Hopkins was agressive, he engaged Pavlik and mixed up his punches to the head and to the body.
He counterpunched effectively as well.
Against Joe he was purley defensive and allowed himself to be outworked in close rounds.
I dont get it....
i agree. why didn't calzaghe try to hit hopkins with his punches? why did calzaghe keep getting hit by hopkins? why did enzo and joe know they were losing during the fight? why did the judges score the fight incorrectly?
Because Calslappy is a slapper and doesn't punch.
I thought Hopkins didn't punch against Calslappy?
Because Calslappy is a f.a.g limey and Enzo is a bitter old twat.
Because they knew that it would make him look all the better against Pavlik and then people could write shite on the internet like the above.
Calzonie is bollocks and in a rematch Hopkins would fight like he did against Pavlik and KO Calslappy. Slappy will get owned by Jones though.
....yeah!
My god. Are you people seriously that stupid? How can you say "Why didn't Hopkins fight Calzonie like he did Pavlik?" Are you actually being serious or just being morons? :nonono:
Some of this stuff is hilarious. So, why didn't Hearns come out and try to KO Leonard like he did Duran? Why didn't Hopkins knock out Tarver like he did Tito? Why didn't Duran come out aggressive against Leonard in their third fight?
Tell me guys, why didn't Pavlik throw a hundred punches a round? Why didn't he come out like he did against Taylor and Miranda? Why, when he didn't do anything in the first few rounds, didn't he step it up in the second half and KO Hopkins?
I can't tell if you're being serious or not, but something makes me think you are.
You guys know what a difference it makes to be able to fight at your own pace instead of your opponents? You can do what you want if you fight at your own pace. What about when you're so utterly confusing one opponent with angles and lateral movement but not another? What about when one guy is ten times easier to hit than another? Are you going to land more? What about if one guy stops throwing much because he doesn't know how to land anything? I actually saw someone else write "Why didn't Hopkins try to KO Calzonie when he had him hurt like he did Pavlik?" God knows which fights some of you were watching....:nonono:

:boxing:Come on fella its easy to see why Hops found it so easy with Pavlik, and quite a few guys have missed it aswell, Pavlik only has one style so simple so basic, but very powerful,And once Hops had Pavliks number Pavlik was unable to adapt or trying somthing new!!! Also Hops worked the body well in this fight more than in any other fight that Pavlik has been in with..I take my hat off to Hops he was fukin great!! But to say why did he not do this with Joe? With Joe it is like a chess board, Both Hops and Joe no there shit!! Pavlik is not even in the same league!! I must be honest I did think that Pavlik would have done a hell of alot better than he did!!! I dont see anyhing coming from a rematch either... Hopkins could not fight like that with Joe he would have got tagged all night long. It makes me laugh people trying to put Pavlik in Calzaghe league get REAL:boxing:
I'm sure Hopkins tried to dominate Calzaghe like he did Pavlik, but Calzaghe is a much better fighter than Kelly. Calzaghe also is bigger and much faster than Pavlik.
Why didn't Pavlik fight Hopkins like he did Taylor?
This is what I am getting at.
It was how comfortable he was in the ring against Pavlik compared to Joe.
He was tight against Joe, and agaisnt Pavlik he looked like the prime Hopkins picking his shots, mixing up combinations and effectively countering his opponent. Shades of Hop v Glen Johnson in the way he fought last night.
What I am saying is he lacked confidence against Joe and that determined the outcome of the fight.
do you see how kelly was never able to get in rhytm that was because of bernard and his style and the same thing goes for joe, calzaghe is just so awkward, it's not that bernard didn't have the confidence it's just that calzaghe's style is so unique
When Hopkins threw combinations and flurried he had success, though.
when hopkins would flurry in the late rounds he was looking like calzaghe he would put his head down and just start swinging
Another reason the fight was different for Hop is because his back was truly against the wall in this fight and he has always come up big when that is the case, except in the second Taylor fight which he thinks he won anyway. But they are two totally different fighters so you approach them differently.
Again, what I am getting at.
Hopkins attitude, not ability, determined the way he approached these two fights.
I'm surprised. I'm not surprised easily.
Hopkins obviously felt extremely comfortable in there with Pavlik and was able to dominate... why didn't he against Joe? Calzaghe obviously can't knock him out, so I wasn't sure why Hopkins wasn't willing to let Zag throw his pitter pat bull shit windmill ******ry before getting in a counter.
Obviously Zag's style is slicker, but he was still there to be hit plenty, which Hopkins proved even throwing just 20 punches a round.

He wasnt able to do that with Joe.
He was able to get in his groove.Joe fought at a crazy pace and didnt allow him to
make it his type of fight....
What Hop did different in this fight was he didnt coast
He went out there with the intention of putting some hurt on pav and to work every round rather then take rounds off like with seen him do in the past ie..the taylor fights etc
Basically he fought more like the old Hopkins. Still slick but alot more aggressive. I think he was too scared of Pav's punch output and wanted to conserve energy for the later rounds.
Calzaghe is so awkward.
So awkward, and he spoils your work. If you can't give him anything to spoil he can't do it. It was a perfect gameplan and he still lost because he landed some shots but nowhere near enough and as the fight went on Joe stopped making mistakes shortened his punches right up and just started stabbing at Hopkins. It makes me laugh when people say Joe has no defence.
Because Calzaghe comes in at angles and not a straight line. Also because Cal can and will switch gameplans, Kelly didnt seem to have a gameplan.
Kelly had a gameplan, Bernard destroyed his gameplan
This thread is stupid.
If Hopkins fought Calzaghe the same way he did Pavlik, then Calzaghe would have been all over him. Pavlik is one dimentional, so Hopkins could load on him without fearing being hit from all angles. He did not have that luxury against Calzaghe. Calzaghe beat Hopkins, get over it.
