the only other boxing fight that will do huge numbers is the oscar de la hoya vs vitor belfort which also has anderson silva vs tito ortiz. The staples center is almost sold out.
these sideshow fights will outdo traditional boxing ppvs
Oscar's fight is doing terrible ticket sales. There's a bunch of third row seats still available. Unless the PPV numbers are huge Triller is going to take a big loss on that card.

If he loses badly, which I don't expect, Bud would probably start looking at retiring. He turns 34 next month and should have millions in the bank by now. Maybe one more cash out fight and then start training guys.
If I were Al, I'd figure out how to get HBO back in the mix somehow. Hasn't been the same since they quit like Duran.
Thats like telling your friend who just got dumped all he needs to do is start fucking this other much hotter girl who happens to be a lesbian. HBO is almost completely out of sports. Pretty sure all they do now is some documentaries and Hard Knocks.
Yes, that 40 million dollar guarantee he wanted regardless of opponent was a deal breaker. Nobody is going to promise that for just any opponent.
DAZN and Matchroom pretty clearly were. John Ryder wasn't handing around Dallas for funsies before the BJS fight.
Starting with Fury Wilder there's going to be a PPV basically every other week until the end of the year. I really doubt people are going to keep paying up for these shows.
if it was so easy why didnt others try it ?
benavidez, charlo or even GGG could have done the same...
its only easy cuz canelo is soo good...
if this was plant vs charlo it will be a 50-50 fight, same goes for ggg and benavidez...
Its probably fair to say that Plant would be 50/50 with 40 year old GGG fighting above his best weight. Benavidez blasts through his leaky D 80% of the time.
Yeah it literally makes no sense, he'd make a lot more money in the UK. As much as I don't think highly of Charles Martin he is absolutely correct. If you are trying to chase the big dogs especially in america you can't start with tomato cans especially when your already established as a contender.
Arreola, Ruiz, Martin, Parker, those are guys that could atleast help people actually want to see you fight
Arreola or Ruiz sure but honestly there's maybe 10,000 people in the entre US who could tell you the difference between Martin and Franklin. Its why pay in boxing is so skewed towards the name fighters, everyone else is interchangeable. Martin may have talked his way into the second fight, and good for him if it works out that way.
Garcia isn't going to be ready to face a guy like Tank for a while, and possibly never. Physically he's going to be coming off a long layoff and putting someone with anxiety into a fight that size is very risky.
It won't be next and Garcia seems to have a fight lined up or will have a fight lined up soon.
But here is the thing if you are GBP....Do you risk waiting it out and Garcia being upset by someone inferior or even leaving boxing? If you wait that long you may miss out on this showdown that will generate more money than any other fight for Garcia.
I don't see Garcia as not being ready though. He is who he is and he has great physical attributes in very quick hands and very good power. That alone gives him a chance in damn near any fight.
You're right that its the best move for GBP, who clearly need the money but if the rest of Garcia's team like Eddy Reynoso and uncle Canelo don't think he's ready the fight isn't going to get made.
Please, he would take Coppinger in a heartbeat. Who do you think leaked to Coppinger that Lopez was having issues with TR and how they were trying intimidate Hearn from putting a bid on for that fight?
Hearn or someone close to him is the one who leaked that Matchroom was leaving Sky. He just wasn't supposed to open his mouth up at that particular time. Plenty of journalist/reporters are leaked stuff beforehand and are told to wait to tweet it out until they announce it but some just go ahead and do it anyways. I'm sure at that particular time, Hearn had not given Sky the final decision so he didn't want them to hear about it from Coppinger.
I always figured the story about Matchroom leaving the UK came from the Sky side. Its pretty common for a corporation to leak bad news out early so no one's surprised when it becomes public. DAZN and Matchroom were clearly still lining things up on their side so spilling it early to Coppinger doesn't make a lot of sense. Plus Eddie may have been hoping that Sky would come back with a better offer after the told them they were leaving.
Crawford - Taylor would be a great fight but there's no way anyone else at 140 should get a title fight immediately after moving up. Bob's just throwing out random shit and cashing checks from ESPN at this point.
I'm always Team Ramirez but damn that could get ugly for my guy lol.
I just can't see Ramirez returning to fight Crawford after his first loss. And that's probably just not likely.....Prograis though? Why not?? That man has a hard time making 140 and keeps talking about moving up so that would be a good fight. And it would lead to either Spence or Taylor next which no one would complain about.
Does Prograis have trouble making 140? I remember Taylor being somewhat bigger than him when they fought.
The clenching this is weird but most of what I saw were physical limitations that no trainer would be able to address. Trying to make a tough but basic guy box like Loma would only confuse him. So I think Hunter did the best he could with what he had.
Well he will still be the unified champion, so i doubt he'll care.
Right, if Loma loses then Teo moves up to 140 and fights Taylor. Two champs squaring off would be huge. Only a few hundred people on the internet care about this other stuff.
Yeah, but this fight should be on ESPN+. The HW fight is more interesting to the audience than the Harris/Sandoval fight.
I actually forgot the Olympics were starting on Saturday for a second.
Is it though? ESPN wasn't interested in this or the Dubois fight. My guess is that viewer numbers for English fighters is very low in the US. Irish guys like Mick Conlan seem to do better, and his next fight is getting shown.
The Harris - Sandoval card was on ESPN+ last month, so its not like they aren't shown at all but there has to be a hook for Americans. If Warren wants his stuff available in the US, he needs to make fights interesting to that audience. Depending on what's going on with the Olympics I may get this one.
JoJo just tweeted that a fight with Haney is also still an option. Maybe Golden Boy are using a Garcia fight as leverage in negotiating with DAZN and Matchroom? That would definitely pressure them to make a better offer.

There's absolutely nothing that's on tap so far except the fight and weigh in. No press conferences, no promos, no side programming
Also no venue and it may not even be in Las Vegas. If tickets don't go on sale in a week or two I wouldn't be surprised if it gets pushed back to September or so to give Wilder more time to train.
We will never know the exact Numbers but I'm sure Showtime will Embellish the Final Numbers and say it did over 1 Million Buys or something like all these Networks and Apps do
"Based on U.S. television buys, not including international or streaming"
Given popular the Pauls are with kids who generally don't have cable I can easily see the total being above a million when you include streaming and international.
There was a rumor early in the year that Ward was back in the gym seeing if he could do a comeback vs Canelo. Maybe he's saying $20M at Cowboys stadium on Cinco de Mayo and its on?
I need to correct myself, it may not be on ESPN+ after all. I tried to go to the schedule and don't see it anywhere? I went to upcoming events and don't see anything. Someone with ESPN+ can you confirm this??
Its definitely not on the ESPN+ schedule. They next thing they have for boxing is the Beterbiev - Browne press conference. Guess it could be added last minute, but not looking good.
