It will be a rematch of the ages, Pacquiao-Marquez II.
Everything has been set, except for the formalities. A press conference to announce the megafight deal is scheduled on December 20 in Los Angeles to be attended by Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank executives as well as main protagonists Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines and Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico.
"It's almost a done deal," Pacquiao friend and confidant Rex 'Wakee' Salud has informed PhilBoxing.com. "Manny is happy with the purse he is getting for this fight so the fight will push through."
Marquez earlier told ********** that “we accepted their terms, now its up to Bob Arum and Pacquiao to decide if they are going to fight me or keep running.”
With Marquez's acceptance of the terms offered by the Pacquiao camp, it looks like the deal has been sealed.
Bob Arum and HBO had earlier set a March 15, 2008 date for Pacquiao's next fight.
Salud also informed that Bob Arum will come to the Philippines for Pacquiao's birthday on Dec. 17 after which Arum and Pacquiao will leave for Los Angeles on Dec. 19 to rendezvous with the Golden Boy people headed by Oscar de la Hoya and Richard Schaefer on Dec. 20.
Pacquiao will bring his family with him to spend Christmas and New Year in the United States.

Pacquiao and Marquez fought a classic fight on May 8, 2004 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas where Pacquiao decked Marquez to the canvas three times in the first round but Marquez later recovered to dominate Pacquiao in most of the remaining rounds. The controversial draw verdict left everyone wanting to see a rematch but several negotiations fell through bringing the latest negotiation to almost four years after the first fight.
Somewhere along the way, two Mexican legends, Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera, have retired owing to their defeats in the hands of Pacquiao and Marquez.
By all indications, the Pacquiao-Marquez rematch will be the most anticipated fight of 2008.

===============================
No more excuses.. ITS ON!!!!
Pacman is a great fighter, 3 matches against Morales, 3 against Barrera, 2 against Marquez, winning or losing doesen't matter, he's a brave boxer.
This is a great match, personally I think Pacman will win, he's smarter and he boxes better than before
about fuking time, Marquez is about to be a grandpa..
so pacquiao is finally facing his fear :lol1:
you whine so much that marquez almost didnt made the fight now youre already making a ready excuse. this is the exact sentiment why i made a thread about marquez asking if he's shot. geez...

LOL and LOL , the fight most fans want to see now all of a sudden JMM is about to be GRANDPA?? how quick are you on the damage control??
its not fear mi amigo but good business ... why let JMM have any say on the purse when this is PAC's time and is the most sought after fighter?!
now for JMM, if he could win and that is a BIG IF, he can cash in after...
I read that part of the negotiation is to fight at a catch weight of 132. If ss, will the WBC allow them to fight at a catch weight of 132 for the 130 belt. So many unanswered questions that we hope to be enlightened with as the signing of contract nears.
I don't think the WBC will allow this. If they fight at 132, Marquez will relinquish his belt. The Ring might give the winner the belt though.
Haha. Musta na pare ?
I am hoping the fight is at 130 so Pacman has the chance to win the green belt. Rumors have it that it might happen at a catch weight. That would diminish the sparkle of the fight.
C'mon Pacman, let's do it at 130 !!!I read that part of the negotiation is to fight at a catch weight of 132. If ss, will the WBC allow them to fight at a catch weight of 132 for the 130 belt. So many unanswered questions that we hope to be enlightened with as the signing of contract nears.
