Screw paying Don King! Pay off IBF and WBC to "modifiy" the rankings to drop Austin a spot and work a deal with Duva to hold off the Peter fight until september. DKP has been doing dirty tricks like that for years, stiff him with his own tactics.
I would love to see Vitali back, but I think Peter should get his shot at the belt first. With that being said, I think Vitali should have a warm up fight before he jumps in the ring with Peter. The Vitali that we saw a few years ago would not have too much trouble with Peter, but who knows what Vitali will show up in the first fight back.
Then again, this could all be a smoke screen to get Peter to back out of the Maskaev fight just to have little brother sneak in and get his big unification fight.
I see Hatton going back to his mauling style he used on KT and just mug and bully Chico for most the fight and stop him past 10. This will not be as flashy a fight as Chico - JLC, Hatton will not allow clean inside punching.
A fun sounding fight that will turn out disappointingly one sided.

I will like watching Brewster if he continues to fight this way, so dont put him in the same ring as Vitali or we may never see Brewster again. A talented swarmer like early Tyson will really test Vit, but we have seen what happends to people that are not so skilled when they charged Vitali, I dont need to see it a fourth time.

Cotto needs to step up in weight class. There is just something not right with coming in to the fight 17 pounds over the weight limit. I know its legal, but why does he need to put on that much weight? Either he feels better near 160 lbs (step up in weight class) or he knows he can not compete at this level with out being able to throw his weight around.
when Cotto beats someone like Tzsyu or Corrales then he has a claim to the highest spot in the division.
I can see Hatton taking out Mayweather. Sure he is gonna get out boxed for most the fight but with Hatton's pressure and never ending energy I think he can walk him down and catch him. If (when) Mayweather gets past Gatti what a great fight we could have. Two undefeated champs with contrasting styles.

Nah he will not stand there, he will run and look good doing it. Hatton is not gonna stop and I feel he can get to Mayweather. This is a close fight but when in doubt, styles make fights and speedy boxers do not far well against swarmers. Got to love this weight class with not only loads of talent, but young talent to boot :D
I think Hatton will slow Mayweather down with body shots and get to him later in the fight. I agree Mayweather is possible the slickest fighter right now, but with Hatton's stamina and pressure he can break Mayweather down and when Hatton starts to land, its over for Mayweather.
I see where you are coming from. The way I look at it, I can not see any active heavyweight match up well against Vitali. Vitali would be the odds on favorite againsts anyone right now. This does not mean he is that great, it just means he is the best we got at the moment. If you think Toney, Rahman, Byrd, Peter, etc would have better than a 50% chance at beating Vitali, then that just means we have a different outlook on the fighters. I would be no more a Klit lover than you would be a Klit hater, we just have different views.
Do not lump all Vitali fans together. If what Gossen says is on the up and up (it may very well not be with promoters you know), then Vit better take this fight. Why the hell not, Vitali can not be scard of Toney, and if he is, then he does not deserve to be #1. Just sign the damn fight already.
Peter looked pretty good. I think he is ready for a fight with a top contender or even Ruiz or Brewster. I dont give him much of a shot against Byrd who will just run from him all night or Vitali who will shoot him down from range all night. Would love to see Peter against Brock, Barrett-Rahman loser, or Wlad to see how he does in a step up in comp.
Goossen's Vitali bashing is just to get the fight, no real info there. But why is Goossen going after Vitali so hard if the fight with Byrd is there for the taking? Remember a big point to this thread is that Toney is the draw not Vitali, and Goossen spreads some love in this article for Byrd, just make that fight happen. Byrd may not be a draw, but neither is Vitali remember.
I like Toney and Goossen, but with just using the info in this article Chris Byrd ( The most fearsome boxer in history :p ) can say the same thing about Toney. Toney is ducking Byrd, Toney is a coward, the fight is right infront of Toney/Goossen yet Toney just looks away a heads after another fighter who they say is not a draw!
P.S. I do not believe Toney is ducking Byrd anymore than Vitali is ducking Toney.

