It gets so old when for weeks at a time multiple posters will talk up a fighter like hes god then he gets his ass handed to him and everyone makes excusses.
It happened with Hopkins, it happened with samuel peter, it happened with Zab. same for morales (the last two fights) Then after every time it does people tend to down talk the loss, say that he will be back, etc...
All i saw on these board over the last few months was people saying joe calzag was gonna lose and when he does it will expose him as a fraud. Lots said that lacy was gonna school joe. Well guys, what happened. Did it every occur to you the joe is undefeated for a reason. Everyone just figured this young rising star, that someone of you made seem like he was the second coming of christ would run through calzag. Well guess what. It doesnt matter if hes british or from wales, or what ever a certain poster on here said, he whooped your boys ass.
So now why dont more people make threads about how good Joe was and not how bad lacy was. Cause you know what, he looked that bad because joe IS that good.
Yeah it's a sad state of affairs. instead of everyone praising Joe Calzaghe and admitting they were wrong, we have a lot of guys talking bullshit about his identity , and making excuses for Lacy, not everyone is doing this of course, but still quite a few.
It all depends if you are a 'fan of boxers' or a 'boxing fan'. Some guys hate to see their favourite fighter lose so will defend them till death whereas others admire the sport as a whole and able to see these faults that these fans are blind to...
The best part about last night is that Calzaghe left NO room for excuses from Lacy fans in my opinion. Lacy is one of my favorites and he just got his fucking ass BEAT...plain as day. Calzaghe beat him up, embarassed him, and slapped him around like he was a boy.
That was one of the greatest ring performances of the last 10 years. That was Hopkins/Trinidad...Barrera/Hamed...etc. A complete schooling in the art of boxing.
My respect for Calzaghe, we can call "iffy" before last night...is now extremely strong. I love seeing great performances like that one.
