Yup, he missed with twice as many for the same reason he hit with twice as many... he threw twice as many. And, amazingly enough, its the ones that land that count. Not exactly rocket science, is it?
can you be any more wrong? answer no. if it's the ones that land that count hopkins wins in a landslide cause calzaghe didn't land shit. oh wait but compubox said he did cause the dude pressing the button had a seizure that night.
115-113 Calzaghe
Hopkins had the fight under control for the first half of the fight, but Calzaghe managed to not only outwork him but outland him in the second half and no, I'm not even talking about the 'slaps'. In the second half of the fight he lands a lot of straight lefts and jabs. His work to the body is also underrated in the second half of the fight, especially considering that Hopkins can be heard to complain about it in his corner. Calzaghe changed his tactics to jabbing, then retreating, drawing Hopkins out to land the straight left. I'm not saying the tactic worked perfectly (partly because Hopkins hugged straight away and partly because Hopkins often counters with the right hand) but it worked well enough for Calzaghe to outland. I think a combination of this tactic and Hopkins tiring won him the fight. I had it level going into the final two rounds and I felt Calzaghe won them.
So someone actually watched the fight, kudos to you...i had it exactly the same...pretty even into the last two (with close rounds) and then Calzaghe won the last couple to clinch it...Bernard was justifiably pissed as he felt he had a major say in the fight, which he obviously did...great counter punching and by far the most effective fighter against Calzaghe in all his 45 fights. All credit to Hopkins, a legendary fighter but he got outworked in the second half of the fight, probably due to age...a close, not pretty, but top drawer match up....
You gotta be prime, extremely fit and hungry to beat Clazaghe and a few, like Hopkins and Jones could probably have done it....but they would have been great fights
see that's where you go wrong. you must not have watched the fight. calzaghe missing nearly twice as many is accurate. if you wanna score on that then go right ahead. you could probably make it as a pro judge after all.

I scored another round to B-Hop but I agree with the sentiment. Hopkins may have landed 'cleaner' and 'harder' punches but with Calzaghe landing nearly twice as many that doesn't mean shit unless they are clean and hard enough to get a KO.

I thought Joe hit Bernard pretty good to the body throughout.
Yeah I think people overlook that Calzaghe actually did some decent body work which slowed Hopkins down. People focus on the headslaps and come out with "Hopkins didnt have a scratch on him". When Hopkins has never really been busted up badly anyway.
Calzaghe was the aggressor, controlled the pace and totally outworked Hopkins
Calzaghe UD 116-111

115-112 to Joe i had it i think.
Joe won most of the rounds in the 2nd half of the fight. Up to the 6th, it was pretty even, even though it was only Joe that was trying to throw combinations.
Atleast RJJ gave it a good go.
120-108 Calzaghe
Popkins didnt deserve the first KD because it was only a flash one
then Calzaghe's punches don't deserve to be on compubox since they are more harmless than a puppy pawing at something.
