What Oscar said about not being able to wait to sell his billion dollar company in Golden Boy caught my attention.
I have not been excited honestly about many of their events. Maybe a few here and there, but I have been wondering: Is Golden Boy REALLY worth a billion dollars???
Is Oscar struggling with keeping his company afloat after losing Canelo?
Your thoughts
Oscar just want some Attention
GBP I'm sure have some value but a Billion? If it was true Oscar would've already cashed out and sold lets be honest
Arum could probably get 1 Billion but he actually has Infrastructure! Top Rank own BUILDINGS, they have their own gym, incredible Museum and the Archives/Catalog is incredible going all the way back to Ali
Facts!
That is why I mentioned earlier in this thread in response to someone that I think Top Rank is above Golden Boy in the totum pole definitely.
And when comparing events and talent, Top Rank easily beats Golden Boy imho.
When I was 12 and didn't know anything about boxing besides Mike Tyson... I knew about Golden Boy Promotions. That next contender series and all that really put them in the public eye.
Likely not worth a billion though. I agree on that. Just the public knowing of this promotion is probably the highest in boxing outside of hardcore boxing fans.
Good point man.
But the thing here is that things change. Since Canelo leaving Golden Boy it seems like, to me at least, Golden Boy isn't really the same anymore.
I think the stock value for Golden Boy has dropped quite a bit.

Good point but quite debatable.
I would reckon Top Rank is very well known when comparing TR with Golden Boy.
Top Rank with the ESPN network deal has been huge for a long time.
I get your point though. But I highly doubt GB is near worth a billion

No but it is THE most recognizable boxing brand to go along with Everlast.
It's been ran lamely for most of the past decade BUT if you ask people on the street what Top Rank or any other promotion was. More people would know Golden Boy than those.

No
Its worth slightly more than the profit it gets from the fights of the fighters they have under contract and whatever dazn pays them
So yea its not even worth more than 10 million
What role does it fulfil?
Negotiate fighter purses with dazn- they are not needed. They arent the best in that, accountants, and other experts can do that
Arranging media- very low skilled job
oscar? Check out how many views his interviews get
Wow, interesting breakdown.
I definitely agree that media arranging on behalf of Golden Boy is quite lame.
All the other stuff I really don't pay attention to because generally I see Golden Boy as a C class promo company in the sport.

Good on Oscar, I hope he gets it. I can see him baiting the hook here for Dana White to finally make a move on Zuffa. Zuffa is a junk name and Golden Boy isn't ---> this would be his opportunity to get into the boxing game with an established brand.
Yeah very good on Oscar.
But I highly doubt Golden Boy is a billion-dollar company man
As soon as Schaefer took off, now that de la Hoya has tampered with it on his own, I'm afraid it's probably not as worth as much lol I'm not getting into propriety or shareholders information but I'm pretty sure Schaefer was the brains behind the operation. Lemme see.. they've had Oscar, bhop, Barrera, and Mosley= not the same effing thing without Shaffer!
Very true.
Out of all the bunch at Golden Boy, Richard seemed to definitely be the more intelligent, level-headed man there.
Also, since Canelo left too, huge blow to the company.
More likely the company is having financial issues. Their best fighters (Garcia, Ortiz, Zurdo, Munguia) are popular enough to be signed to high paying deals, but they're not in big world title fights.
You know, that's what I am thinking.
I think ever since Canelo left the boat, Oscar been really struggling. But obviously he is not going to show it.
