Joe Calzaghe will win a decision by 4-7 points. I can also see JC TKO Roy Jones late in the fight.
All the people picking Jones (most are hater or trolls) will have a million excuses after the fight and then say Joe has to fight Dawson (now that Pavlik got owned) to prove himself. If JC decided to keep fighting after tonight and then beat Dawson the excuse would be Dawson was green or overrated and then JC would have to give Hopkins a rematch to prove himself and after he wins the rematch it would be because Hopkins was 55 and JC would then have to fight the next young American hype job...
I was spot on...:bling:
Jones conceded post-fight that Calzaghe was more of a man than he expected. Though he knew Calzaghe would throw about 100 punches a round, he didn’t expect them to have much zip on them. He was shocked when they were hurting him, however.
“He won the fight, he definitely won the fight,” Jones said. “Those pitty-pats were a little harder than I thought. … I couldn’t figure him out.”

Joe Calzaghe, though I'm not really sure I like him more than Ricky Hatton.
It's almost impossible to choose 1, since there are so many fighters that I love to watch like Dempsey, Marciano, Louis, Robinson, Lamotta, Paz, Gatti, Frazier, Holyfield, DLH, Chavez, Morrison, Klitschko's...
I agree with Starjammer.
Ricky shouldn't be talking shit about a man who did so much for him. Yes, BG was paid for his work, but he was close with Ricky for so long, and after that it's pretty shitty to act this way.
And he shouldn't be sitting back and doing nothing while someone else talks shit about BG either IMO.
Ricky has never said anything but positive things about Billy. The Mayweather's talk a lot of shit and Ricky isn't going to start a public feud with his new trainer that he's trusting his future with. Mayweather is selling Hatton as a new fighter that lacked proper training. Time will tell if that's true or Ricky is getting past his prime from the many tough fights he's been in and the yo yo dieting.
Will Calzaghe haters respect Calzaghe more if he wins over RJJ?
Come on!
Calzaghe can beat Jones, Dawson and Hopkins again and the haters will be right here with their excuses. They will hate JC until he loses and they can say he was "exposed."
did you see the Micky Ward and Gatti fights? the first right was scored really close, and Micky fought the fight of his life, i guess now your going to go on about how Micky Ward sucked too right?
This is NSB and the only "good" fighters are the ones who's nuts the posters are swinging from. Every other fighter is a "bum, overrated, never fought anybody, never fought anybody his size, never fought a prime fighter or a Euro bum" etc...
Wahlberg is not Jewish, he's a Roman Catholic. His father was Swedish and his mother Irish.
Wow, I always thought he was Jewish because of his last name.
Maybe you are so familiar with the word overrated because you have a guy at P4P #3, who, in his last two fights, lost by KO, and got ****ing rocked by a good lightweight who hasn't proven anything at 140.
Your view of Ricky Hatton is overrating Ricky.
And most of the guys that are in the P4P top 10 have more losses than Hatton. Hatton got stunned for a split second in a fight he won every round. Hatton is underrated by most due to a loss to some bum at 147...
Of course Jones can hurt JC if he catches him with a good shot. Calzaghe has a good chin and will not be KO by one punch though and even if Roy manages to stun Joe, I still think JC wins a somewhat close decision. Calzaghe in much more likely to TKO Jones then vise versa.
I'm sure Hopkins tried to dominate Calzaghe like he did Pavlik, but Calzaghe is a much better fighter than Kelly. Calzaghe also is bigger and much faster than Pavlik.
Why didn't Pavlik fight Hopkins like he did Taylor?
Calzaghe would beat Hopkins again and Hop would be "washed up or past his prime" on NSB afterwards. It's pointless, the haters will hate no matter who he beats...
I think Vital would win a decision (mostly due to knockdowns) or by late TKO.
The Klitschko brothers used to spar each other but the sessions were getting so intense that they had to stop. If they did fight I think it would be an all out brawl and since Wlad isn't afraid to get hit by his brother he's eventually going to knocked down several times having a much weaker chin.
Yep i agree, Had the referee stopped the fight earlier then he couldnt have been any problem IMHO, But for me Bute survive from the KD and there wasnt really enough time for Andrade to score a KO with that time left.
The only reason there was even a controversy was that the Showtime commentators were saying that the referee cheated and the fight should have been a KO for Andrade. Bute clearly was out of gas but was up in about 5 seconds and coherent enough to let the fight go on since it was already over. There was only 2 seconds left in the final round when Bute went down.
This was similar to Chavez/Taylor except there was a lot less time when Bute went down and when Taylor did. Also Taylor was unable to respond to the referees commands while Bute put his hands up and looked able to continue. I also think the ref was aware that the fight was over and Steele seemed unaware of how much time was left in the Chavez/Taylor fight.
NO, But i think the ref should/could have stopped the fight earlier because bute was gone/done.
I would have no problem if the ref stopped the fight when Bute was falling around the ring. But after the knock down Bute was able to get up and obey the refs commands so stopping the fight then with no time left would have been ridiculous.
If Calzaghe doesn't have the hunger to continue to do what it takes to fight at the championship level then he should retire and for the same reason I wont complain or criticize Floyd Mayweather for retiring.
Joe has done enough in his career and he's almost 37 with bad hands. Joe has also been fighting with a broken bone in his wrist since the Manfedo fight. Joe fought the top SMW when he was green, defeated the top young lions while past his prime and has a victory (soon to be 2 after he beats Jones) against the top contemporaries (Jones, Hopkins, Toney and himself) around his weight range of this era. The haters will always find an excuse to hate but that's not a reason to continue fighting since you will never please them and should he lose it will be he was "exposed and overrated" etc.
When Jones Jr won the title at 175lb, Calzaghe just won the vacant WBO 'world' title against an old Chris Eubank who had to lose a silly amount of weight to make 168. In Eubanks next fight, he fought at cruiserweight. Hopkins unified at middleweight, it took Calzaghe from 96 or 97 until 06 to even fight for the other titles (Lacy). No one was 'ducking' anyone. Fact is, Calzaghe was more than content in defending the WBO title against crap/past it 168 mandatories, rather than moving up to try to get a fight with Jones. Jones was the marquee name then, not Calzaghe. Calzaghe wasn't known much even in the UK. He had quite a few poor fights, which didn't excatly make him marketable to the US TV companies.
Then why do most posters on NSB insist that Calzaghe was ducking Jones and Hopkins? Jones also was content on fighting inferior opponents when it was clear that DM and JC were the best fighters he could face.
When Jones and Hopkins had the leverage they never fought Calzaghe, Ottke or DM. When Calzaghe has the leverage the fights with Hopkins and Jones happen. So who was ducking who?
His 21 Super Middleweight Defences, Winning WBO,IBF,WBC and WBA Belts @ 168
Or...
Winning The Ring Magazine Title @ 175 against American legend Bernard Hopkins and defending it against another Roy Jones Jr in their own backyard.
Joe Calzaghe will be remembered for both along with being the best MW-LHW of his era.
