@danrafaelespn: Was told by @GaryShawBoxing that he sold Alfredo Angulo's contract today to @goldenboyboxing, which will promote his 8/20 return in Mexico.
Could this mean Canelo-Angulo in December?
Maybe now he can get his career off the back shelf and start knocking people out again. Obvious Alvarez doesn't want him even though he has been the #1 contender for over a year.
And in the meantime Canelo continues to enjoy a pleasant and easy cycle of belt defenses?
I... guess. Ryan Rhodes wasn't an "easy opponent"; and Canelo was already being lined up to fight Cotto. He makes too much money to not fight the Cotto/Margarito winner in a division that otherwise generates little interest. He's also too good to not fight a Carlos Molina or Vanes Martirosyan. He has no reason to not believe he can beat the other contenders in his division - especially Vanes.
It's almost worth betting that by June next year he will have fought a fight where he was less than 2:1 favorite.
Sorry if it's already been mentioned, but Steve Kim tweeted a little bit ago that they're looking at August 20th in Mexicali for his next one up. Thinking about making the drive for it if it's fairly cheap. At the very least we know Angulo should bring the pain.
To think or want Angulo vs Alvarez right now is ignorant. I don't want to see Alvarez vs a rusty Angulo...
Angulo needs to fight a durable fighter he can otherwise beat. Carlos Baldomir, David Lopez, and Sechew Powell are good options. Then he needs to fight a respected but not elite fighter ala Vanes Martirosyan or Grady Brewer should he beat Andrade. Then Angulo/Alvarez is a well hyped fight, that could maybe use one more fight to take K9 and/or Trout out of the picture and make it for the ring title (almost assuredly Canelo with his drawing power gets Cotto/Margarito while Angulo is on his comeback).

bull****... there is one undefeated kid here, and that is Vanes for now.
Angulo and no one else can talk **** until somethin there changes. period.
and Vanes can match with Angulo in every way...
similar power, Vanes better footwork, Vanes much faster.
Angulo is relentless though, and definitely a tough guy i have much respect for

Who knows maybe they did it to keep him busy with other fighters and keep him on a parallel path with Alvarez until they think he's ready. Angulo is still a really dangerous guy and good attraction but Alvarez is still their future cash cow.
I'll take Vanes for a thousand, Alex.
Given my choice between a super-rugged Mexican without a US visa, and a loudmouth Glendale kid with a suspect chin, give me Vanes.
Given a choice between someone who stands in the middle of the ring like he has cement blocks tied to his feet and somebody who can box circles around me, I'd choose the former.
MAke Angulo - Kirkland... Kirkland said to Angulo before that they werre in completely different leagues...true Angulo can take a punch and throw back a harder one.
Can Kirkland even make 154 anymore?
Probably right. I can't see GBP letting that fight happen if Angulo still has it... If I were Angulo, i would definitely consider looking bad on purpose against my next opponent.
