What's that got to do with Vada testing?? You said he should retire based on the thread topic??
No. You assumed that I did. Assumption is the mother of all f**kups.
Why? Care to elaborate. You seem really affected.
Pacquiao is 40 years old and is clearly way past his prime - his speed, reflexes and explosiveness are nowhere near what they were 10 years ago. As a result, not only his fights are not as entertaining as they used to be, but he is also at a much higher risk of being seriously hurt in the ring (e.g. Adonis Stevenson).
So basically you went inside the thread without commenting about the thread topic and just want to spit hate that he should retire. Okay.. Hope you are feeling better for saying what you need to say.. It's a free world. No need to comment next time. No need to watch it either..
Happy New Year Doll. :burnout:
There is nothing hateful in wanting an aging boxer to retire while they are still in good health. So touchy.
You can’t really base his prime like that because 2-10 fights ago he wasn’t facing canelo level comp.
While it is true that GGG's level of opposition has gotten better, it is also undeniably true that he is on the physical decline (and has been for quite a while). I do not see how anybody can argue otherwise.
I think that GGG should retire. If he chooses to keep fighting, then he should find a better promoter. It might also be a good idea to look for a new trainer.
because he is lil g....he ducked ward after flapping his gums to promote himself....he has 1 decent win in his entire career and just got his face pizza faced by a guy his own fans called a "chicken" and "yellow".....he asked for canelo not to move so canelo didnt really move and beat him up.....
he was promoted as some killer savage....its all good when u are beating up curtis stevens(who was beaten by jesse brinkley and marcos primera) and hbo is sucking your proverbial D.....but when stuff got real with danny and canelo he barely scraped by and managed one win in 3 fights
personally i think lil g is a good guy...and hes a pretty good fighter...but hes not what he was sold as by hbo and his fans.....
even golovkins trainer didnt think he was cheated in this one
To be honest, I feel that neither Ward nor Golovkin *really* wanted that fight. In terms of risk/reward, it was not a good fight for either man.
Furthermore, most fighters nowadays are overhyped by their fans/promoters, so it is not really fair to blame GGG for something that he has no control over.
Also, you have to keep in mind that Golovkin is old and way past his prime now. I personally feel that a prime, 30 year old GGG would have easily stopped Canelo.
Why are you disrespecting Golovkin by calling him "lil G"? And to answer your question: I was disappointed that Gennady did not stay for a post fight interview. Leaving/running/giving up when things do not go your way is what weak people do. If GGG felt that he was cheated again, then he should have stayed and said so to Kellerman's face.
he did have control over things though...he ran his mouth about 154-168...yet never tried to fight lara when he was a better option than most of the guys he was fighting...and the ward fight was def there to be had....instead golovkin said "NO" within a half hour of getting an email from wards team...and went on to fight dom wade and kell brook....
maybe a 30 year old golovkin does beat current canelo...we dont get that luxury though of taking fighters and matching their ages/primes up though....t.hats some back to the future michael j fox stuff.....
I agree with you in that GGG should have never said that he will fight anyone at 154-168, especially if he did not really mean that. However, K2 suck at promoting their fighters, so I can understand why he would say such a thing. I do not condone it, but I understand it.
In your honest opinion, did Golovkin look like he was in his physical prime in this fight? What about 2 fights ago? 10 fights ago? A simple eye test tells me that he has been on the decline for a few years now.
It is unfortunate that GGG was not able to fight any of the big names while he was at his peak. Such is life, though. At least he should be financially set for life.
No, because casual fans have no idea who either of these guys are and weren't paying attention to the result.
It's like a bear pissing in the woods, if no one saw it did it really happen?
Unfortunately, this is true. /thread
The fight is over. The decision will not be overturned. It is time to let it go.
P.S. To Kovalev fans: не истерите, хлебните бояры и все будет OK (en: calm down, drink some hawthorn and everything will be OK).
I do want a rematch. It will be interesting to see which adjustments (if any) both GGG and Canelo make. I also want to see GGG have his hand raised after having been robbed of a deserved victory in the first fight.
And Floyd had 92 Amateur fights compared to Lomoz 397.
A 16 year-old Floyd wrecks Salido anyway, doesn't matter. But you're definitely stacking the deck to prove to the world that sucking Lomoz dick isn't gay.
