I understand both sides of the argument but as a boxing fan I want to see the fight ASAP. I'm well aware of the business side of the sport but I'm not either guys promoter and won't benefit from letting it marinate.
You’re the kind of childish fan I’m talking about. Knocking out horn is helping to build the fight because he got a world title out of it. Ocampo was a mandatory so beating him helps build the fight because it means he doesn’t get stripped. And both fighters have talked about fighting the other but they know it makes more sense to build the fight because it’s not as big as it can be right now.
Then promote yourself and make it bigger. It’s the entertainment business.
who needs to promote themselves? this is a sport, entertainment is good but its good to also see fighters who just simply want to fight and take their craft serious, ggg does nothing to promote himself, neither does canelo or pac man and everyone loves them not sure why it must be different for these fighters.
Bob Arum won’t make it until it reaches 500k PPV buys. That’s not happening unless the fighters promote themselves. Self promotion does not have to be ignorant and negative.
Andre Ward did boxing commentary on HBO and Fox Sports, had the Jordan brand promo going, was seen at Warriors games, etc.
He’s an all time great middleweight. I’ve enjoyed his career. He left some fights on the table that I wish were made but that’s just this era of boxing.
It’s not about that it’s about being realistic and not accusing either fighter of ducking the other when the fight doesn’t happen in the next year or so.
What are they doing to promote the fight? Knocking out Horn and Ocampo isn’t going to help build the fight. Both of them seem disinterested. They should be calling each other out and let the promoters talk about marinating.
He did ok at first by putting him in Omaha and had the HBO and later ESPN machine behind him. This ESPN app **** is a horrible move though. Hardcore boxing fans may even pass on watching it.
This was a great win for Manny. Take nothing away from him. It adds to an already all time great resume but at the same time he was the favorite to win.
I hope not. They’d have to do it as an exhibition like last night. Hopefully this is a wake up call for these young fighters to promote themselves and give fans what they want to see.
So Broner and Wilder weren’t called hypejobs? How does a manly sport such as boxing have such soft, sensitive fans.
Maybe The Real Housewives of Atlanta is more for you.
