Rumor: Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley is trending toward 1 million PPV buys, very high pre sales, Pacquiao vs. Ugas numbers very low around 150,000 buys. | BoxingScene Community
So The word on the street is Jake Paul vs Tyron woodley ppv is going to sell close to if not 1 million buys, it has a very high pre sales rate. Pacquiao vs Ugas numbers are so low that FOX and PBC refuse to release them people are guessing they are under 200,000 buys and could be 150k, but its understandable because people were expecting Spence to be the foe.
Jake Paul is good for boxing, I hope boxing fans finally give this young man his props and support him what he is doing for the sport by shitting on UFC and embarrassing their champions and Dana White.
Give him time he is still learning but he will fight some contenders soon, he has no rush he is generate interest in the sport and building up an empire and will likely be a billionaire and richest boxer of all time if he keeps winning.
Not a surprise.
An old faded fighter like Manny against a fighter that no casual fan has ever heard of in a fight nobody outside of boxing fans knew was happening.
or one of the biggest internet stars in the world.
pretty obvious who is going to sell more,
I was at a major sports book here in Vegas and they were showing Pavlik Taylor. The place went absolutely nuts when Pavlik came back to knock him out. Great memories..
Too bad about his career and alcohol. And getting outboxed by Bhop. I liked the guy.
True, it was an action fight with both guys getting knocked down. I think it was the Boxing Writers Fight of the Year for 2007.

He freaking blew his shot, he had the makings of a major star and draw that moment was huge it was all over the news stations and espn and even cnn, i remember hilary clinton even brought him out for a democratic rally, he then blew it when he started drinking hard, If he kept on winning he would have likely been a major draw in boxing and superstar. Im glad he is sober now, but when he fell off he was blaming everyone and so spiteful, he even fired and blamed his trainer who was like a father figure to him and has never mended that relationship, liquor is no joke.
Kelly Pavlik will be in attendance he is also from Ohio like Jake Paul

Jake Paul is a marketing genius. He’s bringing back boxing back to America.
I love white hypes. Always been a fan of them going back to Jason Litzau and even Kelly Pavlik.

He admitted picking Tyron Woodley was part of that ploy as Tyron had the "right look" i.e Black and jacked.

Nobody is looking forward to the "boxing" of the main event. It's a circus. Everyone is looking forward to the undercard, minus the Fury kid.
I'm not sure who "nobody" and "everyone" are but I think I understand what you are saying.
Most people tuning in for this will be there for the circus. Thing is, based on what I witness, most big PPV fights are rented as events whether it be a legitimate fight or a circus that's being displayed.
Hopefully, some there for the circus will become fans of the fighters on the undercard or of the sport itself. At the very least, sounds like the fighters are benefiting from the revenue and prefight exposure.
Oscar's fight is doing terrible ticket sales. There's a bunch of third row seats still available. Unless the PPV numbers are huge Triller is going to take a big loss on that card.

Yikes, and triller is paying all those fighters no less than a million or two. I heard anderson silva is getting $2.5 million as well as tito ortiz. Vitor belfort said he will be making more money in the de la hoya fight than he made total in his entire fighting career. Triller seems to giving out money like candy.
Kelly Pavlik won the unified and lineal middleweight title in one of the greatest fights of the decade against Jermain Taylor. Their immediate rematch did 250K PPV buys. Pavlik-Hopkins didn't break 200K PPV buys.
The Great White Hope trope is just BS blackskins tell each other to convince themselves of their oppression. This isn't 1910 anymore. No one cares if you're a white boxer. In 2021, being Mexican helps you sell PPVs.
There wasn’t nothing to sell. Pavlik was white but he kinda came out of no where to win the title. He wasn’t really built up prior to that. And it’s not like Taylor was some house hold name.
While I won't get the PPV (schedule conflict), I hope it does very good numbers and I do think Paul is good for the sport. I hope he continues to win (and I expect him to beat Woodley).
It seemed he and his brother initially got into the sport as a publicity stunt and to settle social media beefs (real or manufactured). At some point there was an appreciation and respect developed and they took things seriously as they showed some natural ability.
They have given back to the sport more than others and if they can provide exposure and increased revenue for other fighters on their cards, it's a very good thing. It's how you develop the sport, regardless of what you think of the brothers.

the only other boxing fight that will do huge numbers is the oscar de la hoya vs vitor belfort which also has anderson silva vs tito ortiz. The staples center is almost sold out.
these sideshow fights will outdo traditional boxing ppvs

Manny could never draw on his own he always needed a top guy to pull numbers.
he did good numbers with clottey,
floyds numbers with andre berto were so poor, also the fight didnt sell out and the weigh in was empty and it was billed as his retirement fight, usually when you are undefeated and just beat your biggest rival in a massive ppv if you are a draw people will tune in, not many did it was rumored to do like 400k and he just beat pacquiao.
since then floyd had to fight popular guys in spectacles to draw like conor mcgregor and logan paul.
I mean it was obvious the pac-ugas fight was going to do terrible numbers.

UFC continues to kill boxing on PPV with actual legitimate fights between current MMA fighters while boxing drags its credibility through the mud using Youtubers, retired 50 year olds and literal MMA fighters for a little bit of fleeting attention.
That’s awfully generous of him to
do that. The avg mofo wouldn’t give up a dime
That’s true, and a great way to get boxers on his side. To be Honest he doesn’t really need the money and after he stopped Woodley a lot of boxers would now be saying great things about him, it’s a well done PR move. That boy is smart..
