Beating a Jeff Horn-level guy (Chris Algeri 2.0) ain't making anyone p4p #1 dude.
Now, if he fights and beats Spence too? Okay, he's #1 in my book then.
I don't think it is possible for Bud's reputation to improve from this fight. Maybe if it was a first or second round knockout it would.
I do think it is possible for his reputation to go backwards though, if he doesn't annihilate Horn.

Many people say that Horn is total trash.
Struggling against a fighter who is regarded as trash would be unacceptable from someone who is described as possibly being the best P4P boxer in the world.
If Bud doesn't humiliate Horn, then his stock drops. People will hold it against him for a long time.
If people think Horn is trash, that's their problem. He isn't. Just because he isn't a Spence or Thurman in the division doesn't mean he's trash by a long stretch. Would it be unacceptable?
By what standard? You can't point to many great fighters in history who didn't struggle with a Horn or worse, and maybe lose to them too. Winning another major title in another higher weight class, by any level of performance, it's not knocking him out of p4p #1 conversation. It's still a win, and it's still a reasonably big win, if it's a win.
It's like, hey, if Ali doesn't KO1 Dunn, a man who'd been KO1'd three times already, then he can't be considered the arguable best heavyweight ever, and he can't be considered the best heavyweight today. Can you imagine that? Well, it just doesn't work like that. That's the way fans try to structure it to make everyone they want look like a disappointment, but it's an artificial setup that doesn't gel with real life in boxing, which has general consensus surprise stylistic clashes that produce surprisingly competitive or noncompetitive results between men of a p4p different objective caliber.
Just win. Why would he need to do better than that?

To stay in the conversation for P4P #1?
Needs to put on a clinic.
Land 50% of his power punches and get tagged by less that 20% of Horn's.
Win every round, showboat, hit those flashy combinations, toy with Horn and stop him in the before the 8th when he has had his fun.
He will make it to the conversation. Needs Spence and Thurman to topple Loma form that number 1 spot though
Bud needs to break him down, which he will do. As the rounds progress, Horn will get picked apart and he and his team's constant trash talk will come back to haunt him. It's going to come down to the point whether his team tosses in the towel or allows him to get KTFO.
Yep. Horn sucks and will get destroyed. Horn really is a garbage fighter with no chance.

Horn is a good B level fighter. If Crawford is an A level, he needs to look the part. Not saying it will be a catastrophe if Horn manages to bully himself a couple of rounds but overall Crawford needs to look like what we think he is, a level above.
If he's pound for pound number 1 he should absolutely demolish him
And when he does, all you will be posting is how Horn ain't shyte . With Crawford being both black and American your racist azz will never credit him no matter what.
To stay in the conversation for P4P #1?I thought a sub par Pacquiao easily beat Horn. Crawford needs to beat him by a wide margin to look like the best fighter in the world. A KO win would be preferred as Pacquiao almost KOed Horn. I think Crawford needs to win almost every round clearly.
He just has to not lose, I dont like Horn and think he lost pretty obviously to Paq but if he gives Crawford any trouble to be honest he will have trouble at WW. Errol Spence is the man at the moment at welter and if Crawford cant handle Horn he will have a long night against Spence.

It doesn't work that way when a guy has a big size advantage with one moving up, I don't think bud will have any trouble stopping Horn mid to late rounds but the size could cause a messy fight where TC needs the pace to slow to set and get off, it might look competitive early.
He just needs to beat him clearly, i.e. without controversy. Horn gets a lot of hate for the way he was awarded the win vs pacman, but he's a tough competitor at welter and not an easy fight for anyone in that division.
