I actually agree with this. Every opponent gets picked apart with punches they literally cannot see, yet none of them are getting knocked out. Why? 1. Because Mayweather's power did not carry over to the welterweight division 2. His offensive output is minute, yet extremely efficient, which decreases the chance of a knockout. What opponents need to realize, is the straight right and lounging left are inevitable. Accept that you're going to take the punches, and go to war. Cotto, Ortiz, and Hatton have been the only opponents that have really done this, Hatton was KO'd, we know what happened with Ortiz, and Cotto fought the most competitive fight of Mayweather's career since the 1st fight against Castillo. IMO, the perfect opponent which not only possesses the skill, heart, and determination, but also the marketability to do so, is none other than Timothy Bradley. He gets past Marquez, and he should be the next Mayweather foe IMO. We'll see.

I felt Matthysse was outclassed in the fight and that Danny should move on to another big fight. I mean, i don't have a problem with a rematch, but IMO, Danny was CLEARLY the better fighter, and I'd like to see him move on. If this is true and they really do have a rematch, Matthysse has a lot to work on. His quickness, his defense, his footwork.. Danny was just better all the way around IMO.. And this is coming from a Matthysse fan by the way

He has the talent, but ironically, he doesn't have the "hard work and dedication" it takes, despite the fact he idolizes the man that represents that slogan.

The Ghost should earn his way to another title shot in my opinion. He doesn't really deserve a fight against Danny. Fight Broner, fight Thurman, hell, fight Khan. Prove yourself against worthy opponents before getting these top rated world class fighters. I mean, i don't blame him for wanting/taking on fights against the best, it's just a fight with him against Garcia doesn't excite me. And, for the record, I'm from Robert's hometown, Gilroy. Met him a few times, know his brothers, etc.. So I'm not hating on him nor do I dislike him. I root for him most of the time, but I just feel like he needs to earn his way up to another title fight.

out of the options I'd go with Garcia. He's well deserving of a mega fight, even though i feel he's not ready. Why is Timothy Bradley not on the list? I actually think he'd have the best shot out of any opponent that's been talked about.. Provided he handles his business against Marquez, I want to see Mayweather-Bradley. That's my 1.A, while Mayweather-Garcia is my 1B.

I actually think that Mayweather BRADLEY is extremely marketable, provided Bradley does his part and takes care of Marquez. Bradley will still have the '0' on his record, and it will rise the interest in Mayweather and Pacquiao again because of the common foe, and it would be a very interesting matchup IMO. Win-win on all fronts.

I watched the episode, and many interviews prior to the episode from both Bradley and Marquez, I must have missed the part of Bradley literally saying Marquez cheated against Pacquiao.. Does someone have an actual audio clip of him saying that?

I want to see Bradley as the next opponent for Floyd, provide Bradley does his part against Marquez of course. Khan, while very talented (offensively), simply hasn't earned a fight against Floyd.

I'm from Gilroy, CA (where Robert's from) and lemme tell you, everybody was rollin over that rant Ruben had. Some were embarrassed, some were proud, I thought it was funny as ****.. Dude is a real though.. Obviously he kept it real and didn't change for the cameras. As far as Danny vs Robert, initially i thought Danny would mop him up (Ghost's brother didn't like my thoughts very much on FB lol), but now that I think of it, it may be interesting.. Thing is though, what has Robert done to really get these title shots?? A strong argument can be made that he shouldn't have gotten the Floyd fight.. And now all the sudden he's to get a Garcia matchup for another title shot? Na. Dude needs to prove himself.

Absolutely -Marquez is a Hall of Famer who is known for putting some of the most exciting fights ever seen on the mat.. Just because he wasn't "exciting" the night Mayweather fought him, doesn't and shouldn't be a knock on Floyd. -Sugar Shane was an exciting fighter even at his old age. I get that Khan doesn't really DESERVE the fight, being that he lost 2 of his last 4, but do you guys REALLY believe that this wouldn't be an exciting fight? Khan will be the quickest, highest volume puncher Floyd has faced since Oscar, and probably MORE SO than Oscar was at that time due to his age. This will be an exciting fight should it happen. What sucks is that it's all politics.. Khan definitely shouldn't be #2 contender; that's wrong.

Adrien is too slow for manny. Plus if Adriens power wasn't enough for paulie to give respect and make him think twice I can't see it being a problem for pac. Adrien is still going to get better and has a long way to go, imo a washed up pac is still on another level than broner Agreed. broner still has a LOT to prove, especially at the Welterweight division. Hell, he still has a lot to prove at Jr Welterweight.. He skipped the whole division.. Way too much comp. there.. Pacquiao would knock out broner imo.. I'm looking forward to Broner-Maidana.. Now that I think of it, is it even official yet? They've been talking about it for about 2 months now, and I haven't heard of a contract being signed.. Should it get finalized, which I expect it to, I really hope they dont' try to make it a PPV. That fight really belongs on Showtime. It's not a PPV fight. Maidana will be a great test of Broner's chin.. If he lets him tag him like Malignaggi tagged him, it could be lights-out for The Problem

Well, that's everybody's goal (to fight Mayweather). It's literally a lottery ticket. That being said, Bradley is the dude that I want to fight Mayweather. i'm a fan of both, and i believe Bradley would bring out the best of Mayweather, similar to what Cotto did. Bradley is as tough as they come, and has a heart of gold. I'm pulling for him to get this fight

Contrary to the consensus, they're both two of my favorite current fighters.

