I wrote this earlier about HBO's relationship with Al Haymon and his fighters:

I'm sure all the Mayweather fans here will love it.
I fee bad for Zaveck. He clearly wanted to come out and fight some more, but I'm not gonna criticize his corner when both eyes were looking not-so-great. Not sure what to make of the headbutt business. Not a Berto fan, but he was landing cleanly in a few exchanges, so...I dunno.
Too little, too late for James.
He should've been focusing more on getting his conditioning in check and less on wolfing down Burger King years ago.
He's gonna wind up half-retarded, and that actually kinda makes me sad.
Nonito's been so inactive and annoying that I guess they feel they need to line up a top-rated opponent for him, but I'm not sure how they do that at 118 right now.
There have been reports that Donaire's looking to move to 122 pretty soon here, so that may explain the disinterest in Darchinyan.
The fight wasn't a blowout before the KO, but Donaire should've been up on the cards at the time of the stoppage. For whatever reason they keep replaying it on Showtime and my DVR will pick it up, so I've seen it a fair amount.
The scientific breakdowns of low blows and screenshots and all that is useless.
Zab Judah has a track record of bowing out against better opponents in one way or another, and he did it again. Case closed.
Now just relax and abide him another comeback on FNF and let Amir move on.
I don't hate Dana White nearly as much as so many others seem to, but he's literally the definition of "hater." Boxing has actually had a ****load of good fights and solid matchups (even on paper) in the last year or so, but Dana wouldn't give a shred of credit to the sport no matter what.
I'm reluctant to buy that Floyd's "everything that's wrong with the sport" when he fights once a year at best.
fair enough. Also I'm not the type to say his defense sucks either. I think he's good at not being hit, but he can learn to parry punches better.
He seems to try and use his legs and footwork as his defense, for the most part. Not necessarily anything wrong with that, unless someone's able to step with you and catch you on the way out, which is exactly what Maidana, Prescott and Michael Gomez all did. Otherwise he doesn't move his head a lot, which he should definitely improve.
Amir's punch resistance seems to have gotten better for whatever reason though, because Maidana cracked him with some nasty ones and never did he go down.
I'd actually still like to see him in with Bradley, even if that fight would produce a ton of headbutts. Amir leans in with his head when he reaches to land and Timmy uses his as a type of sweaty mace. Could get ugly, but that's THE fight to make at 140 for all the marbles.
He's definitely a "black American," but he gets hit a fair amount. He's pretty good at minimizing impact and slipping under shots though. The problem is he pops his head back up and straight into the face of his opponent quite a bit.
Jesus christ, the way most of you guys talk about Khan you'd think he was just some crude Carlos Maussa wannabe that's lucky enough to just get this far.
I like Pirog but that fight could be two guys trying to set up countering opportunities for stretches. Pirog would probably push the issue a bit though, and he seems to have some very solid punching power. Wouldn't mind seeing that one, myself.
As for Quillin, not fully convinced that he's ready for a guy like Martinez or will be in the near future. Like him, just skeptical.
Oscar tweets drunk and/or spun, and his tweets haven't gotten any more coherent or sane since going to rehab or getting help or whatever. The guy is a lunatic.
I've been a Timmy fan for a while, but I don't really agree with how his career has been handled in the last 2 or so years. Whether that's on Gary Shaw or Bradley, I don't really know the specific details, but he's not super young and he hasn't been nearly active enough in a stacked division that's thinning out.
He's liable to get stripped or worse, tied up in legal crap for a while. I'd rather just see who the actual "best" is, no matter who it is.
As for the 50-50 offer, I've heard that Bradley's trying to get away from Shaw and for that reason couldn't take the 50% because Gary would've been involved or something, but a win in that fight would've put a bigger target on his back and given him more options in future fights for or away from Shaw.
Morales did more than just keep Manny fighting off his back foot, though that definitely helped. Manny had serious trouble fighting going backwards that night, but he's gotten better at it since.
Being able to time his advances and side-step a bit seems to be key. Not many have the ability to absorb what it takes to get there, or the speed and reflexes to do it in the first place. Otherwise brute force may be the way to go at this point.
Here's a screenshot of the e-mail reply I got back from Russell Mora this morning. Haven't seen anyone else report that they'd gotten a reply, and I have a feeling he's just sending the same response to every e-mail he's gotten, but regardles...here it is:

Figured everyone deserved to see his reply in lieu of him f*cking up everyone's night on Saturday.
Check my signature for my write-up on the fight too, if you haven't read enough on it already.
Thanks.
no. the fact that he doesnt improve, he fights like a short man, hasnt changed anything even since his first fight with sergio getting smacked repeatedly with the left did...that ko punch was just icing on the cake
PWILL just like Berto have needed new trainers for a very long time
Agreed. Lack of head movement and improvement of his defense has stalled his career more than anything else. He's taken a lot of shots in a fairly short amount of time because of it, and the perfectly timed huge shot was probably inevitable. If not from Martinez, someone else.
The Lara fight and all the backlash will probably hurt him a bit more, but Haymon will continue to get him on TV.
Sorry if it's already been mentioned, but Steve Kim tweeted a little bit ago that they're looking at August 20th in Mexicali for his next one up. Thinking about making the drive for it if it's fairly cheap. At the very least we know Angulo should bring the pain.
Shouldn't have needed a video of him looking crappy in sparring to remember he has a track record of bailing out when things get difficult. He talked himself into the promotion, so props to him for that, but the fight went exactly as it should have.
