I think he'll surpass Mayweather eventually, he has looked impressive, what separates them is Broner's level of competition & his insistence on taking tougher fights. It's early on in his career but he is already making the right noises, I can see him being top 5 p4p by the end of 2013.
Should Boxingscene posters start to be drug tested? It will decrease the number of ridiculous threads, Malignaggi was a big puncher then Julian Jackson, Thank You
Riddick Bowe preferred to throw his belt away, Don King paid Lennox to step aside, that says it all really. Lennox Lewis was a big puncher and could box also. He beat everyman he faced, fought at heavyweight for 10+ years and lost twice, when Tyson lost to someone I don't remember him trying to avenge his defeats, this coming from a Tyson and Lewis fan. Lewis was a great heavyweight.
Urm Haye didn't get KTFO against Thompson?? in fact he showed alot of heart in that fight and took on a big puncher early on in his career and rightly the referee stopped it. That KO was not on the same scale as the Khan Prescott KO yet people still give Khan alot of credit.
Froch is quite shocking to be honest and I agree with what Khan said he was lucky that the super 6 fight was in Nottingham, Kessler and Abraham will most likely dominate him.
PS: If Haye lands on Wladimir it will be goodnight
What a dickhead and what a pointless thread, I respect him for actually speaking out when he got the opportunity, maybe it will bring this stuff to light
Khan is liked in the UK as is David Haye, neither are white brawlers. Degale shot himself in the foot when his criticism was centered around Groves' looks. Trash talking is fine but repetitively commenting on another man's looks is not the best method of trash talk when competing in what can be perceived as a sport followed by the working class man. The UK generally like to see the underdog win which is why Eubank and Naseem always found themselves being rooted against by domestic fans, although fans respected their skill. Carl Froch, as you pointed out, also likes to talk trash the only difference being that he is competing at the highest level however still conducts himself with more humility than Degale, Froch is only now about to have his fights televised on Sky Sports where as Degale has already found himself on box office. Danny Williams, Lennox Lewis, Frank Bruno, even Chisora gets some love. Regarding the fight itself Degale was getting beaten at his own game so had to revert to pushing his elbow into Groves' face, which I'm sure didn't go unnoticed by the judges, as well as the clash of heads which prompted blood to run into Groves' eye. The fight was in no way a robbery and could have went either way, but boxing is a sport about conducting yourself with respect, both for your opponent as well as yourself, it's a fundamental thing that Degale will need to brush up on if he wants to be respected by boxing fans, both casuals and the hardcore.
The pre fight trash talking is part & parcel, it was what HW boxing was missing, Haye through it a lifeline. The ref was shocking, don't think I've ever seen a fighter tie up so long uncontested than Wlad in the 12th. Haye could still be competitive in the division and make for some exciting fights. Props to Wlad his style is effective & the way he conducts himself makes it difficult to dislike him, Haye needs to maybe put on another stone of muscle and fight a few fights to get used to it and hopefully get another rematch.
also the american boxers have so many hangers on that they lose focus and start believing everything thats said about them look at brewsters enterouge last night and compare it to sergies. look at calzaghe and lacy. less hangers on=more focus
one thing about the european heavyweight boxers is that they are generally schooled better than american heavyweights. ive noticed that a lot of the eu heavyweights double up on the jab which gives them a chance to get their bigger shots of. brewster kept throwing single jabes from what i saw, and sergies duoble jabb would push brewster back and give him space to get his shots off
youve got a winky picture in your av. so does that mean youve followed him his whole career, i did it start after the mosley/trinidad fights?
pot, kettle, black
Hatton......by a mile, Hattons biggest wins were against Kosta and Castillo (the latter he dominated) amongst other impressive names he defeated. What was Hamed's biggest win?
Hattons one Loss was against Mayweather who was at his prime and will probably go down as one of the greatest, Hamed's was against Barrera, who some believed to already be washed up, this win actually put him back in the frame. The way Hamed also reacted to this defeat left more question marks as to whether Hamed was a great or whether he was great potential.
Most of you are basing your answer on the talent each had I am basing mine on the resume and Hattons is much, much more impressive. I think Hattons "comeback" opponent was of a better calibre then most of Hameds prime opponents. I think alot of people are writing off Hatton after his ONE defeat against the best boxer in the world, but the guy is the number one draw in boxing at the moment and is saving the sport.
He isnt used to a southpaw stance thats why he looked shaken up when he was hit and it was the twelth round so he was exhausted, i dont think he was hurt just off balance. Manny was shook up in the 10th so if "pillow gloves" could do that to him the Reyes gloves would have definitely put him down
George Foreman, and i think Tyson is unpredictable im a big fan but one day he is signing autographs and then he will say he doesnt like his fans nor his friends