I'd LOVE to see Mayweather fight either: Winner of Mathysse/Garcia or Bradley should he get past Marquez. Marquez has already stated he doesn't have interest in fighting Mayweather again. However, he Marquez has a devastating KO against Bradley ala what he did to Pacquiao, I'm sure there would be a bit of a buzz for a rematch against Mayweather and perhaps the hype and money would be right.

I don't think the weight will be a factor. Canelo typically fights at 154, and is only being asked to drop two lbs. the night before the fight. There is no re-hydration clause, so Canelo can balloon up as much as he wants come fight night (which he typically does). I do think Mayweather can hurt him though. That being said, I don't expect him to be aggressive enough to get the KO. I see him picking Canelo apart with his trademark straight right and jumping left hook.. I hope Mayweather does take a few extra risks though, and go for the KO. A KO against Canelo really would cement Mayweather's legend, and would quiet the critics.. Though, i'm sure the haters would STILL find excuses to discredit him (ie Canelo was weight drained, Canelo was too young, wasn't ready, etc.).

I'd love to see these two fight in a trilogy.. Their styles mesh so well, it's as if they were born to fight eachother haha. Classic fights, with nonstop action.

Dude showed a lot of class. I love his story, his struggle, and his background. He has tons of pride and a lot to fight for, for those reasons, I'm sure he'll bounce back soon from that KO. That being said, I can't really fault the ref for the stoppage. Mares was really rocked the 2nd time, and rather than listening to Mares' response, he looked at his demeanor and into his eyes and determined it was in Mares' best interest to stop the fight. As a fighter, I'd feel the same way Mares feels, but I just can't blame the ref or say he was wrong.

I disagree with OP. Marquez feels that he won the majority of the fights against Pacquiao, as do I. He's fought him 4 times, and won 3 out of the 4 IMO, and to his, and to many other boxing fans around the world. It's very subjective. Now, with that being said, I'm sure there's a myriad of fans out there that believe the opposite. Either way, Marquez is at the end of his career. In his eyes, and his heart, he's buried this saga, and has put it behind him. We know he's not scared of Pacquiao. I'm sure he wants a few more title shots and wants to move on. Nothing wrong with that. Marquez is a true warrior, far from a coward, and to call him anything close to that is flat-out disrespectful. Don't let your love for one fighter blind you from acknowledgement of another great, perhaps hall of fame fighter.

Judah, Hatton, Mosley, and I believe Cotto hurt him early, though I can't find a clip of the latter. I remember Judah beating Mayweather to the punch the 1st 3 rounds actually was out-countering mayweather. I don't know how big his hype was, but the 1st few times I saw Andre Berto, I thought he was going to be a BEAST and the future of the WW division.. He reminded me of a mini-Tyson with his fighting style (at the time). However, ever since he got popped for PEDs, he simply wasn't the same fighter...and that says it all

Cotto was such a beast prior to the 1st Margarito fight.. Til this day, I still wonder how Cotto's career would've went had he not gotten beat up by Margarito. I still believe he (Margarito) has plaster in his gloves.. Anybody else on this board feel that way? Anyway, it's amazing how much one fight can turn a fighter's career in a certain direction, for better or worse. To the topic at hand, I'd take Cotto prior to the Margarito loss against almost anybody during that time period.

Tyson is probably THE most complex, troubled, and interesting figure ever in the entertainment industry. He's definitely come a long way, has changed for the better, but unfortunately, some of his demons have resurfaced. :sad2: Not sure if anyone caught his interview last week with Matt Lower on the morning news, but he talked about how he just started drinking again after (4 years) of sobriety, and that he doesn't want to live. He was literally crying for help and saying he doesn't think he's going to live and that he hates himself.. This man has been through so much, i hope he truly gets the help he needs.

He has all the talent in the world to validate that statement in the OP, but he really needs to step up his competition and list of opposition with these last 5 fights. Canelo's a great start..Provided he wins, add Bradley, Matthysse, perhaps Broner/Pacquiao to the list, and he's definitely in the conversation.

It would be nice for Canelo to come in at 154. This way every single poster who whined about 152 and hypocricy would have to do a quick 180. They wouldn't though. Everybody would still say Floyd was scared, a hypocrite, and a pu**y for agreeing to the CW from the gate, even if he wins. It's irrelevant. At the end of the day, we all, as boxing fans, should be FIRED UP that a fight of this magnitude is actually happening. In today's boxing, money, promotion, networks, and politics (too many times) get in the way of allowing these megafights transpire... IT'S HAPPENING. There's so many elements that could've gotten in the way, but they didn't. Both camps were more than willing to make it work. Whether or not who asked for what is irrelevant, neither fighter is complaining, each fighter believes he is going to win, and this is THE toughest, most anticipated fight of each of their careers. We have the biggest of the decade less than two weeks away, and all people wanna do is draw up premature excuses and whine. I, for one, am fired up about this bout. If Mayweather wins, I think it will be huge for his legacy, especially if he does it in dominating fashion. I do not believe this minor CW will tarnish the significance of a win against an opponent like Canelo. If Canelo wins, it will be one of the biggest rumbles in the sport of boxing that we've seen in recent memory. It will be a new king crowned in the sport. It would spark perhaps one of the most anticipated rematches, or even TRILOGIES of our generation. I wouldn't mind if Canelo came in at 154. That way some of the bi#ching and moaning can stop. Either way, i think all true, whole-hearted, un-biased boxing fans appreciate the fact that this fight is happening regardless.
