this retard literally let Golovkin punk him :lol1: so embarrassing.

Nah....
Lara
Charlo
Charlo
Andrade
Jacobs
Lemieux
Saunders
Really any top 10 MW is decent. It's perfectly understandable to establish himself at 160 before fighting GGG. Now that he doesn't have the belt he can take his time.

Is anyone else boycotting Canelo's ppvs from hereon out? | BoxingScene Community
