No rational boxing pundit would pick Toney over Lebedev at this point in his career. I like James Toney and have followed him off and on for the last decade but he's so far past his peak and I'd be surprised if he was even somewhat competitive in this fight... Lebedev is a solid ass fighter, no a world beater, but a good fighter, who has decent endurance and power. There's no way he let's himself get outworked by James... James hasn't come in under 200lbs since the Jirov fight, and he'll be fighting a cruiserweight after 8 years of heavyweight bouts. If he's actually in shape , I think some people are going to be really surprised.

I agree he's really punch drunk, and probably should not be fighting, but I still feel his style, experience and the tricks Toney always has up his sleeve he can make it rough for Lebedev, that is all. I never said he would beat him, doesn't mean he won't make it rough for him.

are people forgetting that Toney got gift decisions against Fres Oquendo and journeyman Danny Betchelder, who has lost 6 out of his last 6 fights(well, except for his win over Toney)? And that was a Toney that was on steroids. damn people. damn.

It's very sad when you read people saying Toney or Evander can beat any heavyweight alive, when the truth is Toney got beat by Sam Peter twice and has never been the same since, and Evander got beat easily by Sultan Ibragimov. Toney got robbed against Peter in the first fight. I agree, hes irrelevent at HW. But if he gets in shape and fights at Cruiser, he could do something.
