Going back 50 years in boxing, name some fighters that you thought were almost impossible to knock out. Weather it was because they took a great shot,or because they were such great defensive fighters that it was difficult to catch them with big shots.
Id go with
Ali
Marvin Hagler
Ray Robinson
Bernard Hopkins
James Toney
Floyd Mayweather jr
Pernell Whitaker
Just to name a fewShane Mosley

1. a murderer, esp. one who kills a politically prominent person for fanatical or monetary reasons.
A murderer. Of course, when calling Pac The Mexican "Assassin", its done metaphorically. But this is implying that Manny has completely dominated and destroyed his iconic Mexican opposition. But upon further inspection, has he really?
Pac's first encounter with a Mexican legend, MAB, did result in a complete domination and all out embarrassment of the legend, but his next fight, he failed to replicate the same kind of performance against JMM, who at the time, wasn't proven to be on the same level of MAB. Pac dropped him 3 times in the first round only to allow JMM to outbox/class Pac up till the end of the fight. Whether Pac won that or not is irrelevant because he did not destroy Marquez. Thats not very "assasin" like. Then the next legend to take a shot at Pac, Erik Morales, LEGITIMATELY defeats Pacquiao in a fight where Erik went toe to toe with the Pacster. Of course, Pac's later rendezvous with both Morales and Barrera resulted in complete annihilation of them, but for anyone to not recognize that these war ravaged fighters were already quite past their prime would be just...well, groupie-esque for Pac.
He has ended Morales and Barrera. This is the truth.
JMM? yes, he has been outboxed by one of the best boxer in the world today. We have to wait March 15 to have a response but he deserves his name.
If Cotto can beat Mosely, he can beat Floyd. Whether or not Cotto would actually beat Floyd is another matter altogether. If Floyd ducks Cotto, the respect he just earned against Hatton will quickly evaporate. Fighting Cotto is a must....even if it's the last fight of Floyd's career.
Anybody disagree?
Mosley did an horrible mistake staying in front of Miguel Cotto facing him with bombs. When he changed tactic moving and using his speed he was winning round but it was too late (I won 3 of the 4 last rounds... ad 37...).
Floyd won't repeat the same mistake.
Floyd by decision.
Clean punching > Pressure (especially ineffective pressure).
Did Hatton land anything worth landing last night?
True, but mayweather stayed too much in the corners sometimes. In a close, difficult round to scoring where compubox speaks a draw i watch ring generalship. Here's my scorecard
1)hatton
2)hatton
3)mayweather
4)mayweather
5)hatton
6)even
7)mayweather
8)mayweather
9)mayweather
5-3-1 for mayweather.
And it is true, PW does call out just about every welterweight. But the reason he hasn't gotten a fight is because there is NO MONEY in a fight with PW. It is too much risk for too little reward. Honestly, outside of boxing fans who has heard of PW? I was at the Home Depot he had fight with Margarito, the venue seats maybe 5000 people and the place was easily half empty.
The truth is PW hasn't fought anyone. What elite fighter has he fought? Much less, has a win against? His only notable wins came against "B" level (Mitchell, Mathysse,*Margarito) competition, at best. Because he hasn't fought an "A" level fighter no one knows how he is going to respond when he faces real adversity. Plus, he's a very tall southpaw that throws many punches. That combination equals too much risk for NO MONEY.
My prediction is PW will not get a major fight in 2008 unless he KO'S Quintana impressively. A mere decision won't prove anything.
Having that said, if he does KO Quintana impressively, who would you like to see him fight first? Mayweather, Cotto, or Mosley
* In my book, at the moment, both PW and Margarito are unproven fighters because neither of them have ANY notable wins against an elite fighter.
His story likes Hagler's. If he will destroy Quintana, and then others good ww. he will have his chanche.
If he is so stong, we will see his attitude, power and talent dominate the division.
If.
If he loses ?
First there was Hopkins...
Then came Winky...
Now it's RJJ...
Roy Jones even being a shot fighter is still capable of pulling a UD or even a KO with his boxing skills , speed and defence. Just how is the one dimensional Felix Trinidad gonna penetrate RJJ defence and outside fighting skills ?
I cant see Tito winning. So I ask this question, Will Trinidad retire again for the 3rd time should he loes ?
