I think he is still the best fighter but I was watching Floyd vs Chico....man what a performance. He has not fought like that in years but he is still the man.
Not really....
Well......................
He's never tested himself against a dangerous opponent......Fraud has always avoided a fight and if he got in one he cheated or ran the whole time. very boring and very un-warrior like. Who knows if he heven has a prime. Just a fraud who wont get another of my dollars....
Floyd aint been 12 rounds since Mosley, the Ortiz did not last long enough. He lacks ring time and has got old since the Hatton KO.
Doubt that Floyd is still in his prime, but should be shapen enough to break Cotto.
2001-1st retirement. Dude used to jab, move, throw double hooks, jab to the body. Prettying boy destroys money mayweather anytime anywhere
I disagree money may is bigger, stronger, and smarter than Pbf. He is also much better coming off layoffs. Remember pbf struggled w/ journeyman Augustus coming off a 6 mo layoff. Money may today beats prime Augustus down like Gatti coming off a 2 yr layoff

I agree.
Pretty Boy > Money via UD.
A little known fact~
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is actually a true story based on Floyd Mayweather Jr. he was just being modest and didn't want the movie to be about him just his situation in general and some issues that come up with reverse aging~
I am surprised more boxing fans aren't aware of this~

Just another FYI for those who may not have read through the thread. I was trolling when I made it and I dont think that Floyd is still in his prime, but he's still the best fighter in the world.
Not too many guys are prime at 35 unless they peak late.
He has more experience and has gained more skills than he did when he was younger but no he isnt in his physical prime. His punching power was better at 140 and below and his combinations were better. He is still fast though and his experience and skill make up for physical decline. He adapts, so he doesnt move as much as he used to in order to save energy. Hopkins changed his style a bit as he aged too. Its what smart fighters do.
No. Past his prime-still good, same as Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto.
He hasn't been prime since Hatton.
Honestly, I haven't considered Floyd "prime" since the Gatti fight. Because this isn't an ideal weight for him.
He may have been prime age and ability wise, but he should be at 140.
A guy who is 150 on fight night is a junior welterweight.I think he could fight at 140 and be stong just as Pacquiao, a few pounds smaller could still be strong at 135.Floyd was 28 when he smashed Gatti so 140 is his best weight as you have all your size and muscle weight before age 28.Pacquiao was 29 when he won the lightweight tittle.
Prime is just a way of saying physical peak. Floyd was at his peak 5-10 yrs ago but was fighting at a lower weight and doing more running than fighting. He was also fighting lower calibre opponents. Floyd today more than compensates for his ascent in both weight and age by fighting smarter and standing his ground. He is far more entertaining to watch now then when in his prime, he is fighting bigger stronger opponents than in his prime. So as I see it Floyd hasn't really digressed he has just adapted to a higher weight vs better quality opposition. Do you really think the "prime" 140 lbs Floyd could stand in front of Mosley and Ortiz like he does today? I think not. Floyd 2012 can hold his own with any version of Pbf. May not be as fast but he is bigger and stronger physically and more knowledgeable
