In my personal opinion Loaded Gloves is the worst...
You could kill someone with loaded gloves...especially if they sustain a long period of one-sided punishment...
Biting isnt a good thing but at least its not done secretly and it wont kill you...its tacky but it wont SERIOUSLY hurt anyone in the long run.
Steriods are a cheap method to be bigger and stronger that is done secretly...
however loaded gloves are the worst because one can take steriods to simply be BETTER than their opponent (ie; faster, stronger; etc.) but with loaded gloves your sole intent is to PUNISH your opponent...i believe you could take steriods just to have certain advantages over an opponent but not intend to hurt them like you would loading your gloves.
so for me (in order) its:
A) loaded gloves
B) steriods
C) biting
thats how i see it.
Its possible to slip it past the commission i believe but im going to say its not very likely to slip it past the actual fighter whose hands you're wrapping...not at the level cotto and margarito are at...
maybe a 16 year old kid of the street with little knowledge but not superstars at this age and this experience level.
margarito knew exactly what he was doing.
thats my opinion.
Floyd mayweather will be missed more...
he was the top p4p fighter in the world...an undefeated one at that...one who talked a lot of trash and was always in the spotlight...
when he stopped fighting after the hatton fight the boxing world got quite...fights came and gone but it seemed too quite overall.
when floyd was around he was always in everyone's conversations like:
"did you hear what floyd called so-and-so fighter?"
"who will mayweather fight next?"
"how can so-and-so beat mayweather?"
and all the other side conversations that came along with it.
Now there isnt a clear top dog who is undefeated that everyone is chasing that is as loud as floyd...
love him or hate him boxing is better with him.
I believe Pacman wants Cotto over mosley because:
A) NOT money (mosley is the bigger name...plain and simple...i read a handful of posts that claim this was the reason...mosley is a future HOF'er...he brings the numbers over cotto)
B) Cotto beat mosley (he wants cotto as it would be a bigger statement win since cotto beat mosley)
C) cotto is closer to pacquiaos size (and fighting style)
D) and because he might see a vulnerability in cotto since he lost to margarito.
or
im not accusing him of anything but he could view cotto as the safer fight.
that's my prediction.
pac too strong, too quick, and hits hard.
Hatton won't be able to handle the power, and Hatton isn't exactly rock solid when it comes to taking punches.
I think pac hits harder than Mayweather, and we all know what happend in december of 07.
In my opinon Pacman beats hatton...if he works him real good he can stop him late...
hatton is slowing down...the only reason that didnt show in the paulie malignaggi fight is because malignaggi fights at a much slower pace than pacman...paulie trys to be crafty and win on precision punching...pacman is much more of a speedier fighter.
hatton comes on looking good for the first few rounds but then he wears down from trying to keep pace with manny.
end result...close but clear UD for pacman or potentially a 10 round or so TKO win for manny.
The winner of cotto v. manny is the correct opponent in my opinion. OR the winner of a cotto v. mosley rematch.
i think mosley, cotto, pacman are THEE toughest opponents floyd can find...and also the ones that can make him the most money! if he loves money so much taking a fight that ISNT one of these 3 would be a bad decision on his part.
for once the money and the legacy are the same fight for floyd.
clottey and berto wouldnt be right. i think they'd be too easy of a fight for floyd. especially since berto is still too green to handle an elite p4p fighter...especially one like floyd. paul williams is a bit of a stretch for mayweather because i dont see him going back up in weight...especially for someone like williams who is more high risk than he is a reward to floyd. if floyd loses it makes him look terrible and williams has an interesting style to say the least...not to mention his height. if floyd wins it wont prove much in my opinion because many will say williams wasnt a good enough of an opponent.
so somewhere between cotto and pacman but mosley also could deserve a shot but im not sure if its a little to late for him to beat a mayweather (i mean hes got to be close to slowing down).
i agree with AssasinKing .. its the way he fights.. from the outside.. he hardly ever stand in and trades hard shots.. if he does get rocked with a hard hit from marquez i expect the bicycle for the rest of the night .. and floyd cruises to the UD
i agree with your post.
