AMIR KHAN is going back to the drawing board in a bid to save his Floyd Mayweather dream.
The Bolton star was totally down in the dumps following his nervy points win over Chris Algieri on Friday night.
Khan reckons he walked out to the ring totally flat and that his 14 -week training camp had sapped him of his explosive energy.
The 28 year-old knows Mayweather would have watched him struggle and thought the Brit would be easy pickings.

It's always something isn't it? Khan has no one to blame but himself. He had a long camp. Plenty of time to fix something if his body doesn't feel right. His own fault. Even if he was at his best, I doubt he would've looked good, because more so than not, Khan looks like crap.
When an older pacquiao had Chris on the back foot all night
Dropping him several times.
If I were amir I would be questioning myself too.
I no amir is not manny not close. But Chris never looked like backing off. No respect for amir that night.
Kind of worrying. Everyone can have an of night. So let's see
He looked physically smaller and in inferior condition compared to the Collazo and Alexander fights. But that's no excuse for the defensive mistakes he kept on making.
khan thought this was a walk in the park he was wrong
It was a walk in the park; for an A level fighter. Fact is, Khan is B level and Algeri is C+ at best. Algeri has more heart than Khan so that made for a closer fight than it should have been. Amir better hope he gets that Mayweather fight. Cause if he doesn't, he's gettin his a__ whipped if his next opponent is any better than algeri (although it prob won't be)
Khan to me didn't look like the guy who would present issues for Floyd like I have seen in the past with him where his activity and speed were tops. I'd rather see Thurman or Brook or Bradley get the final spot for Floyd. But the bottom line is, Floyd will retire undefeated. He should avoid coming back because of his age.
Then Khan has more "off" nights than anybody in recent memory. What happened vs Molina? Another off night? And after that vs Diaz?
What happened vs Molina? Khan dominated that fight and got the stoppage. He hardly lost a round. He just never got credit for that fight because Molina was deemed a bum until he gave Broner a good fight.
Since teaming with Hunter Khan has looked great vs Molina, Collazo, and Alexander. He has struggled against Diaz and Algieri.
When he was with Roach he struggled against Maidana and Peterson and still should have gotten the win. He dominated everyone else until he ran into Garcia.
:lol1:
Khan is one of those VERY rare fighter's that makes every B\C\D-LEVEL opponent he faces look like superstars.
If you're a horrible fighter, all you need for that career boost is to fight Khan, and post-fight, everyone will be stating how great you looked against Khan.
I'll meet you half way , khan should go on an all inc. holiday try a bit of booze , crash diet keep well away from trainers and straight in there .This is too silly to discuss seriously.
:lol1: funny exaggeration... and completely avoiding the question:
weren't this 'obvious mess' the same sort of thing people were saying to dismiss his chances against Floyd after the Diaz fight, yes or no?
Having a long training camp doesn't always mean it will get the best out of a fighter, Hatton had like a 12-14 week camp for Pacquiao and look what happened.
And like i said, weren't this 'obvious mess' the same sort of thing people were saying to dismiss his chances against Floyd after the Diaz fight, yes or no?

So first Khan was trying to defend his poor performance by throwing Pacman under the bus laughably saying well Algieri is much better now and if he fought Manny like he did me he would of beaten Manny. Now he's trying to use the ol' I had bad training that's why I struggled excuse. Just stop Khan. You took a fight with a weak opponent and got crushed for picking him and then struggled to barely beat him. Your stock went down and now you are in spin mode trying to talk your way into a Mayweather fight you didn't earn.
The truth is Manny easily beat Algieri because he is just a better fighter then you. Algieri had too much respect for Manny's power and didn't want to get into a fire fight which is why he was running and against you he rushed in because you are the one with glass jaw. He had no fear of getting into a fire fight with you. He would of never took that tactic against Manny because he would of been KO'd in 5 rounds. And as for the training camp excuse I don't buy it. For weeks and days before the fight Khan did nothing but rave about his training. Now after he looked bad he's blaming it on the training camp? Khan is a joke and doesn't deserve the Mayweather fight and will get put to sleep once he starts facing better competition at 147.
Khan is a very honest man and is just speaking honestly, no fighter can be 100% for every fight and if a fighter struggles and doesn't look as sharp as he usually looks then there will be a valid reason, in this case Khan simply admitted he struggled.
Again you have to admire Khan, as he has admitted he wasn't at his best and is unhappy with his performance, he knows he has to improve and Khan is being attacked for being honest? this is a sad day for boxing that when a fighter speaks honestly because he wants to improve, he is attacked by fans? Pathetic.
Then Khan has more "off" nights than anybody in recent memory. What happened vs Molina? Another off night? And after that vs Diaz?
if the man feels like he over-trained, then thats how he feels
he also gave full credit for the way chris algieri fought
however his own performance, his speed and power wasnt there, he looked lethargic.
probably needs to re-evaluate his conditioning
I thought Amir looked out of place Friday night. He did indeed look off from what were used to seeing. Eitherway, I don't think he could beat Jr.
His style is too generic. Nothing standout.
As he said, the Amir that was in the ring Friday night would have not beat Jr. He looked so mediocre and average, struggling at times against another mediocre. There was nothing impressive at all about him.
I dont think Algieri won a round vs Pac. In this fight he won 4 maybe 5 imo. Khan didnt impress AT ALL.
Hahaha, Khan's got an excuse for everything.
Look like sh1t, blame it on over training.
Seriously
There was NOTHING in that performance to suggest Khan should be in the same arena as Mayweather.Floyd for his part will hopefully look elsewhere and have nothing to do with such nonsense .Let Khan sort his problems out and come back with a good win .As it stands Khan is a million miles away from the master, very poor show and the excuses and lies need attention.Chris was there for you to make a 'statement' and you blew it bigtime.....it's back to the drawing board ..AGAIN !
No one could have the least amount of confidence that you should fight Floyd Mayweather in your next fight.
You couldve stopped right there bro! lolol
Don't forget he picked this fight to look BETTER than Pacquiao not to look worst....in his words "to make a statement" !
Co-sign
Its a sad day when proven fair training honest fighters like Khan are berated for their performances in comparison to prove steroid cheats like Kell Brook
Has Brook tested positive for juice? link please..
Khan didn't look good enough in this fight to make a Floyd fight compelling to most fans but I think he showed enough vulnerability that he could be Manny's return fight.
exactly!
What a deluded lot , your'e saying a seven week camp for Floyd given the obvious mess he's in ....no more communication from you if you please !
Maybe one of those Algirie's punch got to him early either on the body or the head. Algirie was not cooperating with him to make him look good, he will feel worst than that if he fights Floyd when he won't be able to hit him like he does to everybody else and starts getting pot shotted.
