To be fair. Algieri looked way better against Emmanuel Taylor than Broner did. I think those two are on the same level and the twitter war w/ Broner and Khan was clearly a publicity stunt that uncle Al was not gonna let happen.
But if Brook was serious about fighting Amir before Ramadan, then I'm disappointed Amir turned him down. But if he beats Brook later this yr people will forget about this.
Overall Khan has a better resume than Brook.
That cannot be debated.
But...
If you take BOTH Khan's and Porter last few fights and next fight - then there is not a huge difference in the quality of their respective opposition.
It's okay to split hairs about who beat who, and when they did it but the fact remains NEITHER have fought anyone near the best in the division.
Finally,
Brook deserves props for winning a belt in the USA - Khan never did this.
And Diaz put Khan down, hard...
Khan took Zab's IBF belt in Vegas. Before Khan Ko'd him Zab only had one other loss at 140 lbs, the infamous "don't ever play with matches" affair w/ Tzu from way back in 2001. Zab was easily top 5 at 140 back in 2011, coming off wins vs Matthyse and Mabuza (remember Mabuza stopped Kendall Holt to get that belt, same guy Danny squeaked by), and Garcia was not on the map at the time. Bradley, Khan, Alexander, and Maidana were the big 4 at 140 at the time. Zab easily had the number 5 spot because he had a belt, hadn't lost at 140 in almost a decade, and was coming off a decent win streak.
I pick Khan to beat Brook, but I also think he is intimidated by Brook's size. I think Virgil wants Khan to wait for a bit until he grows into a big WW. Khan came in at 160 for the Alexander fight, his heaviest ever. After the fight Virgil said he wants Khan to come in at 165 for his next fight.
I don't like the ducking, but I do think Khan's chances of winning increase if he takes time to grow a bit more.
Khan don't want none, he was hospitalized while Maidana was at a restaurant eating steak. khan won a tremendous fight, proven doubters about his chin wrong and deserved the win but if he doesn't have to fight a puncher then he avoids them, guys like Devon are guys he looks great against.
Khan wants to cash out vs Floyd/Pac and i don't blame him, Brook also a possibility but i don't think Maidana would excite him, already beat him, knows it would be another hellish fight and there won't be the money that a Floyd/Pac/Brook fight would bring, no World title either.
Only way i can ever see the fight happening again is if Maidana beats Brook for the title, but surely Khan will get Brook if he doesn't get Floyd/Pac insted.
Lol Khan wasnt hospitalized. There is an Ellie Sechback vid from the night of the fight showing Khan, Ariza, and their friends eating out at a restaurant after the fight. I'm sure he had a brief medical checkup post fight but that's pretty standard. He was back in the UK a day later breaking down the fight on Sky Sports.
"I LOST?!"
...first mayweather fighter to get robbed on the scorecards
Didn't look like she got robbed. More like first mayweather fighter to get saved from a tko loss by the entourage.
Looked to me like the White girl was getting the better of Iyanna until another girl pulled her off. Am I the only one who saw that? You can't see much, but you do briefly see a redhead chick on top of Iyanna throwing that GNP, then some other girl in red pushes the white girl off, Iyana get's on top land a couple shots, the white girl throws her off, then the fight is broken up.
Iyana didn't get jumped, she was losing a fight one on one and had to have her girls save her. At least that's what I made out. But again I only saw 15 seconds of it.
That also explains why Iyana was so quick to comment on the video starting off with "I lost?" She knows that in the video she appears to be losing the fight one on one; so she felt the need to make the claim that the fight was longer than that and that she was ready for round 2. If word gets around that she got her ass beat and can't handle herself one on one, it will hurt the mayweather brand.
I agree. Unless you have the benefit of fighting Khan in your hometown with a biased referee/judges like Peterson did, it's very difficult to decision Khan. Maidana came kind of close, but he came on too late.
Thing with Khan is anytime he get's KO'd, he blames it on being weight drained. People accuse him making excuses, but then he moves up and in a couple yrs he is a contender again. With his style he can be trouble for anybody on any given night. It will be harder to KO him at 147 and with his improved defense under Hunter, but if it happens I wouldn't be surprised to see Khan contending at 154 lbs in a couple yrs.
Then Khan has more "off" nights than anybody in recent memory. What happened vs Molina? Another off night? And after that vs Diaz?