I think floyd will be willing to trade a bit more since of the size advantage he has over JMM but if JMM starts getting the better of him in close (ie. winning rounds over floyd!) or if floyd gets popped with a good one and his balance starts to go a little screwy then i expect him to hope on the bike and treat him more like he would any other opponent.
JMM is a GREAT body puncher though so floyd may not even take the risk of allowing JMM the chance to land that perfect body shot.
time will tell. i just expect a little more brawl in mayweather's gameplan (or as much brawl as a floyd mayweather could do at least).
the probable outcome is mayweather via close decision.
however i will root for JMM. he's a good guy and nearing the end of his career it would be great to see him get one last major win on his record.
...and in a way I still don't. His flat out weird-ness, the crazy knee high purple socks/flashy purple trunks falling around his ass, faggy haircut, etc...
But after last Saturday's card, he not only proved he can fight, and move, and honestly flat out kick Juan Diaz's ass, but after the fight he spoke up. Not in a whiney, victimized kind of way - but in a way that's like "hey, I told you this was gonna happen, it did happen, and it ****ing sucks." He didn't take anything from Diaz, or make it personal - just spoke his mind and said what he felt.
Pretty solid dude.
i dont know whats up with him now. he's gotten more...creative...with his appearance in the ring.
from buddy's barber shop in the second ndou fight to whatever the hell he was wearin when he fought diaz.
idk...
but i like the way he spoke up. Most people might have backed off on the accusation leading up to the fight because many would view them as having an excuse ready but afterwards he was clearly right in bringing it up (as proved by the crazy scoring) and then he basically rubbed it back in everyone else's face by bringing it to the attention of everyone (incase we were blind and didnt notice on our own) and arguing he won. but he did it in all class kind of way.
sure he could have said diaz was nothing and he did this and that to him and yada yada yada. but he said it more than once that he wasnt taking anything away from diaz or the fans in texas....just the fuked up juding and corrupt commission.
he put it well.
i also liked the way nate campbell handled it in the ring with the california commission. you can hear him in the background saying, "commissioner, you know i never complained about any decisions but this is wrong!" and he repeated it like 3 times...haha. im sure that was a much toned down version of what he really wanted to say but i felt he had a legit claim so no harm done.
i just hate it when fighters act that way when they are clearly wrong. they just look stupid then.
i'd rather see bradley v. campbell II first. cuz campbell deserves a rematch.
Paulie should look for another title in the meantime. maybe get it from urango? it would help him with his selling point of getting the level of meaningful fights he wants...as in against the bigger name competition.
Im just glad roach is being honest.
It would have been real easy to sit up there and talk about all of cotto's flaws instead of his accomplishments and from the sounds of it thats how pacman is taking it.
I've said since the IDEA of this fight being brought up that it was going to be a very tough fight for both guys. I will even go out on a limb and say its probably THEE toughest fight of BOTH of their careers.
I know many will point out margarito and some of pacman's tough fights against mexican warriors but this is entirely different if you ask me. This pretty much determines the best between 140-147 in the WORLD!
I know many are thinking, "what about mosley?" and granted hes a hall of famer no question but im talking CURRENTLY and while he was extremely impressive winning over margarito; cotto beat mosley. and pacman is viewed as top fighter as well...so i really think this fight will come down to all the parts needed for a thiller:
whats on the line?
A) Money. this should sell VERY well given the popularity and the exciting style both fighters bring to the table.
B) The Belt. Its for the WBO WW championship. status is there.
C) P4p rankings. whoever wins will either be the top p4p fighter or at the least within the top 5.
D) Status. This fight will end up deciding many things in these couple of weight classes and the winner will have press and fighters lined up around the block wanting to get a shot at them (either for questions...or for a title shot).
