great win by cotto but its wrong to pretend there wasn't knee problems, the guy just came off a couple major surgeries and came in with knee sleeves for support. Cmo'n man. And IDK it would have been really nice to see last nights version of MC vs martinez that knocked out p will
You don't get in the ring unless you're 100%. I never believe any fighter who claims he fought injured. That's nonsense. Martinez got smoked, and that's all there is to it.
Pacquiao is a clown. Mayweather schooled him and he needs an excuse. This is the same guy who blamed the first Marquez fight on socks. Some people just can never admit when someone else is as good or better than they are.
He's a good fighter, no doubt, but I would never call Calzaghe a great fighter. His best win was over 43-year-old Hopkins, and he got dropped during that fight. A lot of people thought Hopkins won (I don't). I just don't see what makes him great. It's not like Floyd, who has beaten many names. Calzaghe has a few scalps of old men and Kessler, who has been beaten much worse by other fighters.
What a great victory for the Puerto Rican champion tonight. I didn't think he could do it. He looked amazing at 160.
Would Cotto have given hell to Tito and Oscar at any weight? (147 thru 160)?
Great display tonight by the new Middleweight Champ!
Wait a minute. Are you insinuating that beating Sergio Martinez is comparable to what Tito and Oscar did in the sport? :dunce:What exactly makes Martinez a great fighter?
Plus he appears to have defended the WBA Super World featherweight title 17 times. He is only 34 years old, and as I said, he beat Marquez back in 2006.

How come I never heard of him until looking up boxrec? Plus the fact that he is near Marciano's record.
He never fights anyone. After destroying Marquez, he beat up on Rocky Juarez a couple of times and disappeared into that hell hole Indonesia.
LOL it's funny reading people comparing Canelo to Margarito. You do know Margarito needed cement to KO anyone whereas Canelo has real power. Canelo is also at least twice as fast as slow-as-sh*t Margarito. It would be a good fight, but I'd take Canelo's power considering Marquez laid Pacquiao the hell out.
Manny in all honesty is a freak of nature, insane speed, stamina, toughness, power and the angles he could turn his body and throw punches is crazy...i spend a lot of time talking down on him,but that is due to some of his uneducated fans. But the guy is amazing to watch and i will be watching in November..
He's a terrific PED user. Ask Lance Armstrong. It's hard to get away with cheating for that long.
Not a chance. The prez rarely goes to sporting events, even the biggest ones. I highly doubt Khan V Peterson is high on his list.
No, he only makes more ESPN appearances a week than the regular sportscasters. I don't think this guy spends 20 minutes a week doing his job.
From what I read on the PR papers Pedro diaz says that is the style Cotto will use from now on "the hit and not get hit" style by going back to his roots of amateur boxing, learning new defensive techniques and learning to clinch to save his stamina, Cotto is doing the right thing for the sake of his career. He is turning in to a defensive pot shot fighter who fights behind an amazing jab and if he keeps working on the right hand he will keep improving and for a guy who is 31 years old that says a lot.
You mean he's going to try the style that every single boxer on the planet with any skill whatsoever attempts? IT'LL NEVER WORK!!!
You can argue Floyd for #1. I wouldn't protest. I do like Martinez' recent body of work, however.
Yeah, beating a bunch of nobodies should always launch you to number one. He has one good win on his resume. Paul Williams. Nothing else.
No self-respecting judge scores 10-10. There is always a winner to the round. No such thing as an even round unless point deductions, knockdowns, etc occur.
