With no interim fight.
I just wanted to get a consensus on what everybody thinks of this fight. Personally I think its an insult to the sport of boxing and the fans by allowing this to happen without Khan defeating a worthy contender before.
BoxRec seems to have already put it on their fight schedule at the MGM Grand:

Khan is a bum and doesn't deserve a fight with Floyd. Floyd would beat Khans ass. If this fight gets made, that would mean to me that Floyd truly loves money. This fight won't get made, and if it does imma **** all over Floyd.
I agree with you,as a floyd fan I dont want to see him fight bums like khan..if he does than he is just like pacquiao..fighting weak damaged goods.
Any real boxing fan should disapprove of this fight. Khan has done absolutely nothing to earn a title shot. Bringing in money to the table is basically buying yourself a title shot. Popularity doesn't earn you a title shot, beating legitimate opposition does. If Khan beats Devon in september then he can make his case. Otherwise no. Hopefully Floyd keeps his word and doesn't give Khan a "meal ticket"
Don't go OTT and get too emotional. Youd watch Floyd against his sparring partners just to see Floyd as he never used to fight much.
Its almost as if people are scared Khan will beat Floyd. WHy don't you want to see FLoyd pulverise the deluded khan?
I think you hope Alexander beats khan so Floyd can avoid khan in England once more.
Im not actually saying Khan is more deserving to fight FLoyd than anyone and everyone. Garcia is more deserving I would say. But I want to see Floyd out of his own country and so do many.Khan is a bum and doesn't deserve a fight with Floyd. Floyd would beat Khans ass. I want to see Bradley as the next opponent for Floyd, provide Bradley does his part against Marquez of course. Khan, while very talented (offensively), simply hasn't earned a fight against Floyd.
BoxRec took it down already, they'll probably keep putting it on and taking it off until one of them has an opponent set. They always do that shyt.
It all depends on what happens in December. The rumor is Alexander/Judah but nothing has been confirmed.
If Floyd fights Khan, without Khan beating Alexander first I won't watch the fight. That is a promise I have made to myself. I want NOTHING to do with this bout unless Khan beats Devon first.

Canelo was Canelo. Guerrero was Guerrero. Ortiz was Ortiz. They all beat who they needed to beat and earned their shot. This is no different. Canelo could of skipped Trout too.
Could have, or you could argue that Floyd didn't deserve to fight Genaro or deserve to fight JLC or deserve to fight Oscar.
Dudes get chances some guys guys like Khan who have obvious weakness get a lot of chances because of those flaws. Boxing is counter intuitive in a lot of ways.
It comes down to what does Mayweather have to prove at this moment in time, it really being nothing he can fight an undeserving guy like Khan to look good. Then it is up to Khan to prove that choice was a mistake.
That doesn't do much, more wins are better but does that change Khan as a fighter. No he is what he is, him beating those other guys is nice but he can prove himself against Floyd just like those guys in fact he can prove a lot more against Floyd.
Guy get opportunities all the time in this sport, all that matters is what you do with them when your number is called.

It will just put him back into a position of legitimacy and proving he's a top fighter again.
Khan is Khan I don't think him beating Alexander changes that one way or the other.
Him beating Alexander is better than him not beating Alexander but that isn't a make or break thing, it wouldn't make me care more or give Floyd any more credit for beating Khan one way or the other.
Sure, why not?
There really aren't any fighters near Floyd's weight that are actually dangerous to him and he's not likely to risk any kind of big weight jump/drop, so the question becomes: "Who do you want to watch Floyd beat up next?"
I always love to watch Khan catch a beatin' so again; why the hell not? Bring it on!
War Money May!
If Khan was a legitimately ranked welterweight I wouldn't be complaining. Hell if he even beat Matthysse, Peterson or Garcia at 140 I wouldn't mind it.

Beating Alexander doesn't mean that much though, sure getting a win is better that not getting a win but what does that really mean and change.
To me not very much because Khan will still be Khan, if Khan doesn't beat Alexander he is still Khan if he does he is still Khan. He has proven what he is and that isn't much.
Yea it would be better if he beat Alexander but what does that really change for Khan or his chances. Khan is a known quantity, which isn't good in his case.
The second part I agree with as a guy that is coming up after dominating a division like Garcia should not have to have to prove them self.
It will just put him back into a position of legitimacy and proving he's a top fighter again.
He was a chronic under achiever like Khan, he didn't win any eliminators he was just given a shot because he was suppose to be a patsy that folded when the going got tough.
So yea he is a lot like Khan~

I think in most cases.
Let's say Khan had beaten Garcia and Peterson and had continued to rack up top quality to wins against Top Jr WW's I'd be happy to see him jump to 147 and fight Mayweather. It's one weight class.
Azumah Nelson for example is one of Whitaker's best wins. Not comparing Khan to Nelson but the weight example is what I'm alluding to.
In this specific example though I agree with you 100%.
Khan fighting Mayweather regardless coming off the 2 wins he's coming off is not legitimate.
I really do doubt that happens though in all honesty. I'm still confident Alexander-Khan get's made.
Yeah I read somewhere Alexander wants a bigger cut because he's the champion. This could all just be negotiating tactics.
In some cases. But it would take a win over a guy like a Lucas Matthysse or you would have to be a proven fighter like Roberto Duran for me to accept a fighter moving up.
I don't think W's over Carlos Molina and Julio Diaz should be enough to fight for a welterweight title. But if he beats Alexander I'm 100% in.
