Dont Get Smart...mitchell Dropped Him First And He, (meaning Calzaghe Was Hurt)...mitchell Wasnt Nearly As Hurt, Calzaghe Paniced Threw A Ton Of Punches And Kept Looking At The Ref To Stop It..and The Ref Obliged..calzaghe Was In Trouble He Was Tired Hurt And The Ref Helped Him Out.. He Was Saved
What are you going on about?? I thought the stoppage was early, but Mitchell was hurt badly. Calzaghe was teeing off at will. He was definately not "saved".
Got my ticket for the fight and can't wait. Carl is gonna realise his dream and win the world title. I've seen a bit of Pascal and although he is quick I don't think his chin is upto much and when Carl lands flush hes gonna be on queer street.
The stoppage was good, Paulie was in danger of being knocked the **** out.
...and we wouldn't want that would we?
This is boxing isn't it? you know, punching your opponent in the face as hard as you can.
It was a horrendous stoppage btw, Paulie should have been allowed to finish the fight.
The Ghost will be back in the new year. The management issue has ruined 2008 for him, but last time I heard it was nearly sorted. His wife had completed her chemotherapy as well.
no, they should all be ignored.the only belt that should have any significance should be the ring belt.
Exactly. Fingers crossed that 5 years from now this will be the case.
I'd definately like to see Dawson and Hopkins square off. No doubt in my mind they are the two best at 175lbs and the fight will be for the ring belt as well as Dawson's strap. The talk is that Hopkins does not want a fight with Dawson so a rematch with Johnson would also be a big fight.
The Tarver fight is not a forgone conclusion though, Antonio is an world class boxer who needs to be taken seriously.
my football team is wba, i do more than my fair share of rooting for underdogs :D
Check under my user name mate...
We are going to prove the pundits wrong tommorow.
For the record, I am a fan of both. The two most skilled fighters of the last decade.
Of course he can. I don't think it'll happen, but he can do it.
Samurai is right about the jab; if Carl can use his jab effectively for the entire fight, he might give Taylor a lot of problems, as he has had issues with the jab in the past (Wright, Pavlik).
OTOH in the 2nd Pavlik fight, Taylor adjusted quite well and began landing counter rights over Kelly's jab; I can see this happening against Froch as well, especially since Carl throws his jab from the waist and leaves himself wide open for the right hook.
So IMO a good jab alone doesn't give Carl the win, but it gives him his best shot at it. If he doesn't use his jab, his only path to victory is a lucky KO whilst being way behind on the cards.
I know you are a big Taylor fan, and I am a big Froch fan. Its refreshing to see two boxers make a potentially dangerous fight for each of them.
It is certainly the case that when Carl uses his jab he is a much better fighter than when he doesn't. Against Pascal, Carl was dominating the mid rounds behind his jab, but when he abandoned it he looked vulnerable. The low left hand is something I just can't see Carl getting away with against Jermain. I know he has fought his whole career with that style but he must bring it up against Taylor otherwise he will be eating flush right hands all fight.
This is going to be a terrific fight and i'm gutted I can't make it.
Its good that setanta have got the fight, but I almost didn't want them to. I think this fight could be quite hard watching, ie; Jennings is going to get battered. I hope he can prove me wrong, but to be honest, there is more chance of me having a sixsome with Girls Aloud than there is of Jennings making it to the final bell.
I rank him just behind Sugar Ray Robinson at number 2 on my all time p4p list, just ahead of Armstrong. Demolished fellow all time greats in Mundine and Nardiello and put boxing clinics on Reid, Mitchell, Larson and Johnson. They'll never be anyone else like Ottke ever again....
...thank **** for for that!
Sven "I didn't bribe the judges...honest" Ottke is a decent fighter, but nothing special at all. Its sickens me that he retired undefeated with greats like Lopez and Marciano when in reality he should have at least two losses on his record (Reid and Larsen)
I don't consider myself a Hatton fan. His style doesn't appeal to me and his 'man of the people' persona is wearing thin, but to call him a 'bum' is just ridiculous.
Cotto won, correct, but he took one hell of a beatdown achieving that win. I suppose when you are fighting a living god like Michael "fook me" Jennings you have to expect to be put through hell.
