Since Caleb Plant isn't fighting Canelo can he be in an actual fight?

I think he likely would fight Anthony Dirrell on FOX next if the Canelo thing is not worked about Morrell, Benavidez...too Risky for Plant but as long as he has that Belt it keeps his door open to a huge Payday with Canelo. If nothing gets worked out for September (which they could still be working on by the way), then who's to say things can't be made for December or May 2022

Options will be limited providing he fights around September. Benavidez tied up with an August, don’t really see Charlo coming to 168 for Plant, Morrell fighting Ryder, Saunders is probably retiring, Smith moving to 175. Who else is there? If he does fight around September, Dirrell wouldn’t be the worst fight in the world as a stay busy defence. But after that just get Plant-Benavidez made providing neither is facing Canelo instead.

I feel like, if the Plant vs Canelo fight does fall through, that the onus is on Nelo, not Plant. Canelo is pushing his A-Side weight a little too much in this case. Plant has some people he can fight. If I’m not mistaken Benavidez already has a fight. Getting someone from 160 to move up is not a good look.