Why does he make these ridiculous comebacks against P4P fighters ? Does he need the cash ? He could be fighting Edison Miranda as a starter fight then make his waay up to Roy.
I think so. (I hope so for him and his overrated legacy)
Muahamad Ali: -especially in pre-fights
2. James Toney:
3. Wikny Wright: - see Taylor VS Wright
4. Marco Antonio Barrera : see 12th round Barrera-Hamed. He slammed Hamed's face into a turnbakle cause he knew he was winning the fight. Pure arrogance.
5. Naseem Hamed :Uh!
Top Five Most Humble (in no particular order)
1. Glen Johnson : - "I'm not the best, i just want to fight the best"
2. Shane Mosely : great.
3. Joe Luis Castillo - very honest guy
4. Diego Corrales : - Confident guy, took losses with dignity
5. Jermain Taylorhe's nice
I heard Margarito was gonna fight Castillo, so I guess it's whoever offers Castillo the most money. Can't blame him. He needs it.What do tou know about Castillo's money?? :nonono:
And Oscar wanting to fight Hatton next, I have to wonder if this fight is decently close how the judging will go. They nearly gave Oscar the fight against Floyd in May which was just sickening. Would they really screw over the undefeated pound for pound best in the world? Golden Boy fighters have been on the receiving end of some real gifts in the last year or so, including Oscar getting the appearance of a close fight with Mayweather.
Casamayor-Santa Cruz - worst decision in 2007
Hopkins-Forbes - also very bad
Just gotta wonder...
De La Hoya - Mayweather sai a quite close fight. I had it 115-113 for Pretty Boy. If a judge loves the ring generalship 115-113 for Oscar is correct.
Anyway, gift decisions are in boxing since 1300 AC. And you have to remind that they had even shit decisions against them. C'mon...
There's been plenty of speculation as to how the fight between Ricky and Floyd will end on Dec. 8.
The majority expect Floyd to win, but stranger things have and can happen.
Many would be surprised if Ricky actually pulls off a victory.
What do you think? :boxing:
That Hatton beat Mayweather very easily
Wow, I can't think of any instance when Barerra has been arrogant. I mena just look at his back ground, he came from money and still decided to do what he loves the most.
The instance of him slamming Hammed's head into the turn buckle was because #1, Hammed picked one of the holiest days in the Christian faith to fight him and try and humilate him. #2 look at the fight and see the antics Hammed was imploring, slapping at him, talking to him, clowning around the ring with his hands completely by his side.
Hammed was an asshole and deserves the beating and humiliation he got. All that "There is no God but Allah" crap was mad disrespectful.
I tell you one: you're right, Naseem Hamed was (is) a moron. And probably he deserved that "punishment" against Barrera...
But take a look in Barrera's career. IN Barrera - Jones I he did a real bullshit. I hate theese things. You have to see a boxer outside the ring (Mayorga is arrogant outside of it but inside the ring he's correct) and inside of it (Barrera's example).
Anyway, I have always hated Barrera :ugh:
If Mayweather defeats with a big UD (118-110) or by KO Hatton he could be a choise.
If Hatton defeats via KO mayweather he should be the Fighter Of The Year.
But we have to remember Kelly Pavlik (Taylor, Mirand) and Miguel Cotto (Mosley, Judah). Honorable mention for Juan Diaz.
...
That's true, but he is the king of 140 division without any doubt (Even more Witter.. in my opinion he's underrated). And he is the best body hitter with Cotto. This is an hard fight for Floyd Mayweather JR.
they both got VICIOUS left hooks but who u think got the better left hook i think im goin with trinidad when he caught my boy yory boy campas with so many left hooks(and never fell down) but then towards the end it was hurting him a lot thats why it was stopped.
De La Hoya. Very Beautiful and more brutal.
Pacman is a great fighter, 3 matches against Morales, 3 against Barrera, 2 against Marquez, winning or losing doesen't matter, he's a brave boxer.
This is a great match, personally I think Pacman will win, he's smarter and he boxes better than before
The other thread about thier opposition sparked this fantasy fight in my mind. Who would win this 147 lbs matchup with both fighters in thier prime?
Floyd by decision! Tito has got a static, ripetitve, he has god a bad footwork. Mayweather 116-112.