In my opinion this fight is bigger than floyd v. marquez. only way it (pacman v. cotto) gets outshadowed is if marquez does something stellar like knocks out floyd; etc.
a floyd win and it will all be forgotten come november.
thats speaks volumes of the importance of this fight.
so this is no walk in the park for either fighter and i'd really lose appreciation for whoever comes into this fight expecting an easy ride.
Something is wrong with some of you cats if you think this shit is hot.

no my friend...
this is fu*kin disgusting: http://hosted.archivecash.com/chubbycheaters/p068/images/03.jpg
havin ass is one thing being fat is another.
Let me put it this way...
if Floyd wins im not going to be the least bit suprised.
However. I WOULD be suprised if JMM won in ANY fashion. decision, knockout, etc.
If JMM got a decision over floyd it would be more impressive (to me anyway) than if he just knocked him out.
I think JMM and Floyd both know whos EXPECTED to win. and I will give credit to floyd for winning the fight but if he goes on to proclaim some type of greatness by winning then that would just tick me off because we all know there was MUCH better competition out there like pacman or cotto. those two are in much better condition to be fighting someone so skilled.
no knock on JMM he's a GREAT fighter (not a good one...a great one) but his time is running out and for that reason i think floyd is getting a bit of a easier ride than if he went after pacman or cotto.
so yea.
oh yeah...he really "Schooled" him...
and in that fight froch got a bit lucky in that last round. had he not knocked out taylor in the final seconds taylor would have won that fight on points...
Im glad Dibella is on page with what i was thinking.
Maybe taking it to NY is unfair because if paulie were to win then diaz and company would probably pull the "it was the judging card" if it were even remotely possible to argue that.
i think that should be avoided and it should be held in a territory not favorable to either fighter with judges not favorable to either fighter...not one from each hometown and another...ALL 3 should be some somewhere else.
infact why not just do it in vegas as a co-feature to a PPV fight? it would work well as the co-feature to pacman v. cotto. infact that would make that PPV EXCELLENT and WELL worth the $50. how many times do you have two fights worthy of being headliners on a PPV. not very often.
perfect selling point. then you have the choice of VERY experienced judges who are USED TO scoring big vegas title fights. someone with EXPERIENCE.
of course im for a rematch.
only way i'd say forget it is if a bigger offer becomes available first because in a weird way the pressure is more on diaz than paulie to be honest. many are viewing diaz as the loser so diaz might have to take the fight or live with the shadow of doubt his "hometown judges" created.
i dont know who pavliks mandatories are but i dont think it matters because im sure pavlik would make his mandatories look like mandatories...ie pavlik by KO within 6rds.
Boxing is much more exciting now that he's back. While he was gone, I was hoping he'd come back. I'm not a fan of Mayweather, but boxing is better with him. It's great entertainment.
i agree completely. i dont always like his antics. sometimes they are a little to juvenile; even for boxing's standards.
I think he's a great showman. He brings the entertainment/buzz aspect to the limelight of the sport.
I admire floyds work in the ring though. pot shotting or not. whatever the arguement is he's still a talented/skilled fighter who brings the drama to the sport that i feel it lacks sometimes.
boxing needs outspoken showmen. just look at the hype guys like ali created that made boxing so popular. im not saying it would have been boring without guys like ali but they bring a new dynamic to the sport and always seem to turn casual fans into hardcore ones.
same thing goes for mayweather. at the very least he'll create drama and buzz against himself. playing the villan role. but in the end it doesnt matter because it always puts butts in the seats.
Floyd very well may be the fighter that creates the most buzz and sales who is most hated.
he fills up the seats with people wanting to see him fail. but what does he care? he's still putting their butts in the seats...no matter if they are rooting for or against him it still brings attention and money into his pockets.
No.
Hatton beats Mallignaggi any day of the week. The only reason he looked good was because Diaz has very little power, and he could let his combo's go. And remember, Mallignaggi was getting beat up by Hatton even though he was running for the whole fight. If he fought Hatton how he fought Diaz he would have been destroyed.