What happened vs Molina? Khan dominated that fight and got the stoppage. He hardly lost a round. He just never got credit for that fight because Molina was deemed a bum until he gave Broner a good fight.
Since teaming with Hunter Khan has looked great vs Molina, Collazo, and Alexander. He has struggled against Diaz and Algieri.
When he was with Roach he struggled against Maidana and Peterson and still should have gotten the win. He dominated everyone else until he ran into Garcia.
N'dou can punch, Jackiewicz had dropped nearly 40 of his 49 opponents. What do you mean Brook has average power? Haha he has stopped 9 of his last 10 & was the first guy to stop Jackiewicz.
What punchers has Khan fought?
Prescott - Very overrated power yet managed to K.O Khan
Maidana - Very good but extremely limited & the ref saved Khan.
What other punchers has he faced? Malignaggi? Haha! The career super featherweight Michael Gomez who dropped him?
The feather fisted Willie Limmond who floored Khan and had him down for 13 seconds? Haha, please, save it. You keep buying the hype!
You forgot Zab. Judah or Maidana would ass-rape Kell the tomato can eater!!! Khan hasn't touched the canvas in 3 yrs all white taking on the hardest hitters at 140. Brook will never be no more than a domestic bum. Remember when the Chavs were saying Murray and Mitchell would KTFO Khan. Both those guys got exposed when they stopped fighting cab drivers, so no ya'll wrapping your tongues around Kell's balls!!!
Truth is that apart from Khan and Froch the British boxing scene is about as hopeless as a Detroit public school LOL. Hate on Khan all you want but he's pretty much all you cabbies got!!!!!!
Exactly. If it's really easy work, why not actually fight the guy in England and make a killing? Khan's fans need to stop over-rating Khan's fame. If he can can fight peeps like Paulie and McClouskey, then a first fight at welterweight against Brooks really isn't "Beneath" him, esp. if Brooks gets a belt soon.
LMAO what killing does Brook make Amir? He barely sells 1000 seats in his hometown. Amir would make peanuts slapping the brown off Brook if he were to fight him now. Matt Hatton is another bum but at least he sells tickets. Hell even a McCloskey rematch would probably make Amir more money at this point. Brook needs to stop fighting corpses if he wants to earn his ass kicking at the hands of Khan!!!
Only reason Matt was somewhat relevant was cause of his brother, and it's been years since Ricky's been relevant. In 2012, Matthew wouldn't sell $hit, certainly not more than Khan vs a relevant British fighter. And stop bu#ll#hiting with talks about resumes and deserving fights when the guy you want Khan to fight is clearing less deserving than Brooks.
**** that I wanna see Khan vs Berto in his debut. But I guarantee more casual UK fans know Hatton than Brook. And that fight would def. make more money. And for the record Saul Alvarez is heavens above anyone Kell Brook has fought or likely will fight in the next year
I don't see why anyone would lack confidence going into a fight with Khan.
Yes he is a tremendous boxer, but everyone knows he can be knocked the f*ck out.
Even if Khan beats a man up for 11 rounds they know they are not out of the fight. It's not like he is Librado Andrade or Antonio Margarito.
LOL the haters been moaning about his chin, but 3 years later he hasn't touched the canvas once!!!!:cockblock
Calzaghe beat Eubanks from pillar to post so you canlt rate him and Benn and still moan about Calzaghe. And Lol at any of those guys being ahead of the Klits who would beat the **** out of 99.9 percent of Amerikkkan Hw in history. The hw division today is no weaker than the 90's and only emasculated amerikkkans think different!!!!
Hmmmmmmmm.. This is a really good case you are presenting.
I know for a fact he woud have beaten Wlad I have no doubt about that. But Tyson.. I mean RJJ was a beast in his prime, to me he is a top 20 ATG. He was just a diferent kind of specimen. I still haven't seen a fighter like RJJ in boxing history.
But Tyson I mean I don't know if he could have sustained Tysons bombs. Tyson has the power of a thousand monsters and HW wasn't really Jones weight. So the question stands in whether or not he could have kept Tyson at bay and if he could have sustained his power.
He had the skills to beat him but I don't know if he would have held that power and resistance at HW.
Lol u don't know sh!t that's a fact. Rjj was a smaller hw than adamek and didn't carry any power up there, you can't run from big athletic hws twice your size for 12 ends when you have no power. Prime vitali or wlad would ivAn Drago that ass worse than Lebedev
And risk that sh1t {Brutal KO} happening again? NO WAY!!!!!!
