i'm thinking that Hopkins is still the only decent fighter out there to even get near Joe. Joe should make him come to Wales and pound him infront of his own fans (sheep-shaggers),then call it a day????.......any takers????
It might be stating the obvious but had he taken his first chance he wouldn't need a second one (and none of the fantasy 'wrong result' crap, please).
That said, I agree that a final-fight Hopkins rematch (in Cardiff) is the only fight that would make any sense for Calzaghe. He's the only other fighter in the division who is proven to be in Calzaghe's league, the last fight was close and Hopkins is a true legend. At present, Dawson is just another contender.. just like Pavlik was before BHop showed him how to box.
I can agree with you that Hopkins didn't take full advantage of his first opportunity against Calzaghe, and that's something he has to live with.
That said I do think he split that fight 6 rounds to Joe's 6 rounds, which would've earned him the 114-113 decision that Byrd scored.
But I won't argue over the previous bout, because it's done and over with.
And I agree about Dawson, I think Joe would have a much easier time with him than he would rematching Hopkins without question.
But this is all just talk, Joe wants nothing to do with Hops ever again and I can't say I blame him. He'll either retire or fight some other unknown in Wales before ever giving 'Nard his second chance.

No to mention the win over Pavlik, an undefeated Champion 17 years his Junior. Or the fact that most around here seem to think Hopkins has the better legacy these days.
Or the fact that even at 43 years of age Hopkins continues to win big fights, hasn't been hurt in 14 years and has never been KO'd, and nearly all of his losses were razor thin split decisions or UD's that could've gone either way.
I could go on and on, but Bernard outlasted and outperformed Roy. The records will show this.
And furthermore, Hopkins is having his redemption for the Jones loss without even having to fight Roy again.
Joe was lucky to get a disputed SD win over Bernard, where Roy was completely mangled and embarassed for 11 rounds.
Not to mention Hopkins schooled the guy who schooled Roy 3 times (Tarver, the first fight wasa gift for Roy).
If that's not redemption I don't know what is.
calzaghe Would Beat Hopkins Again And Hop Would Be "washed Up Or Past His Prime" On Nsb Afterwards. It's Pointless, The Haters Will Hate No Matter Who He Beats...
Joe Calzaghe Is A Great Fighter!
its all good JR :fing02:
Yep, Hopkins has got RJJ on his record as a WIN! Oh, wait a minute, no he doesnt...hmmm, no redemption there.
Only because Roy wouldn't fight him after the Tito bout.
Don't you find it at all coinscidental that he wanted a 60/40 split in his favor against Hopkins for a rematch, but gave Joe a fair 50/50 split?
One word, four letters: Fear.
I'm a Hopkins fan and I'm all for it.
Any place. Any where. Any time.
Hopkins will have his redemption, he always does.

Calzaghe would beat Hopkins again and Hop would be "washed up or past his prime" on NSB afterwards. It's pointless, the haters will hate no matter who he beats...
Quoted for truth. Over there Hopkins would probably say something like "Soccer is a sissy sport" and the nation would collectively burst into tears.
:lol1: :lol1:
the last time B-Hop upset so many people was when he threw the flag down in PR.....and they still upset :lol1:

they fought in Vegas.....Hopkins is from Philly.
the 2 places are exactly 2,177 miles or 3,503 kilometers apart. By car you'll need 1 day and 16 hours.......not actually Hopkins backyard :nonono:
he doesn't realize how big the united states is. he probably thinks its a lil shithole like his country.
Bring it on. I'm sure Hopkins would love to have 50,000 people rooting against him.

isn't it about time one of these big-mouth US fighters took a chance and actually fought outside their own country, seeing they are all so keen to bad-mouth any fighter who doesn't come to America....Hopkins out of his comfort-zone for once who be funny to see!! he got out-boxed in his own back yard, so **** knows what Joe will do to him in Wales!!!!....IS HOPKINS MAN-ENOUGH?????

oh that is rich. isn't it time calzaghe took a chance maybe for once in his whole fukking career?
I doubt Joe would even take the rematch if Bernard agreed to fly to wales for it.
He'd just chalk it up like "I already beat that guy", and move on. There's no way in hell he's letting Hopkins have another crack at that precious zero, because he knows he got lucky the first time.
How many times can a man win playing Russian Roulette?

delusional much?
One of my favorite Hopkins' quotes:
Reporter: What do you hope to take from this fight?
Hopkins: Joe's '0'.
and he got it alright. the real fans know joe "pride of slappies pizza" calzaghe is not undefeated

Exactly. Hopkins needs to be the bad guy or the underdog in order to put his best foot forward. Walking into that arena with 50,000 + booing him would ignite a fire in him.