Basically, Hatton is better than what people give him credit for. Mallignaggi is decent. Diaz is, and was, overrated.
hatton is a bit one dimensional no offense.
paulie was getting it from hatton. no doubt about it BUT i think the paulie that beat diaz beats hatton.
in all weeks leading up to the fight and all the threads about gameplans for both i always talked about the key things paulie (just so happened) to use in the diaz fight which was:
A) Speed - in the hatton fight he was more or less using all his speed on that bike. which wasnt what i was referring to. by speed i mean he obviously has faster hand/foot speed than hatton and if you say otherwise you're crazy. especially the hatton he fought...which has slowed down a little bit in the last year.
B) force hatton to fight YOUR fight (ie. for paulie it would be a boxing match...not a brawl). this goes back to my first point, use your speed and boxing ability (stick and move like he did with diaZ) to score points on hatton while staying on your toes. hatton couldnt catch paulie's speed. especially the speed in the diaz fight. even juan had trouble keeping up and he's much younger than hatton and not even in his prime yet. give him two years or so and he'll be on his BEST game.
C) the defense/ring generalship. no need to explain. just watch the diaz fight to see what i mean compared to how he handled hatton.
if paulie did those things (as he did do in the diaz fight) he would have etched out a decision from hatton. i mean juan lazcano of all people gave hatton a run for his money in a TUNE UP FIGHT.
Paulie Malignaggi looks like he has become a better fighter since leaving Buddy McGirt. He mentioned that his skills deteriorated studying with McGirt and he feels that he is returning back to original form with his new coach. Paulie mentioned that McGirt only knows how to teach in one way which was not beneficial for him. In some ways this reminds me of the union between Emmanuel Stewart and Jermaine Taylor which just didn't work. Do you think the outcome of the fight between Malignaggi and Hatton would have been different if Malignaggi wasn't trained by McGirt?
well judging what i seen him do against diaz and how in shape and sharp he looked i'd have to say he would at LEAST had a better chance at beating hatton. he still could have lost but would have looked a lot better overall.
since the first ndou fight paulie started slipping. i gave him a pass on the second ndou fight cuz he fractured his hand in the fight. but he was slowing down. looking a little slower in each fight. using his hands less and less; etc.
the way he came out and fought diaz was the way i thought he'd look against hatton. i mean his speed is great again...he's punching a whole lot more (949 punches in the diaz fight. thats got to be a career high for him) so the rounds are starting to go his way more and more.
since i havent seen anything else change (other than he fought UNDER 140 against diaz and if those few pounds helped he should go down cuz he looks like a better fighter overall) i'd assume the trainer made the difference.
we will have to wait and see how he looks in his next fight before we can determine if mcgirt really held him back that far behind his potential.
It might have helped his career, but it does boxing as a sport no favors. It just shows me how political of a sport boxing has become. I used to love watching these wars but when you have outcomes like this all of the time just because you have so much invested in a fighter, it just gets ridiculous. There have been so many awful decisions over the last 5 years or so that something needs to be done. Our once beloved sport is becoming way to corrupt.
well i agree.
except for the fact i think it exposes the courruption by paulie really speaking out in the post fight interview. bringing to light that he was wronged and seemed to have enough proof to make 80 something or 90 something percent of the US to believe him (according to a poll on ESPN where 80 or 90 percent of the voters agreed paulie was wronged).
so it makes him come out like a winner (i dont think too many people really believe in their heart he lost or lost fairly to say the least) and thats why there is talk of him fighting bradley. if diaz just knocked him out in the 8th round or whatnot we wouldnt be having this conversation right?
and it really has brought courruption to the limelight. yes fighters alledge being robbed often. but not to many make as big of a ruckus about it as paulie does. he put his heart on his sleeve and preached.
and the fact he alledged it would happen before the fight ever took place and it just so happened that one of the judges he accused gave him the worst score of them all really does make him look like the good guy in the situation.
so i think for his career and boxing as a whole overall it was a brilliant night for both of them. paulie probably didnt even realize it though.