Byrd was all about fighting Toney after James beat Ruiz. They had a date for July/August.
When Toney got the suspension, Byrd backed out and said he had no interest in fighting Toney.
The reason Toney wants to fight Vitali is simple. He's got the Ring belt, and is the most hyped fighter in the division.
There is no way you can attempt to slight Toney for targeting Klitschko over Byrd. It makes sense from a money and prestige point of view, as beating Vitali would see James end up with the Ring and WBC titles.
Now that Vitali appears to have no interest in fighting Toney, the Byrd option is being revisited. Byrd can be enticed into taking the fight, because King co promotes Toney, and can make the purse worth while.
In the end, if Toney fights Byrd and wins, he gives himself more amo to get Vitali in the ring.
Vitali offers a fight to Toney, Toney declines offer, Vitali moves on to other options, Toney agrees to lesser terms than Vitali's offer... Vitali is a coward for not taking Toney fight.
Toney offers fight with Byrd, Byrd declines for lack of interest, Toney looks for other fights, Byrd accepts fight, Toney still looks for other fight..... Toney is a coward for not taking the Byrd fight.
It is very simple. The point of his article is to anger Vitali into a fight, I just see it as Hypocritical, and leaving Toney open for a rebuttle. Once again, I do not think Toney is ducking Byrd, but if you say Vitali is ducking Toney then Toney is doing the same thing to Byrd.
Problem solved. Wlad is young, has time on his side. Its not a bad idea for him to get back in there with Williamson and take him out. I dont care for Byrd running from Wlad, but it is what it is, Wlad needs to move on and reclaim his respect. I like Wlad, he is still a very skilled fighter, I have confidence in him fighting Williamson again or any of the top fighters.

Yeah, Vitali's defense may not look pretty but it gets the job done. His guard sucks ass, his footmovement is average for a heavy, but he has good reflexes and a great sence of range. Unless he is going balls out offensive, its hard for head hunters to get a clean shot..... now a good body attack......
Anyone can get caught, and Peter is the type of fighter to put you away when you get caught. That being said, VK has been caught before and fights VERY well after being buzzed. I have never seen VK lose his composure or ring smarts.
So VK matches up well againsts Peter only really asset, his power. VK whitewashes Peter on every other catagory. Part of the problem with the heavywieghts is the lack of a big name and lack of good fights. Most of the hate towards VK is because he has not had many great close fights and at this time he probably never will. VK stylisticly and physicaly outmatches every heavyweight fighter right now, I would favor him against anyone. Its hard to stay exicted about a fighter that "can" take apart the whole top end division but so far in his career has not be able to make the fights happen.

I agree Vitali should take the fight, never disagreed with that. I am debasing Goossen's acrticle and only that. Goossen's own words for why Vitali is a coward can be said directly to Toney. You can check my past messages to where I say Vitali loses credit if he does not take this fight, I have no problems with that. I am just shaking my head at Goossen, if Toney does get a belt and the haters turn there attention on him, arctilces like this will be ripped apart every other thread for months :p
VK just needs to set an opponent. As long as he fights the Rahman-Barrett winner before the end of the year, I really do not care who is opponent is as long as he is in the top 10. Toney would be the best target since there is no chance of him getting a belt holder, but Brock would be good too.
If no fight is set for Vit, I can see DK prolonging the fight with Rahman/Barrett winner as long as possible to try and freeze Vit from fighting anyone. Get him as out of shape as possible before putting a fighter in there with him.

I would go with Winky as well. Corrales's wins were great but he did not dominate either fighter. His fights were more entertaining for sure, but Winky was the better fighter IMHO.
Vitaly has horrible defense and there is no way Tyson wont connect early.
Ugly, robotic, gangly, there are many ways to describe Vitali's defense. Horrible, my friend, is not one of them. I like Tyson, but Big Klit is the last person right now he should be fighting. He will not fear Tyson, he will not play into a slug war, he has a damn fine chin, and he will be punching from the rafters. The roboKlit will just throw at range and out box Tyson. As far as speed goes, if Byrd was not too quick, then a over age tyson will not blind Vitali with speed.
Face it, Wlad turned out to be a fraud...it happens in boxing, ya just gotta accept it and move on.

If Hatton wants to fight america's best in is own back yard then so be it, its his right as champ. At least he is willing to fight the best fighters out there and not just beat up on fighters the world has never heard of.
Any fighter knows going into a fight with Hatton that there will be mugging, grappling, and it will be a very physical fight. If you as a fighter can not beat him when he uses those tactics, dont bitch about it, just do not fight him. I dont want to see a ref strip Hatton of his fighting style, I want the next champ to beat him like a man. Make Hatton stop mugging and wrestling, dont look for a favoriable ref.