Khan is not going anywhere near dangerous opponents that can potentially take him out. His opponents are selected based on weaknesses that can be exploited ONLY. Any opponent that can really box, cut off the ring and knock the living sh1t out of him is not in consideration ..... ever!!!!!!
Lol so top 10 fighters like Kotelnik, Paulie, Maidana, Judah, and Lamont are selected on "weakness". But a tomato can who won the lottery once is a "dangerous opponent" that can "box and cut the ring off". Either you a hater or a d.ick rider. Take your pick!!!!
I'd like to see the crippled trash talker guerrero put his money where his mouth is and fight Khan in the uk at 147!!!! Till then don't put floyds name in your mouth with that patheitic resume.
The song above would be fitting for a Khan ring walk in Philadephia!
Garcia is from Philadelphia, A great fight town, With great venues like the Joe Louis Arena, I dont blame Khan for not wanting to fight Garcia in his hometown given how horrifically he was robbed last time in DC. Its hometown robberies which prevent such epic fights occurring in places where they matter! The level of corruption and nepotism is in boxing is unreal! I only wish something would be done about it.
Imagine Khan v Garcia in Joe Louis Arena in Philadelphia for 3 world titles to crown an undisputed champion but because of corruption in boxing that fight will never happen in Philadelphia.
So my question is given a fair shake Should Khan Fight Danny Garcia In Philadelphia ? I think the answer is a resounding yes, But in reality Khan would be robbed so that fight would never happen in Philadelphia.
Lmao at khan comin out to streets of Philadelphia that's b the most depressing ringwalk ever. Maybe he could come out with Tom Hanks and Denzel from the movie and have a bunch of HIV kids escort them to the ring. t
That sure would raise his profile tho win or lose. Motown Philly with.
Boyz2men is more upbeat and realistic
The ancient and out of shape Morales took all those same punches from Maidana and had Marcos in trouble quite a few times without getting on bicycle or holding on for dear life. For that matter Devon Alexander thoroughly schooled Maidana on how to fight without running all over the ring. Khan has good hand speed and decent power, but Amir's chin will always be his achilles' heel. Theres a reason why Khan has only faced one man with decent power in his career.
Zab Judah and Maidana are both heavy hitters at 140 and saying only one of them has "decent power" is absolutely insane. Maidana of 2010 was in his prime coming off big KO wins over Ortiz and Cayo. You can't compare the beast Khan fought that to the battle worn Maidana that Alexander had the luxury of fighting in his hometown and at 147 were Maidana doesn't belong. But if you like triangle theories you can also bring up the Kotelnik fight for Alexander and Khan
I feel bad 4 Ruben but he really screwed Khan up by only allowing him to gain a measly 8 lbs after the weigh in. Lanky guys like Khan need every pound possible I mean ak has been getting smaller on fight night every fight since Judah when he was massive at 152. compare khans legs recovery in the middle of round 10 vs Maidana with his inability to recover between rounds early vs Garcia. Tabares plan of having Amir diet all the way down to 140 a week b4 the fight totally backfired. Khan had a bigger upper body and still weighed 4 lbs less so think how twiggy his legs must have been
Ariza...........
Ironic cuz they hired Tabares to make AK bigger and prepare him for 147, just like how he helped Haye go from CW to HW. Yet after 16 wk training camp, Khan turns out to be smaller than he was with Ariza. All those pics of him lifting and adding muscle turned out to be a waste because he was looking like a holocaust survivor on fight night.
I thought Khan was 155 when he came in against LP? But whatever, He did look very frail against Garcia, and coming in like that, will give u a porcelain chin
Nah it was Pete who was amazingly 155 after only being 147 vs ortiz. ariza was saying ak had trouble making weight for the LP fight which is why he came in drained at 149 and was bullied by LP who most though was smaller or same size as Khan. on fighthype ariza said Khan would be over 150's in the remtch before team Khan fired him.
someone with Amirs lanky physique needs to put on as much weight as possible after the weigh in. Anytime he is even a little drain his chin will be glass. Amir went 3 yrs without going down with Alex. Ariza made khan not roach for Ak to side with roach over ariza after their falling out was his biggest mistake
chavez jr put on over 20 lbs for his last fight and only the IBF have that rule if im not mistaken? peterson put on 14 or 15 lbs because he diddn't have to go by the IBF rules but if the rematch happened he would have been affected alot especially as he would be 5lbs lighter and he would lose significant strength:boxing:
I don't get why the rehydration clause didn't apply to Pete since he was an ibf mandatory fighting for an Ibf title. I remember khan had to abide by the rehydration clause when he fought Judah even though Zab was the defending ibf champion. Why was Peterson excused vs Khan but not Khan when challenged Zab?