:)
On a serious note, it is amazing how insecure some Loma fans are. I enjoy watching Loma's fights, but it does not mean that I am going to abandon all reason and logic and blindly ride his schlong 24/7.
Floyd has too much of a reach advantage, is bigger naturally, just as fast, and has better defense.
Floyd by Decision in a 8-4, 9-3 type fight.
Quoted for truth.
People got mad when I said Lomachenko was susceptible to the lead right hand, one even called me a dunce, assuming I didn't know this is the usual case against southpaws. It's far more apparent with Lomachenko because he likes to antagonize his opponents from mid range, squaring up, looking to run them into counters.
It's something that many needed to look at. A good example is Pernell Whitaker, the distinct difference is that Whitaker squared up more so when he started showboating and guys like McGirt/ Roger Mayweather who possessed very good lead right hands were able to drop him. Lomachenko looks like a far more presentable target for lead right hands which is why I shake my head at those who think he could have tangled with Morales or Marquez. That remains to be seen.
It's gonna be far more dangerous if or when he faces Mickey Garcia, that fight will allow me to rate Lomachenko better. At this point I can say Lomachenko is a very good fighter, I don't see great as of yet.
That is how I see it as well - Loma is definitely a very good fighter, but not a great one. He might become great someday, but that day has not yet arrived.
I dont know which scorecards were worse this fight or the Ortiz vs Wilder one !:burnout:
No wonder other champions are reluctant to fight over here , absolute garbage judging ,and had Linares won it should have been investigated it was that obvious .
The scorecards were fine in my opinion. I had Loma up two points at the time of the stoppage (I gave Linares rounds 1, 6 and 9). Bloody elbow and CBS Sports had the fight even entering the 10th round. Bad left hook had Loma up two points entering the 10th. Clearly, the judges are not the only ones who saw a very close fight.
Please, post exactly what you expected from a man moving up a division to face a champion. Please be specific.
Loma was outweighed, outreached and yet made his opponent who is the top bloke in the division bleed and outboxed. If that isn't p4p no.1, your idea of p4p must be some form of a greek god ko'ing all his opponents with one punch in the first round
Loma came up a division and knocked out the top 2 world champion who has greater physical attributes than him in his first fight at lightweight. So yes, he lived up to the hype..
What else do people want?
he won what else did you expect a rainbow to soot out of his ass?
Most people give Loma credit for moving up, and rightfully so. However, boxers move/up down all the time, so it is not as a big of a deal as some posters are making it out to be. Furthermore, making Linares bleed is not really an accomplishment.
To answer your questions: I expected Loma to not struggle against someone he was supposed to blow out. Being put on his a$$ by a big underdog not particularly known for his power does not help his case either.
The hype machine behind Lomachenko would have one believe that he is a future ATG. However, a truly great fighter (e.g. Floyd Mayweather) should not have had so many issues dealing with someone like Linares. Also, please do not forget that Loma was expected to introduce Linares to the Matrix and not be pushed to the limit by a 7-to-1 underdog.
Loma doesn’t make the odds.
The odds were wrong anyway. Which was why I put a little bit on Linares. I got 8/1
I never said that Loma makes the odds. Odds represent the probability of a particular outcome occurring. For example, if one were to toss a fair coin, then the probability of getting tails would be: P(tails)=1/2.
In the case of most sporting events, odds can be used as a good indicator of the public's opinion. For example, Linares was a 7-to-1 underdog because more people put money on Loma than him. In other words, very few people believed that Linares would win.
Loma was the heavy favourite going into the fight and was expected to cruise through, which, as we all know, did not happen.
Probably Linares, Rigondeaux, Gary Russell Jr, Walters, Martinez/Soa
Some fighters have asteriks to their names, but overall it's a good top 5. Not yet great, but looking at recent inductees, the requirements to get inducted are apparently not that high.
What are Vitali Klitschko, Naseem Hamed, Joe Calzaghe or Arturo Gattis top 5 wins?
I agree that it is a good top 5, however, that should not get one into the HOF.
If it was up to me, none of the boxers that you listed would be inducted into the HOF.
It is disappointing that the standards just keep dropping.
I would not mind having one more round in boxing. Having stricter penalties for clinching would also go a long way towards getting more people watching the sport.
