Because Thurman basically retired to avoid a unification with him (including being stripped of his WBC belt). You want Spence to stay inactive waiting for Thurman? Spence has already called out the winner of Porter/Garcia, and I'm pretty sure he's willing to fight Crawford too. Crawford needs 1 or 2 fights to acclimate to the division, or people would say Spence cherry-picked Crawford coming up in weight.

It's a mandatory so it is what it is. I've got no problems with mandatories getting their shot, but it is annoying when due to the ranking etc we get weak fights. But that's neither fighters fault. But yeah, it's also annoying when people let some madatories slide without complaint, but complain about other fighter's mandatories. They should be consistent, these guys don't pick their own mandatories.