The way some of you guys love some of these boxers are mad sketch..I mean you guys act like you guys are dating...I mean be a fan, but y'all just real emotional sometimes....Real female like....Khan has great fans but some dudes wanna share spaghetti with him..
His haters appear to be more emotional than his fans. Yes Khan *****es and moans but what self-respecting fighters wouldn't after realizing that in addition to be screwed out of 2 World titles by a hometown ref, the guy who "beat" you was on PED's. And yes "beat" is in quotes because we all know if the fight took place anywhere outside DC Lafraud PEDerson would not have stood a chance on the scorecards.
People treat Khan worse than Juan Ma a guy who cries blames the ref after getting KTFO 2x in his hometown.
Prime is just a way of saying physical peak. Floyd was at his peak 5-10 yrs ago but was fighting at a lower weight and doing more running than fighting. He was also fighting lower calibre opponents. Floyd today more than compensates for his ascent in both weight and age by fighting smarter and standing his ground. He is far more entertaining to watch now then when in his prime, he is fighting bigger stronger opponents than in his prime. So as I see it Floyd hasn't really digressed he has just adapted to a higher weight vs better quality opposition. Do you really think the "prime" 140 lbs Floyd could stand in front of Mosley and Ortiz like he does today? I think not. Floyd 2012 can hold his own with any version of Pbf. May not be as fast but he is bigger and stronger physically and more knowledgeable
2001-1st retirement. Dude used to jab, move, throw double hooks, jab to the body. Prettying boy destroys money mayweather anytime anywhere
I disagree money may is bigger, stronger, and smarter than Pbf. He is also much better coming off layoffs. Remember pbf struggled w/ journeyman Augustus coming off a 6 mo layoff. Money may today beats prime Augustus down like Gatti coming off a 2 yr layoff
no he cried like a b1tch and looked for 10000 reasons to have his belts just handed back.if he would have just lost and demanded a rematch and this happened i would have felt differently
That's some cum dumpster **** right there Khan was calling for a rematch since the night of the first fight. It was supposed to happen in march but Lafraud Pederson used his affirmative action titles to demand a 50-50 purse he didn't deserve. Khan beat a top 5 Jww on roids in his hometown. And anyone not blinded by hatred knows he won that fight. Beating an elite fighter on roids is worthy of respect!!!!
roids or not, lamont beat khan, and lamont woulda beat khan again. for the rematch, peterson woulda been sharper and more confident cause he fought him already, khan still will not adjust, cause he will always be one dimensionsal, so for me, its not a respect / disrespect thing, its more of a "stop thinkin you're the shlt cause youre FAR from it" thing...
LOL what a trip. That homeless bum got beat in his own backyard with roids in his system and the cards would have reflected it had the fight been anywhere in the world other than DC. Without roids and with an impartial ref your affirmative action champion would not have stood a chance and you know it. But it's all catching up to Lafraud now. Screw others and you shalt too be screwed. He will be suspended from the sport, have to pay out his ass if Team Khan presses charges, and can go back to mugging old women for groceries on the street. All because your boy didn't have the balls to play fair and square
That old man you cerroteLs are moaning about made Maidana his ***** come April. The hold up is Maidana aint done ****!!! The loser needd to make noise to warrant a rematch, Khan went on to dominate mccloskey and judah while Maidana got schooled by an old feather weight!!!! Unification bouts take precedence over Maidana the bum who aint done **** since last december. I think Khan ruined Maidanals career with the beating he gave him which is why he couldn't beat morales convincingly. Khan has a long career ahead of him while Maidanas best days are clearly behind him. 'Han should make Maidana come up to WW in a couple yrs so he end his career once and for all like Floyd pretty much did to Gatti. Khan will only get better and stronger at Ww, Maidana wiill lose his. Power and get slower, plus the wear and tear will shorten his career!!!! Why fight Maidana now when he can beat him worse than he did Judah in a couple yrs at 147!!!!