I got nothing against floyd but he's not the best boxing mind since ali.
or the biggest attraction since ali.
oscar de la hoya was a bigger attraction that mayweather. he's loved by many. in fact many have heard of oscar de la hoya even if they had NEVER saw him fight. he's that famous. what about guys like TYSON? people use to flock to see for a whole round or two before he'd knockout the next man. he was a beast and people loved to see him just tear guys apart.
mayweather is a good showman. he knows how to get people's attention. sure he trash talks alot. he knows how to sell fights. and thats a great thing. but he's not the greatest mind since ali. thats not fair to compare him to ali though. for his time ali was a genius. a jimi hendrix of his time if you will.
I like a prime mike tyson better.
Before the douglas fight (and his weakness was exposed) tyson was an absolute beast. He use to scare his opponents before ever stepping into the ring with them (or at least some of them anyway).
He just appeared as this undestructable animal that was going to beat the brakes off you.
good defense and speed and an uppercut that makes you cringe when you see it land.
This is no knock on lewis obviously...he's the last great heavyweight! And has tons of knowledge and skill. oh, and natural talent helps too ;)
help out and just sign this petition.
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/Malignaggi-Diaz-rematch
Lets help get what he deserves and thats a fair rematch.
you beat me to it. haha. i was just about to post the same thing.
If you're asking which is harder RIGHT NOW i'd say clottey. he's got more experience and he's a good boxer/puncher who can mix it up if need be. title or no title berto is still too green for someone like mosley.
if mosley fought berto i'd expect him to win via UD.
mosley still wouldnt have the hardest time in the world beating clottey either though. maybe a close UD or clear cut SD.
Knockouts? possible but i think its more likely for mosley to decision either of them.
I think the fight for mosley and cotto right now are each other. THATS who they should be fighting. since all of the margarito controversey and the fact mosley beat him and cotto beat mosley i think its safe to say the top WW is the product of the winner of a rematch.
thats right i said it.
the first fight was close so im assuming a second fight will leave no open questions. if cotto wins it shows he's the top WW and if mosley defeats him in a rematch is opens the door for a trilogy to give the WW a clear cut top fighter.
Im not even voting in the poll cuz the answer should be obvious.
but i think its good football players get into boxing training more and more. its always interesting to see them in a pair of boxing gloves and in the gym. some guys look decnt. like chad looks decent. but obviously you cant compare who would win in a sport when one is a pro at it and the other a pro at a different sport.
its been outdone.
in a game of football chad whipes the field with berto's face and in a boxing match berto puts him out cold. duh.
The first 2 Evander-Bowe fights went the distance and they were damn good. If we are talking LESS than 12 then I would definitely have to say Corrales-Castillo 1 since its the best fight I ever saw IMHO.
A fight people forget about is Arce vs Hussein-Hussein 1. It was a great fight and would've gotten fight of the year if it wasn't in the same year as Corrales-Castillo 1.
quoted for truth!
im telling you. that was an amazing fight. the 10th round was one of if not THEE best round ever in boxing. Hollywood couldnt have written something as great as those few moments.
The way i'd advertise it is trying to push floyd jr as making a comeback for being top p4p fighter. since marquez isnt as popular with the casual boxing community i'd bring up a fight in which marquez WAS seen by the boxing public which was his fights with pacman and how he beat pacman in a fight.
beyond that i really wouldnt know how to go about it...
i just know what to AVOID saying...
which is...
NEVER (under ANY circumstances) promote this as a battle, war, the hint of a KO, etc.
all that does is trick some casual fans to buy it and then get turned off from the sport because it wasnt a KO as advertised or a battle as advertised.
However...i know they will show several clips of mayweather/JMM scoring knockdowns and turning it into something its not. and thats wrong.
