..away some strength and power. Now he hasn't got to stick to the IBF rules, in his recent training pix he looks like he did around the time he fought st clair where he looked alot stronger and powerful, this might benefit him for the garcia fight.:boxing:
Braldey just owned Pac 9-3 so what you talking about.
Bradley didn't own Pac, he was given a dubious decision. And if you read the thread you would know he was talking about if fighters had to weigh in the same day.
yeah i definitely think weigh in's should be before the fight by no more than a few hours, i can't believe how much chavez jr puts on ( 20 lbs +) but Khan looks alot stronger now i just hope he doesn't think he can stand and trade...if he boxes he will have an easy night, if he tries to fight he may get stopped tho i wasn't impressed with garcia vs morales...should be a gr8 fight :boxing::boxing:
well that is something I agree with. I always have. I think that is a different argument though. Its not like it was already same day weigh-in and then the IBF changed it to make it 10 pounds the next morning. Most have no weight limit and some fighters maybe 15 pounds bigger the next morning. In actualality its not a huge difference but atleast its a lil something in terms of helping safety from what its been recently.
As to what youre speaking about, I definitely agree. Its long overdue. We definitely still have size advantages even with the weight class. Some do aruge though that it wont help as much as people think and that guys will still try to lose weigh to get in smaller classes and that it will actually cause more danger.
With same day weigh-in, no one comes close to beating Floyd & Pac......lol
There is no doubt guys will still try and cut the weight to gain unfair advantages....there will always be something. But one fighter wouldn't be getting hurt by another because of loopholes in the rules. If the commissions and orgs cared about the sport instead of lining their pockets they could go back to same day weigh ins and still have someone monitor a fighters weight loss leading up to a fight. We all know this wont happen though because it would be detrimental to them getting their sanctioning fee's.
And yes, no one would come close to Manny and Floyd. :fing02:
The problem is it lessens one danger (dehydration) while heightening another (fighters coming in 2 and 3 weight classes over the limit). And no, I understand the rule for both the IBF and what the WBC has adopted. Neither prevent a fighter from being 2 and sometimes three weight classes above the title they're defending come fight time. In other words you've lessened the danger for the guy who doesn't naturally belong in a division (take JCC jr for example) and raised it for the guy who naturally does. Bring back same day weigh ins and it makes things fair for everyone. If a fighter puts himself in danger its by his own hand, not a rule that allows his opponent to blow up 10, 15 or more pounds over the weight limit and title they're supposed to be representing.

I dont get what youre saying here. The rule was actually applied for safety and I think another sanctioning body has also just adopted it. Are you still thinking its for one fighter? They both have to abide by it

In other words the rule does nothing to enforce a fair fight. One gut can be moving up because he's outgrown a division and another guy can drain himself down two divisions with time to get back to that actual weight. Its ridiculous and just another way for the ABC orgs to collect sanctioning fee's from all these weight classes that have watered down the sport.

Thats not true. Someone made a thread about this awhile back. Its not true. The 10lb rule is for both fighters but its only for the next morning weigh-in. Everyone has the official weigh-in on Friday.
The rule is then that you are now allowed to gain more than 10lbs before the Saturday "morning" weigh-in. After that you can put on how much weight you want.
You can still add weight the rest of the day. Most guys dont gain more than 10 by early the next morning anyways. Peterson also was within the 10lb limit by that morning weigh-in

chavez jr put on over 20 lbs for his last fight and only the IBF have that rule if im not mistaken? peterson put on 14 or 15 lbs because he diddn't have to go by the IBF rules but if the rematch happened he would have been affected alot especially as he would be 5lbs lighter and he would lose significant strength:boxing:
I don't get why the rehydration clause didn't apply to Pete since he was an ibf mandatory fighting for an Ibf title. I remember khan had to abide by the rehydration clause when he fought Judah even though Zab was the defending ibf champion. Why was Peterson excused vs Khan but not Khan when challenged Zab?

Thats why same day weigh ins across the board makes the most sense, it keeps fighters closest to their natural weight class. The way thing are set now, even with the IBF rule, one fighter can gain a significant advantage on the other. Why not level the entire playing field?
Khan doesn't need to weight more than 150
if only being allowed to put 10lbs on is the rule and he would naturally put on 12, 13, 14 or more lbs that restriction will have a big negative effect on strength, power and endurance..his muscles cell volume wouldn't be at optimum volume if he wasn't allowed to gain what he normally would, carb loading is done by every fighter b4 the fight and for every lb of stored carbs/ glycogen in muscles the body naturally stores 5lbs of water so he would have to limit food and water intake to prevent going over the 10 lb limit ;)
Haven't you made enough threads the last two days?
had alot of points and they are commented on and are about interesting topics so does it matter??? there are some who posted alot more than me, just mine kept going back to the front coz of ppl commenting, threads that aint interesting soon head to the back pages
Only allowed to gain 10lbs? There is a weight LIMIT in boxing. All fighters should have to weigh in 6 hrs before fight time, it would stop guys from blowing up and keep fighters in the proper divisions.

Didn't Peterson rehydrate +14lbs.
15lbs i think, khan was limited and peterson looked alot stronger, chavez jr put on over 20 lbs, maybe there should be a limit:boxing:
