To clear things up Tavoris Cloud is not Dawson's mandatory yet. Tavoris Cloud beat Julio Gonzalez for the IBF title eliminator. Clinton Woods beat Elvir Muriqi for the IBF title eliminator. Woods and Cloud will fight for a FINAL IBF title eliminator thus becoming the mandatory and a shot at Dawson.
This happens all the time in boxing. Pavlik fought Miranda to be the mandatory for Taylor's belt. Povetkin beat Chambers in a FINAL eliminator bout.
Basically Dawson is free to fight whoever he wants after he beats Tarver.
B-Hop's record aint too good in those kinda fights......B-Hop would have to drop him and beat him up badly to get a decision.....anything close will go to Chad :cool2:
I agree. I think it's a bad style match up for Hopkins at this point in his career and I could actually see Dawson taking the fight.
Oh yeah your right Tunney forget my last post, but is the IBF going to enforce Dawson to fight his mandatory? Personally I wouldn't mind, it would silence any doubts that Dawson can't beat a puncher.
Adamek and Tarver are punchers and IMO better than Cloud( and a lot bigger) but i see what you're saying. I want to see this fight as well.
Hopkins can beat Dawson, i have no doubt in my mind.
Dawson poses problems for Hopkins because of his speed, size, his skillset and workrate.
Hopkins poses problems for Dawson because of his defense, ring smarts, counter punching and power.
I see a close fight.

You really think so my man. I don't think Dawson can take a decent punch. he wont fight Pavlik the way Hopkins did he will move but will get hit with more right hands since he carries his left low. Take a look at the Johnson fight Johnson was hammering him with right hands as will Pavlik but Pavlik will drop him....Lefty
Pavlik just isn't the same above 160, and he has serious trouble with speed and combinations. I agree that Dawson is not as crafty as Hopkins, so he wouldn't take away so much of Kelly's arsenal, but Dawson will always be first and Pavlik will spend the majority of the fight covering up.
I think it'd look like the Adamek fight, probably a little more competitive, because Pavlik works off of a jab at least. But I don't know if Pavlik can take punishment like Adamek did either.s
Dawson vs. Pavlik at 168= Pavlik getting made look silly again.

Maybe one day down the line Diaconu will make him pay for it. Tarver needed hi smouth shut he annoys me to the point of me wanting to throw something at my TV. I was glad when Dawson beat him around the ring. he really had nothing to say after the fight. Diaconu is a worthy opponent but like you said boxing is a business and right now Dawson has some sort of name and he wants some bigger money fights. Johnsn, Hopkins are all more $$$ then a match with Diaconu. Even though Diaconu vs Dawson may pose to be better match up for boxing fans. Well since when do us fans get what we want?....Lefty
That's right lefty.
I'm actually not very high on Diaconu TBH. Dawson should beat him quite easy (and for a small purse).
No question that it was a business decision. But the way things unfolded was as clear a duck as I've seen in recent years. Leaving Diaconu to dry like that wasn't very nice at all.

Bat he saw a bullet coming and bent down to let it go by. Can't blame the guy he had been chasing after Tarver for years and it finally came to a point where Tarver needed him more then he needed Tarver and Dawson made him pay for making him wait so long for the match.....Lefty

And I was talking about a blatant duck.

I know he was mandatory. But nothing wrong fighting Tarver instead of Diaconu. If they continue the way they are. They are sure to meet up again and hopefully for the ring title one day
I was talking about ring magazine ranking

Anyone with a pulse under the age of 35 will be better then Tarver....Lefty
Antonio Tarver can only do worse IMO, he seemed to find some old form against Clinton Woods, and i felt he fought ok against Chad Dawson. Better than he had in the last few years or so. And i feel he can only get worse at his age IMO.
Chad Dawson will just overwhelm him with his combination's and speed like he did the first time, i don't see how Antonio Tarver can counter that at his age. Considering he has never been a defensive master or a speed demon even in his prime.
The only chance he has is land that powerful left hand of his, when Chad Dawson takes rounds off. Because Chad Dawson does have a suspect chin IMO, im not saying he has a weak chin. But his chin is breakable enough for Antonio Tarver to turn out his lights with his left hand.
But maybe Antonio Tarver can do better, he always does do better in rematches. Eric Harding 2, Roy Jones Jr 2, Glen Johnson 2.
He has never lost a rematch... That's about the only interesting thing about this, and it will further enhance Chad's resume although you don't want to have a resume filled with has beens when you hit 30. That's why i say target that Englishman who wanted to fight Calzaghe, he's still in his prime and i think he's undefeated (like half european fighters are no pun intended)

I'd go after that Englishman who wanted to fight Calzaghe, Foster or Froster sorry can't remember his name, or Hopkins.
I'd definately like to see Dawson and Hopkins square off. No doubt in my mind they are the two best at 175lbs and the fight will be for the ring belt as well as Dawson's strap. The talk is that Hopkins does not want a fight with Dawson so a rematch with Johnson would also be a big fight.
The Tarver fight is not a forgone conclusion though, Antonio is an world class boxer who needs to be taken seriously.
