Sorry if this topic has already been posted; I didn't see it. Anyway, we've already "felt" and continue to "feel" the loss of Floyd Mayweather. Will Calzaghe be as "missed" as Floyd in retirement? Or will the boxing world get over Joe's retirement rather quickly?
Pacquiao shouldn't ever fight again in 147 he should stick to 140 or under. The guy has only had one fight in 135 and when up in weight to fight a slow weak De la Hoya who lost weight, but didn't gain any speed.
Pacman is a small fighter that shouldn't look to fight stronger punchers. He can be defeated by bigger fighters, but those fighter would have to catch up with him first. If they do he can be knocked out. He's been hurt by smaller fighter so its all a matter of who can reach him.
There is no one in 147 who should fear him, perhaps he can beat them, but he can't hurt them. Atleast not in a matter of real danger. Theres no real fear in fighting Pacquiao for fighter that weigh in 147, unless they fear defeat. Pacquiao on the other hand can fear both-defeat and being seriously hurt.
Is this a reply to a thread that says "Who will be missed more after retirement? Joe or Floyd "
or is there a techinical problem?
Mayweather - simply because there are more huge fights around his weight class than Joes.
Joe had 2 real options - Dawson or Hopkins 2. From an aesthetic point of view, no one wanted to see the Hopkins rematch again. And the Dawson fight really doesnt scream "Mega Fight" yet. Even though Id have liked to have seen it.
Mayweather has got Pacquiao, Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, Williams, Clottey and even Hatton rematch when he beats Pacquiao. Floyd has more fights that the fans wanna see available to him.
Floyd mayweather will be missed more...
he was the top p4p fighter in the world...an undefeated one at that...one who talked a lot of trash and was always in the spotlight...
when he stopped fighting after the hatton fight the boxing world got quite...fights came and gone but it seemed too quite overall.
when floyd was around he was always in everyone's conversations like:
"did you hear what floyd called so-and-so fighter?"
"who will mayweather fight next?"
"how can so-and-so beat mayweather?"
and all the other side conversations that came along with it.
Now there isnt a clear top dog who is undefeated that everyone is chasing that is as loud as floyd...
love him or hate him boxing is better with him.

Floyd Mayweather because people want to see him beat and a lot of people, myself included, want to see Pacquiao-Mayweather really bad.
Joe Calzaghe-Bernard Hopkins II would be awesome to me, but not as many people want to see it. There is also Chad Dawson. Bernard Hopkins-Chad Dawson is a good settlement fight.
Pacquiao-Cotto to me does not have the same flare for "THE SPORT'S BEST" like Mayweather Pacquiao does. So Mayweather will be missed more.
