I believe had RJJ stayed heavyweight and had the megafight with Tyson he would have defeated Mike.
I also believe that version of Roy defeats the Wladimir Klitschko that beat Haye.
Roy is way over hyped because of his Highlight reel (much of which were against stiffs) and he would be limited by size against the klits.
Roy was 5'11 and I believe about 198lbs when he fought ruiz? Just too short and too physically small.
Roy would have done worst than Haye. Haye had the power for Wlad to respect and be defensive. Wlad would walk through everything Roy had.
And Tyson could have beaten Roy as well.
Wlad is always defensive and cautious though, and it wasn't Wlad's power that made Wlad look average, it was his movement. Needless to say Roy is a far better mover and defensive fighter than Haye.
I'm not saying Roy would win, at all. But even not going twelve rounds I think he would do much the same thing Haye did and make Wlad look very average for as long as it lasted.
Roy may have picked Ruiz to beat because that was the guy he could beat, but Ruiz ended up being one of the more consistent heavyweights of the 2000s. Roy beat him more convincingly than many others did.
Jeez .. is sh!t that boring on this site that we have to discuss fantasy fights that don't even involve boxers when they were at their prime?
Why would anyone ever want to explore how well a faded and aged boxer would do?
Thanks for the heads up.
I want no part of this nonsense.
Wasnt just a fantasy fight there was a possibility it could of happened..
LOL@overrated.
Roy Jones has probably done more in boxing in three years than most any boxer you could name. He fought Hopkins and beat him. He fought a P4P#1 a few fights later. Then he went up yet again to begin unifying an entire division that had all its belts scattered throughout the division.
What has your favorite fighter done in 3 years? You must be joking. No one has come as close to Ray Robinson as Roy Jones. Not even Chavez.
Like I said, hes a fantastic fighter. However the fact that people are saying he'd beat any fighter ever including Wlad is ridiculous and shows he is overrated.
RJJ has to be one of the most overrated fighters in history. Fantastic fighter but he does not beat any fighter in history and he does not beat the Klit brothers.
Yeah... Or not. What a myth that is.
Not too mention the punch that caught Roy knocks just about everyone else out as well.
Im a big fan of Jones, loved watching him fight, but I don't think for a minute that the punch Tarver hit him with is going to turn the lights out of most top heavyweights, even today. I have no doubt Bob Foster landed MUCH harder punches and was a harder puncher at 175 than Tarver but he couldn't do the same damage when he moved up. Not trying to put Roy down, just trying to keep it real.
He's also a real hw. Roy's chin didnt just become suspect. Itcjust wasnt tapped.

was ibragamov a puncher too?
roy also hurt ruiz, not many people manage that
The thing is, Roy would have been plenty good enough to do at least what Haye did, while at the same time managing to steal some rounds. Wlad eventually catches him, and maybe Roy does spend all 12 rounds running, but I guarantee he would have done better than Haye.

Roy would be in survival mode on his bike all night, it would be a stinker just like the Haye fight where if Wlad can't land a clean flush shot he wins a wide boring UD.

It's not like I really have to say this but it was obvious that Jones was not the same fighter he was prior to moving up to heavyweight. None of those things worked with Jones before. He simply had an answer for every style. You don't have to agree. It's understandable that what Roy has done over the last 8 years has tarnished his legacy substantially.
How many times was Jones nailed like he was against Tarver? Multiply that by a thousand and that's how hard Tyson would be hitting him. Nothing in Jones' career suggests he could beat even the 2003 Tyson, who actually looked decent against Etienne that year. But the bottom line with fights like this is if Jones had really fancied his chances it wouldn't just be a fantasy fight...
Vitali now is the closest thing to a prime Roy there has ever been in the heavyweight division IMO.
This is hysterical because as tough as Vitaly is he fights like a robot!! Obviously you have never heard of Cassius Clay or Floyd Patterson. :lol1:
Wlad had to be cautious because of Haye's power, I doubt Wlad even if he doesn't have an iron chin would have anything to worry about in that regard from 190 some odd lb Roy.
When is Wlad not cautious?
